Karnataka B.Ed Admission 2026-27: Dates, Eligibility, Merit, Fees

Karnataka B.Ed Admission 2026-27 is the merit-based admission to government quota seats in the 2-year B.Ed course at Karnataka colleges of education. The Centralised Admission Cell of the Department of School Education runs it. There is no entrance exam: seats go by degree marks, and online applications are expected in October or November 2026.

Is there an entrance exam for Karnataka B.Ed 2026-27?

No. Karnataka fills government quota B.Ed seats on merit, without any entrance test. The Centralised Admission Cell (CAC) of the Department of School Education ranks applicants on their qualifying degree marks and allots seats online, round by round.

As per the 2025-26 notification, the same rules and eligibility also apply to candidates who take management quota seats in aided and unaided colleges of education.

Karnataka B.Ed 2026-27 Important Dates

The 2026-27 schedule is not announced yet; the dates below are expected from the 2025-26 cycle, when applications ran from 3 October to 3 November 2025.

How to Apply for Karnataka B.Ed Admission 2026-27

You apply online only, through the “Online application for admission to 2 year B.Ed course” link on the Department of School Education website. The 2026-27 link will open with the notification; in 2025-26 it was on the STS portal (sts.karnataka.gov.in/GPSTRHK).

1. Read the notification and the “Instructions to the candidates” on schooleducation.karnataka.gov.in.
2. Register on the online application page and log in with the User ID and password you create. Keep them safe; you need them for option entry and seat acceptance later.
3. Fill in personal, address, academic and income details, choose your colleges in order of preference and pick one district nodal centre (DIET or CTE) for document verification. The nodal centre cannot be changed later.
4. Upload your photo and signature (JPEG, up to 50 KB each) and certificates (PDF, 1 KB to 1 MB).
5. Pay the application fee by net banking, debit card or SBI challan, then log in again and print the completed application. The form cannot be edited after you submit it.
6. Within 7 days of applying, take the printout with original certificates and one set of self-attested copies to your chosen nodal centre for verification. If you miss this, your application is not considered.

Who can apply for Karnataka B.Ed 2026-27?

You can apply for a government quota seat if you are an Indian citizen and a Karnataka candidate with the required degree marks. The 2025-26 rules were:

• At least 50% marks in a bachelor’s degree and/or a master’s degree in Sciences, Social Sciences or Humanities.
• Or a B.E./B.Tech with specialisation in Science and Mathematics with at least 55% marks, or an equivalent qualification.
• 5% relaxation in the minimum marks for SC, ST, Category-1 and persons with disability.
• You must have studied in the 10+2+3/4 pattern (SSLC, 2-year PUC and a 3- or 4-year degree).
• You must have passed the qualifying degree exam and have its marks cards before the date of the admission notification.
• Karnataka candidate: at least 7 years of study in Karnataka between Class 1 and 2nd PUC (or the qualifying exam), and SSLC or 2nd PUC passed in Karnataka.
• In-service teachers in government or aided institutions need a service certificate and permission to study; those in unaided schools need a no-objection certificate from their employer. There is no reservation for in-service teachers.

Gadinadu and Horanadu Kannadigas, children of defence personnel and ex-servicemen, NCC cadets, NSS volunteers and sportspersons can apply under special groups with the certificates set out in the notification.

How is the Karnataka B.Ed 2026-27 merit list prepared?

The CAC ranks verified applicants on their degree marks. The maximum marks and marks obtained in all years or semesters of the degree count for merit, including subsidiary subjects (such as Constitution of India) if the university adds them to the total.

• After document verification, the CAC publishes an eligibility (merit) list.
• Candidates can file objections to the list and change their college options in the window that follows.
• After the special-group seats, government quota seats are split 50% for Arts and Commerce and 50% for Science.
• Within Science, 60% of seats go to the PCM group and 40% to the CBZ group. Unfilled seats in one group go to the other group of the same stream.

How does Karnataka B.Ed 2026-27 seat allotment work?

Seats are allotted online by roster and merit against the colleges you chose. There is no limit on the number of colleges you can choose, and you get a seat only in a college you listed. In 2025-26 there were up to five rounds.

1. Check the seat allotment list for the round on the department website.
2. If you want the allotted seat, log in with your User ID, click Accept, generate the fee challan and pay the admission fee at any State Bank of India branch.
3. Take the SBI fee receipt to your district nodal centre (CTE or DIET). After your original documents are checked again, you receive the Admission Slip.
4. Report to the allotted college with the Admission Slip by the last date for that round. If you do not, the allotted seat is cancelled.
5. If you want a better college instead, choose “Opted for second round” (allowed only once). Before each later round the CAC publishes the remaining seat matrix and opens option entry again.

Each candidate gets at most two chances to pick a college. Under the 2025-26 rules, candidates allotted a seat in the second or fourth round who did not take admission were not considered in the next round.

How are Karnataka B.Ed seats reserved?

Government quota seats follow the state reservation order (G.O. dated 3 September 2025). Seats left vacant after the final online round go to General Merit candidates.

• Kannada medium (studied Class 1 to 10 in Kannada medium): 5%.
• Women: 30%; unfilled seats go to men.
• Persons with disability (40% or more, with a district medical board certificate or UDID card): 3%.
• Special groups get 1% in all: defence 0.13%, ex-servicemen 0.15%, Gadinadu Kannadiga 0.10%, Horanadu Kannadiga 0.10%, NCC 0.15%, NSS 0.13%, sports 0.24%.
• Kalyana Karnataka (Article 371J) reservation applies in all categories for eligible candidates of Bidar, Kalaburagi, Yadgir, Raichur, Koppal, Ballari and Vijayanagara.

What is the Karnataka B.Ed course fee?

The admission fee per academic year, as fixed in the 2025-26 notification, depends on the type of college and your stream.

SC and ST candidates whose parents’ annual income is below Rs 2,50,000 get a full fee waiver at admission, if they submit valid caste and income certificates.

If you cancel after admission, a penalty is deducted from the fee: 10% within 7 days of admission, 50% within 15 days and 100% after 15 days. A student who stays absent for 15 days from the start of classes loses the seat and the fee.

Which documents do you need for Karnataka B.Ed 2026-27?

Carry the originals and one set of self-attested copies of these documents to the nodal centre:

• SSLC and 2nd PUC marks cards.
• Degree marks cards for every year or semester (repeaters: consolidated or all-attempts marks cards); PG marks cards if applicable.
• Study certificates showing 7 years of study in Karnataka (Annexure-1), and a Kannada medium certificate if claiming that quota.
• Caste and income certificate in the prescribed form (Form D for SC/ST, Form E for Category-1, Form F for 2A, 2B, 3A and 3B).
• Residence certificate from the Tahsildar where required (private candidates, Horanadu and Gadinadu Kannadigas).
• Kalyana Karnataka (371J) eligibility certificate from the Assistant Commissioner, if claimed.
• Service certificate and permission letter (in-service teachers), and special-group certificates if applicable.
