RGUCET 2027 will not be held. Rajiv Gandhi University (RGU), the Central University at Rono Hills near Itanagar, Arunachal Pradesh, now fills its seats through national tests: CUET-UG for UG, CUET-PG for PG and B.Ed, NET or GATE for PhD and NCET for ITEP. CUET-PG 2027 is tentatively set for 1 to 25 March 2027.

This page explains how Rajiv Gandhi University admits students now that RGUCET is not held: the test for each programme, 2027 dates, how to apply and how the merit list works.

Is RGUCET 2027 being held?
No. RGU’s Admission Bulletin 2026-27 says every admission now goes through an external test: CUET-UG marks for UG programmes, CUET-PG marks for PG and PG Diploma programmes, NET marks for PhD, NCET for the integrated BA-B.Ed and qualifying exam marks for certificate courses. No RGUCET was held for the 2026-27 session.
RGU ran its own RGUCET in earlier years. That test is now replaced by CUET PG and CUET UG, both conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA). The only RGU-run test left is RGUPET, used for some PhD seats.

How to Apply for RGU Admission 2027 Without RGUCET
You apply in two steps. First take the right NTA test (CUET-UG, CUET-PG or NCET) and get your score. Then register on RGU’s Samarth admission portal, reached through admissions.rgu.ac.in, and choose your programme.
Apply Online for RGUCET 2027
Applications for RGUCET 2027 are expected in May 2027.
- Register for CUET-UG, CUET-PG or NCET 2027 on the NTA website and pick the test paper RGU asks for in your programme.
- When RGU’s admission links open, go to admissions.rgu.ac.in and open the Samarth portal for your level (UG, PG or non-CUET).
- Register with your email ID or mobile number, verify it with the OTP and log in.
- Fill in personal and academic details, choose your programme and category, and upload your documents.
- Pay the application fee online if the portal asks for one, submit the form and print it.
- Watch the portal for the merit list; if you are selected, pay the admission or seat retention fee by the deadline to confirm your seat.

In 2026 the UG portal let you register your profile early, but programme selection and payment opened only after NTA declared the CUET-UG results. Expect the same order in 2027.
Which test do you need for each RGU programme in 2027?
The test depends on the programme level. This is how the 2026-27 bulletin maps them; the 2027-28 bulletin may change details.

Each RGU PG programme accepts specific CUET-PG test paper codes, so check your programme before you fill the NTA form. Some common ones from the 2026-27 bulletin:

Old RGUCET question papers are no longer useful for admission. Prepare from the CUET-PG syllabus of your paper instead.
Who can apply for RGU PG admission 2027?
Most RGU PG programmes need a bachelor’s degree under the 10+2+3 pattern, usually in the same subject, with at least 45% marks. Some programmes set a higher bar:
- MBA: bachelor’s degree in any discipline with 50% marks.
- M.Sc in agriculture subjects: B.Sc (Hons) Agriculture or B.Sc Agriculture with 55% marks.
- M.Tech CSE and MCA: B.E./B.Tech or M.Sc in Computer Science/IT or MCA; GATE scorers get preference.
- B.Ed: 50% in a bachelor’s or master’s degree in science, social science or humanities, or 55% in B.E./B.Tech.
- LLB: a bachelor’s degree in any subject.
Where a relaxation applies, SC, ST, OBC-NCL and PwD candidates get 5% off the minimum marks. For UG programmes you need Class 12 from a recognised board, with subject conditions for science programmes such as Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics for B.Sc Physics.
How is the RGU 2027 merit list prepared?
Your CUET score is the base of the merit list. RGU then adds these weightages, according to the 2026-27 bulletin:

Ties are broken by the qualifying exam percentage, then by date of birth. Extra supernumerary seats exist for sports quota, wards of RGU employees and single girl children, and EWS seats are 10% over the intake.
Is RGUPET, the RGU PhD entrance test, still held?
Yes, but only for some PhD seats. PhD admission is mainly on NET marks. RGUPET is used for ICAR-regulated programmes, for departments that get fewer than five valid applications, or where no relevant NET exists.
For the July 2026 cycle, RGU notified RGUPET on 22 June 2026 for vacant seats in 15 departments, took applications until 10 July 2026 and scheduled the test for 1 August 2026. PhD admission for the winter cycle is to be completed by 29 January 2027.
