HP ITI Admission 2027 is the merit-based admission to trades in Government and Private ITIs of Himachal Pradesh, run by the Directorate of Technical Education, Vocational and Industrial Training, Sundernagar. There is no entrance test: merit comes from Class 10 marks. The online application for Session 2027-28 is expected in July 2027.

Is there an entrance exam for HP ITI admission 2027?
No. Seats in Himachal Pradesh Government and Private ITIs are filled on merit. Your merit is the total marks you scored in Class 10, and seats are then allotted online by merit, category and the trade and ITI choices you fill.
For CBSE candidates the merit is Grade Point x 9.5. For open school candidates whose certificate shows no total, the total of the first five passed subjects is used. If two candidates have the same merit, the older candidate gets preference.
Some candidates get extra weightage: 5% for an allied trade if you already passed an NCVT trade, 1% for two years of NCC training, and extra marks for sports achievements verified at a designated ITI. To compare trades before you apply, see our guide to the best ITI trades.
HP ITI Admission 2027 Important Dates
DTE Himachal Pradesh has not announced the 2027 schedule yet. In 2026 the online application ran from 13 to 19 July and the first round seats were allotted on 30 July 2026, so the 2027 application is expected in July 2027.

How to Apply for HP ITI Admission 2027
You apply online on the HP ITI admission portal, linked from hptechboard.com, once the 2027 registration opens. One registration covers all Government and Private ITIs and all trades in the state; you choose them at the choice-filling stage.
Apply Online for HP ITI 2027
Applications for HP ITI 2027 are expected in July 2027.
- Open the ITI admission portal from the Online Admission page of hptechboard.com and choose New User Registration. Fill the form in English only.
- Enter your name, date of birth and parents’ names exactly as in your Class 10 certificate; your Aadhaar should match, or verification on the SIDH portal can fail. Use an email ID and mobile number that will stay active for the whole training.
- Pay the registration fee online: Rs 450 for General candidates, Rs 350 for SC, ST and OBC candidates.
- Upload a recent colour passport-size photo (white background) and signature in JPEG, each between 10 KB and 200 KB, and fill in your category and sub-category details.
- Log in again with your Registration Number and Password, then fill and save your trade and ITI choices before the last date. A candidate who does not fill choices is not considered in that round.
- Print your registration form and keep it safe. Sports-quota candidates take the print and original certificates to the nearest designated ITI on the verification date.

How does HP ITI counselling and seat allotment work?
Seats are filled in two online counselling rounds and then in spot rounds held at each ITI, as per the 2026-27 prospectus. The first round is for Himachal Pradesh bonafide candidates and children of Himachal Pradesh or Government of India employees posted in the state; new candidates and candidates from other states can apply from the second round.
- Check your seat allocation after logging in to the portal with your Registration Number and Password, and download the selection letter.
- Report at the allotted ITI with your original certificates by the reporting date and pay the fee and funds, or the seat goes to the next candidate.
- If you want a better seat, fill fresh choices for the next round. If a new choice is allotted, your earlier seat is cancelled; if not, you keep it.
- After the online rounds, vacant seats are shown on the website and spot rounds are held at each ITI. You must already be registered on the portal (new candidates register and pay the fee online first).
- In a spot round, take the printed application form, original documents and a photo identity proof to the ITI between 10:00 AM and 12:30 PM. The ITI makes a merit list that day from the forms received, and the previous day’s list is not valid.
- If you get a seat in the spot round, pay all fees and funds at once. In 2026 spot admissions were made on unreserved merit, and candidates already admitted could not change institute or trade.
In 2026 the first round seats were allotted on 30 July and spot rounds ran in August, September and October, as the Directorate General of Training kept extending the last admission date, finally to 15 October 2026.
How to Check the HP ITI Merit List and Seat Allotment
Himachal Pradesh does not publish 1st, 2nd and 3rd merit list PDFs. In the online rounds your result is the seat allocation you see after logging in, and in the spot rounds each ITI prepares its own daily merit list.
- Open the HP ITI admission portal from hptechboard.com on the seat allocation date (30 July in 2026).
- Log in under User Login with your Registration Number and Password.
- Check the ITI and trade allotted to you and download the selection letter.
- For spot rounds, check the vacant seat list on the website, apply at the ITI by the given time, and ask the ITI for that day’s merit list.
Who can apply for HP ITI admission 2027?
You need to have passed Class 10 under the 10+2 system or its equivalent. Many engineering trades also need Science and Mathematics in Class 10. The 2026-27 rules set a minimum age of 14 years on 1 August 2026 (18 years for Driver cum Mechanic LMV), with no upper age limit.

A medical fitness certificate from a Government medical officer is needed at admission. You cannot take a fresh NCVET admission while you still have an active admission on the SIDH portal, for example in an unfinished two-year trade.
Which trades and ITIs are available in Himachal Pradesh?
The 2026-27 prospectus lists about 25,000 seats in 136 Government ITIs (plus a driving training school at Una) and about 17,000 seats in 135 Private ITIs, across 58 NCVET and SCVT trades. These are some of the main ones.

The list also has newer trades such as Solar Technician (Electrical), IoT Technician (Smart Agriculture and Smart City), Technician Mechatronics and certificate courses in Horticulture, Natural Farming and Dairying. Seats and trades can change once the Directorate General of Training issues the seat matrix.
How are HP ITI seats reserved?
Seats are reserved by category (vertical) and then by sub-category (horizontal) within each category, as per the 2026-27 prospectus. Certificates must be issued by the competent authority.

In addition, 30% of seats in co-educational ITIs are for women, all seats in women’s ITIs are for women, all seats in ITI (PwD) Sundernagar are for persons with disabilities, two seats per ITI are for a single girl child and one seat per trade per ITI is for orphans.
What are the fees in HP Government and Private ITIs?
Fees are paid at the ITI after you get a seat. On a subsidised seat in a Government ITI the 2026-27 fee and funds come to Rs 5,570 for the first six months, including Rs 1,000 refundable security. Women pay no tuition fee, and candidates with 40% or more disability pay no admission or tuition fee.

Fees and funds are due by the 10th of February and August each year; after that a late fee of Rs 15 a day applies until the 25th. Fees paid at a Government ITI cannot be adjusted against a Private ITI seat, or the other way round.
