Difference Between D.EL.Ed and B.Ed.
If you are wondering what is the difference between D.EL.Ed and B.Ed., the let us clear it for you point by point:
a) Qualifications needed: D.EL.Ed can be pursued after class 12th. But, B.Ed can be done after undergraduation or after completing D.EL.Ed.
b) Scope:
1. On qualifying D.EL.Ed candidates can apply for a career as primary teachers to teach at the primary level. However, after B.Ed on can apply for primary teacher, as well as for junior teacher also to teach at the secondary level.
2. After D.EL.Ed, one cannot apply for a PG degree. However, one can apply for a PG degree after B.Ed.
c) Nature of course: D.EL.Ed is a diploma course of 2 years. B.Ed is a degree course of 2 years.
What is D.EL.Ed Course?
D.EL.Ed Course is a 2 years diploma degree programme. Diploma in Elementary Education programme aims at preparing the enrolled candidates to work in primary/ upper primary schools, that means classes 1 , 2 , 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8. The candidates after completing the programme can apply for a job as teachers teaching at the primary level in schools. The programme is of total 4 semesters that includes classroom course mixed with practical training and internships. The training is aimed at education practice and the role of teachers in grooming the students. It also aims at training the candidates towards child development.
D.EL.Ed Course Eligibility
The eligibility to enroll in D.EL.Ed course is more or less the same for all the states. The general eligibility is given below. However, for specific eligibility, candidates must check the details for their respective states as they may vary.
Age limit: This may differ from state to state. But the lower age limit mostly ranges between 17 to 18 years. The upper age limit can range between 34 to 35 years.
Qualification: The qualification is 50% in 10+2 for general category students. Relaxation of marks is given to the reserved category candidates.

The admission process is standard and is followed by all the states. This includes the below five levels:
Level 1: Check your eligibility. If eligible, apply for admission in the state of your choice.
Level 2: If application is accepted you get admit card to appear for the entrance exam
Level 3: Appear and qualify the entrance exam. The selection of candidates is based on the entrance exam score.
Level 4: Next selected candidates are called for counselling / interview.
Level 5: Final admission in the course is given based on entrance scores and performance in counselling / interview.
