ITI admission 2027 is the route into Industrial Training Institutes for the 2027-28 session, where students learn a trade such as Electrician, Fitter, Welder or COPA in courses of one or two years. Each state runs its own admission, mostly on Class 10 or Class 8 marks, while a few states hold an entrance test.

State-Wise ITI Admission Process 2027

There is no single national ITI admission. Government and private ITIs in each state are filled by that state’s Directorate of Training, Directorate of Technical Education or State Council for Vocational Training (SCVT), through its own online portal. Most states admit students on merit, using marks in the qualifying exam (Class 8 or Class 10, depending on the trade). Some states run a written entrance test instead.

States With an ITI Entrance Exam

Bihar is the best-known example. Bihar ITICAT 2027 is conducted by BCECEB, and seats in Bihar ITIs are allotted on the ITICAT rank. The test is pitched at Class 10 level, so revise basic Mathematics, Science and general knowledge, and practise with previous papers before the exam.

States With Merit-Based ITI Admission

In most other states, including Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Karnataka, Kerala and West Bengal, you apply online, choose trades and institutes, and a merit list is prepared from your qualifying marks. Seats are then allotted in rounds according to merit, category and your choices. This is what students usually mean by ITI admission without an entrance exam, but the method can change from year to year, so read your state’s notification.

ITI Admission Eligibility 2027

Eligibility is set trade by trade under the Craftsmen Training Scheme (CTS) of the Directorate General of Training (DGT), and states add their own rules on age, domicile and reservation. The general picture is:

ITI After 8th

A small number of trades, such as Welder in many states, accept Class 8 pass candidates. The list of 8th-pass trades is short and varies by state, so check the trade table in the notification.

ITI After 10th

Most trades need Class 10 pass. Engineering trades such as Electrician, Fitter, Turner, Machinist, Electronics Mechanic and Mechanic Motor Vehicle usually need Class 10 with Science and Mathematics. Trades such as COPA, Mechanic Diesel and Plumber generally need Class 10 pass.

ITI After 12th

Class 12 students can join any trade they qualify for at Class 10 level, and a few trades are meant for Class 12 pass candidates. Some states give extra weightage or a separate merit for higher qualifications, while others count only Class 10 marks. If you have Class 12 with Science and Mathematics, also compare ITI with a polytechnic diploma before you decide.

The minimum age is usually 14 years at the start of the session. Upper age limits, if any, and relaxations differ by state. Women, SC, ST, OBC, EWS and PwD candidates get reservation as per state policy.

How to Apply for ITI Admission 2027

The steps are similar in most states:

1. Open your state’s ITI admission page from the list above and read the 2027 notification and prospectus.
2. Register on the official state portal with a mobile number and email ID.
3. Fill in personal, academic and category details exactly as on your mark sheet and certificates.
4. Upload the scanned photo, signature and documents, and pay the application fee online if your state charges one.
5. Choose trades and ITIs in order of preference. More choices usually mean a better chance of a seat.
6. Download the merit list, take part in counselling or choice locking, and report to the allotted ITI with original documents to confirm admission.

Documents Required for ITI Admission

• Class 10 (or Class 8) mark sheet and pass certificate; Class 12 mark sheet if you have it
• Date of birth proof, usually the Class 10 certificate
• Caste, EWS or PwD certificate, if you claim reservation
• Domicile or residence certificate, and income certificate where the state asks for it
• Aadhaar or another photo ID, recent passport-size photos and a transfer or school leaving certificate

ITI Merit List, Counselling and Seat Allotment

After the application window closes, the state publishes a provisional merit list, invites objections and then releases the final merit list. Seats are allotted in one or more rounds, online or through counselling at a nodal ITI. If you get a seat, you must report with original documents and pay the fee by the deadline, or the seat goes to the next candidate. Later rounds and spot admission fill the remaining seats.

Government ITIs charge much lower fees than private ITIs and are usually filled first, so put the government ITIs you can travel to at the top of your choices. ITI fees are set by each state and by private institutes, so check the fee in your state’s prospectus rather than relying on figures quoted elsewhere.

ITI Trades and Courses: Which Is Best?

ITIs offer engineering trades (mechanical, electrical, electronics and civil work) and non-engineering trades (computer, office, apparel, beauty, food and similar). The trades below are among the most chosen. Durations and entry rules are typical CTS values and can differ slightly by state.

The best trade for you depends on your marks, your interest and the jobs available near you. Electrician and Fitter are widely accepted for apprenticeships and technician jobs, Mechanic trades suit the automobile sector, and COPA suits office and computer work. What After ITI?

At the end of an NCVT-affiliated trade, trainees take the All India Trade Test (AITT) conducted by DGT and, on passing, receive the National Trade Certificate (NTC). Trades run only under a state council lead to a state (SCVT) certificate, so check the affiliation of the ITI and trade before you lock your choices. You can verify affiliation on the official NCVT MIS portal.

• Apprenticeship: ITI pass candidates can take a paid apprenticeship with government or private employers under the Apprentices Act, through the Apprenticeship India portal.
• Jobs: ITI trades are the entry qualification for many technician and tradesman posts in railways, PSUs, defence and private industry, as well as self-employment.
• Diploma through lateral entry: many states allow ITI pass students to join the second year of a polytechnic diploma. See lateral entry admission for the state-wise routes.
