Common Entrance Exams – Common entrance examinations is conducted by institutes / universities / colleges for admitting candidates in medical, dental, management and engineering courses. The exams are held at the national and regional level. National level common entrance exams are JEE, NIFT, NATA, CLAT and so on whereas regional exams are KEAM, EAMCET, Karnataka CET and the list is long. Candidates who are eligible can appear for common entrance examinations.

Types of Common Entrance Examinations

The below-mentioned are some of the national level common entrance examinations. 

  1. Common Admission Test (CAT) – It is conducted by Indian Institute of Management (IIMs) for admitting candidates in management programmes. The score of CAT is accepted by various other Indian B-Schools.  
  2. Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) – The exam is conducted by NTA for giving admission to candidates in a bachelor’s degree in the field of engineering and technology. 
  3. Common-Law Admission Test (CLAT) – It is held for admitting candidates in under-graduate and post-graduate degree programmes

The below-mentioned are some of the state-level common entrance examinations.

  1. Kerala Engineering Architecture Medical (KEAM) – It is held at the state level, to fill seats in engineering, agriculture, veterinary, forestry, and pharmacy. Architecture and medical admission in the state are done on the basis of NATA and NEET score, respectively.
  2. Karnataka CET – It is conducted for the admission into various UG courses in the colleges of Karnataka. It is a state-level exam conducted in pen-paper based mode (offline mode). Candidates who have completed 10+2 level education apply for the exam. On the basis of the score of KCET candidates will get admission for the courses.
  3. Engineering Agricultural and Medical Common Entrance Test (EAMCET) – It is conducted by Jawaharlal Nehru Technical University, Kakinada on behalf of the Andhra Pradesh State Council of Higher Education (AP SCHE). Candidate gets admission to Agriculture, Medical and Engineering courses through AP EAMCET.
