WBJEE 2020 Counselling
WBJEE 2020 online counselling is conducted for admission in UG courses in Undergraduate Courses in Engineering & Technology, Pharmacy, and Architecture in Universities, Govt. Colleges and Self-Financed Institutes in the colleges in the state of West Bengal. For admission in engineering courses, the Board reserved 10% seats for JEE Main 2020 qualified candidates. WBJEE 2020 Seat Allotment
On the basis of the preference submitted, their merit in the entrance exam and availability of seats, the candidates are allotted a seat. WBJEE 2020 counselling seat allotment result is released online at WBJEE counselling website. The seat allotment result can be checked by logging in using their roll number and password. It is to be noted that the Board do not send any allotment result to the candidates who are by post or by email.
What after WBJEE Seat Allotment Result is released?
After the seat allotment result is declared for each of the WBJEE 2020 counselling round(s), candidates have an option to either accept or upgrade the seat. If a candidate accepts the allotted seat, they then need to report at the reporting centre (RC) for document verification and seat allotment letter. However, those who are not satisfied with the allotted seat can choose up-gradation of seats and wait for further rounds of seat allotment.
WBJEE 2020 Virtual Reporting Centres (VRCs)
Due to COVID-19 this year the students do not have to report at the centers physically, however, they have to report virtually. After the allotments, the candidates have to report at any of the Virtual Reporting Centre. Reporting at the center is to be done by all the candidates who accept the allotted a seat in any round of WBJEE 2020 counselling.
The seat acceptance fee is as below and can be paid via Debit/Credit card. After the fee payment is done at the RC, a Provisional Admission Letter is allocated to the candidates. It contains seat allotment details, fee details, and willingness for up-gradation details.

Important points to not about reporting in the WBJEE 2020 Counselling centers.
- Failing to report at an RC, leads to cancellation of the provisional allotment.
- The fee submitted at the RC is adjusted against the reporting in the further rounds of counselling.
- Even those candidates need to report at the institute, who have opted for upgradation.
- If a valid seat becomes available, the candidate is upgraded and the older allotment is released.
Documents Required for WBJEE 2020 Counselling
The candidates have to carry the following documents in original and a set of a photocopy at the RCs:
- JEE Main / WBJEE 2020 Rank Card
- JEE Main/WBJEE Admit Card 2020
- Application Confirmation Page
- Class 10 and 12 Marks Sheet
- Domicile Certificate
- Category Certificate, if required
- Counselling Fee Payment Receipt
- Domicile Certificate, if required
- PwD Certificate, if valid
- Caste Certificate
- TFW Candidate Income Certificate
- Demand Draft for Admission Fee (Last year the amount was Rs. 6000)
- 4 Passport Size Photographs

