SCERT Chandigarh D.El.Ed Admission 2027: Dates, Form, Merit List

SCERT Chandigarh D.El.Ed Admission 2027 is the joint admission to the two-year Diploma in Elementary Education (session 2027-28) at SCERT Sector 32C and BYTC Sector 19A, run by SCERT, UT Chandigarh. There is no entrance test: merit is based on graduation marks. The online form is expected in June to July 2027.

Is there an entrance exam for SCERT Chandigarh D.El.Ed 2027?

No. SCERT Chandigarh fills D.El.Ed seats strictly on merit at graduation level: your Bachelor’s degree percentage, plus a small weightage for an NSS certificate. You apply online, and seats are then given at physical counselling held at SCERT, Sector 32C.

Chandigarh D.El.Ed is a two-year course taken after graduation, not after Class 12. It trains teachers for the elementary classes. Two institutes take part in this joint admission: the government SCERT at Sector 32C and the recognised private Brahmrishi Yoga Training College (BYTC) at Sector 19A.

SCERT Chandigarh D.El.Ed Admission 2027 Important Dates

SCERT has not announced the 2027-28 schedule yet. In 2026 the online form was open from 25 June to 21 July 2026, the final provisional merit list came out on 29 July 2026 and counselling ran on 3 and 4, 11 and 18 August 2026, so the 2027 form is expected in June to July 2027.

How to Apply for SCERT Chandigarh D.El.Ed Admission 2027

You apply online only, on the SCERT admission portal at dhe.chd.gov.in/SCERT, once the 2027-28 prospectus is out. You can view and change your form until the last date, but not after it.

1. Open the admission portal, click Sign In and then Register. Enter your name (spelt exactly as on your Class 10 certificate), email ID and mobile number.
2. Your mobile number becomes your login ID, and the password is sent to it by SMS. You can change the password after logging in.
3. Pay the processing fee online (Rs 200 for General/OBC, Rs 100 for SC/ST in 2026) and note the transaction number. Payment verification can take up to 24 hours.
4. Log in, open Application Form and choose Apply for Joint D.El.Ed Admission. Read the instructions, then fill in your pool, category, graduation marks and institute preference carefully.
5. Upload scanned certificates as PDF files (under 200 KB each), and your photo, your signature and one parent’s signature as JPEG files (under 50 KB each).
6. Check everything and submit before the last date. Note your application form number for the merit list and counselling.

Who can apply for SCERT Chandigarh D.El.Ed 2027?

You can apply if you hold a Bachelor’s degree (B.A., B.Sc., B.Com. or equivalent) from a recognised university with at least 50% marks, or 45% if you are SC or ST. There is no age limit.

• Marks are not rounded off: 49.99% or 44.99% does not count as 50% or 45%.
• UT Pool (85% of seats): you must have passed graduation as a regular student of a Chandigarh college and studied the last two years of the degree in Chandigarh. Students of the Department of Evening Studies, Panjab University, also qualify on the same condition.
• Outside UT Pool (15% of seats): graduates of colleges outside Chandigarh, of Panjab University correspondence courses and private candidates.
• For a reserved category in the UT Pool, your certificate must be issued or endorsed by the UT Chandigarh authority; otherwise you are treated as General.
• EWS seats (10% extra) are open to applicants from all over India whose family income is below Rs 8 lakh a year and who meet the asset limits.

How many D.El.Ed seats are there in Chandigarh?

There are 165 seats in all for 2026-27: 110 at SCERT and 55 at BYTC, including the EWS seats. Each institute splits its seats between the UT Pool and the Outside UT Pool.

In the UT Pool, seats are reserved as SC 15%, OBC 3% and General 82%; the OBC share is rising in steps towards 27% over six years. The Outside UT Pool follows SC 15%, ST 7.5%, OBC 27% and General 50.5%. Within the UT Pool, 5% of seats go to defence and paramilitary wards, 5% to persons with disabilities, 2% to children and grandchildren of freedom fighters and 2% to sportspersons. Neither institute has a hostel.

How is the SCERT Chandigarh D.El.Ed 2027 merit list prepared?

The merit list ranks applicants by their graduation percentage after adding NSS weightage. No weightage is given for post-graduation or any other degree.

If two candidates tie, the older one ranks higher; if age is also the same, the one with higher Class 12 marks ranks higher. SCERT first puts up a provisional merit list on the portal and then a final provisional merit list, with the counselling schedule.

1. Open the SCERT admission website, dhe.chd.gov.in/SCERT.
2. Click the Final Provisional List link for the session (the first provisional list comes a few days earlier).
3. Open the PDF. The UT Pool and Outside UT Pool lists are given separately.
4. Find your form number and check your name, pool, category, marks and rank carefully, as the prospectus asks.
5. Note your overall and category rank and the counselling date for your pool.

How does SCERT Chandigarh D.El.Ed 2027 counselling work?

Seats are given at physical counselling at SCERT, Sector 32C, in merit order. At each round, the higher-ranked candidate who is physically present on the day and time gets preference. In 2026 the 1st counselling took the Outside UT Pool on 3 August and the UT Pool on 4 August, and the 2nd and 3rd rounds were held only for vacant seats.

Pay the admission fee on the spot once you take a seat. No admission is made after the last notified counselling, even if seats are vacant, and you cannot shift to the other institute after joining.