WBJEE 2020 Counselling Rounds
The Board shall conduct at least three (03) rounds in the WBJEE 2020 counselling. After all the rounds of counselling is over, the Board shall conduct a mop-round to fill the vacant seats after all rounds of counselling is over. Here is what happens in each of these rounds:
Round 1 – The candidates registered for WBJEE 2020 counselling are allotted seats based on their GMR/PMR and the choices filled. The candidates who are not allotted seats in the round 1 have to wait for the allotment of seat in the round 2.
The candidates who are allotted the seats via WBJEE 2020 counselling have to report to the VRC for document verification and other formalities. If they are not opting for up-gradation, they have to report at the allotted institute for admission. If they opt for up-gradation they are shifted in round 2 allotments.
Round 2 – In this round, the following types of candidates are included:
- Who did not get a seat in the 1st round. OR
- The allotment of whom was cancelled at the RC. OR
- Those who opted for up-gradation.
These candidates have to follow the same process as that is followed in round 1.
Note: Candidates who did not report at RC for round 1 or who withdraw the earlier allotment are not eligible. Candidates who were declared ineligible after verification are also not allowed in the round 2.
Round 3 – In round three, those candidates are allowed to participate who:
- Have registered but not participate in earlier round. OR
- Who went for up gradation. OR
- Whose seat was earlier cancelled at the RC.
These candidates have to follow the same process as that is followed in round 1 and 2.
Who Can Participate for WBJEE 2020 Counselling?
The Board notified that the candidates who fulfill the following eligibility criteria as mentioned below can participate in WBJEE 2020 counselling.
WBJEE Counselling eligibility criteria for 4-year degree course in engineering and technology:
- You must have a General Merit Rank (GMR) in WBJEE 2020
- Candidates with JEE Main 2020 AIR are also eligible and they are given admission against 10% quota seats in the self-financing colleges of the state based on their ranks.
WBJEE Counselling eligibility criteria for 4-year degree course in Pharmacy:
- You must have a Pharmacy Merit Rank (PMR) in WBJEE 2020
- Candidates with JEE Main 2020 AIR are also eligible and they are given admission against 10% quota seats in the self-financing colleges of the state based on their ranks.
WBJEE Counselling eligibility criteria for 5-year degree level architecture course:
- You must have a General Merit Rank (GMR) in WBJEE 2020
- Candidates with JEE Main 2020 AIR are also eligible and they are given admission against 10% quota seats in the self-financing colleges of the state based on their ranks.
There will be 2 separate unconnected WBJEE 2020 counselling rank holders and JEE Main 2020 rank holders. The process of counselling will be the same for both.
WBJEE 2020 Counselling Process
The process of the WBJEE 2020 counselling involves the following:
- Registration and payment of counselling fee – Check registration guidelines
- Choice filling and locking
- Release of seat allotment result
- Practice choices of accepting and freezing, up-gradation or do nothing
- Document verification by virtual reporting center (VRC) – This year due to COVID-19 there is virtual reporting and not physical reporting
- Downloading of allotment letter.
- Reporting at the allotted institute in person when notified
WBJEE Counselling 2020 Registration and Choice Filling
The WBJEE 2020 counselling is an online process and the candidates have to complete the same at wbjee.nic.in. Only once the candidates suc cessfully register for the counselling, they can proceed to complete the choice filling process. Since WBJEE counselling is conducted online, the registration form is also to be filled and submitted by online mode only. In the choice filling process, candidates can add many choices as they wish to. However, it is to be noted that after locking the choices, candidates will not be allowed to edit it.
Counselling fee: Candidates shall have to pay the following amount of the counselling fee at the time of registration:
- Rs. 500 for JEE rank holders. There is no charge for WBJEE rank holders.
Mode of payment: The WBJEE 2020 counselling fee amount shall be payable by online mode using credit/ debit card/ net banking.
How to register and do choice filling for WBJEE 2020 counselling?
To register online for WBJEE 2020 counselling, follow the instructions as provided below.
Step 1: Click on the direct link which will be given on this page for WBJEE counselling registration.
Step 2: Next, the candidates have to select if they wish to apply for counselling through WBJEE or JEE Main or both.
Step 3: Next, you have to enter details like your state of domicile, category, roll number of JEE Main / WBJEE, etc.
Step 4: After entering these information, click on the “Submit” button and then tick on the declaration form.
Step 5: Next, the candidates have to add or delete the choice(s) of college and branch. A candidate can fill as many chocies as he/ she wishes to.
Step 6: Click on the “Save & Continue” button and lock your chocies.
Step 7: Now, pay the required amount of the application fee and on completion of these steps take a print out of the locked choices for WBJEE 2020 counselling.
Few things related to choice filling, which the candidates must know are as below:
1. Filling the choices and locking them: Before locking the choices, the candidates may change it as many times as they wish. However, once the deadline to submit the choices is over, the candidates cannot change them. And if the candidates cannot lock the choices before the deadline, their choices are automatically locked thereafter.
2. How many times can you fill the choices? The facility to submit the choices for the institute and the courses are only provided in the first round of WBJEE 2020 counselling.
3. How are the options to select choices made available? The WBJEE 2020 counselling online portal displays the choices as per the eligibility of the candidates. Eligibility here means, if they are eligible for PMR or GMR or Both.
4. WBJEE rank holders and JEE Main rank holders: The counselling for WBJEE 2020 ranks holders is held in 3 rounds. However, for JEE Main 2020 rank holders it is held in 1 round.
WBJEE 2020 Opening and Closing Rank
The Board releases WBJEE opening and closing rank once after the seat allotment result is declared. It can be checked online at wbjeeb.nic.in. The opening and closing ranks for WBJEE 2020 for various programmes offered by the participating colleges on the basis of availability of seats. Candidates can check the previous year opening and closing rank from below.

West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination (WBJEE) is a state level entrance exam conducted by the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board. It is conducted to shortlist candidates for admission in Undergraduate Courses in Engineering & Technology, Pharmacy and Architecture in Universities, Govt. Colleges and Self-Financed Institutes in the State. It is conducted in offline mode and score for JEE Main is also considered for admission. Only the merit of candidates in the entrance exam is considered for shortlisting for admission.
