Is there an entrance exam for Telangana ITI admission 2027?
No. DET Telangana does not hold any entrance test for ITI admission. Seats are allotted online on the basis of your SSC (Class 10) or equivalent marks, your reservation category and the ITI and trade options you submit, a system the prospectus calls merit-cum-reservation.
One online application covers every Advanced Technology Centre (ATC), Government ITI and private ITI in the state. Class 8 pass candidates can apply for the trades that accept them, but Class 10 pass candidates get preference.
ITI courses are skill-training courses under the Craftsmen Training Scheme, and trainees take the All India Trade Test for the National Trade Certificate. To compare trades before you apply, see our guide to the best ITI trades.

How to Check the Telangana ITI 2027 Merit List and Seat Allotment
Telangana does not publish a separate merit list PDF for you to search. Seats are allotted online phase by phase from the merit of approved applications, and your allotment is sent by SMS and email and shown in your applicant login.
- Open iti.telangana.gov.in and click Applicant Login (Already registered).
- Sign in with your registered mobile number and password.
- Check your application status and, after each phase, your provisional allotment: the ITI and trade allotted to you.
- Download the Provisional Seat Allotment Order. No separate allotment letter is posted.
- Report at the allotted ITI by the date and time on the order with the allotment order, all original certificates and any fee due. If you do not report in time, the seat is cancelled automatically.
After reporting, the ITI issues an admission slip. Your admission is final only after the 3-step trainee verification (mobile OTP, photo capture and Aadhaar eKYC) generates your Permanent Registration Number (PRN), which you need for the All India Trade Test.
How do the Telangana ITI admission phases and walk-in rounds work?
Seats are filled in phases. After the first phase, vacant seats go to the next phase on a revised merit list that includes fresh applications, and candidates who have already reported can submit fresh options to slide to a better ITI or trade.
- Sliding is open only to candidates who reported at their allotted ITI and submitted fresh options. If no new seat is allotted, you keep your old seat.
- If a new seat is allotted, the old one is cancelled automatically. Failing to report at the new ITI means losing both seats.
- If you missed reporting or did not get a seat, you can submit revised options in the next phase on the same application.
- The last phases are walk-in rounds. In 2026 you applied online, then reported at the Government or private ITI of your choice before 11 AM; seats were filled daily from the common merit list, and a walk-in admission was final with no sliding.
Vacant seats are updated every morning during walk-in rounds on the Vacant Seats page of the website, so check it before you choose an ITI to visit.
Who can apply for Telangana ITI admission 2027?
You must be an Indian national who has passed SSC (Class 10) from the Telangana board or an equivalent board such as CBSE, ICSE, NIOS, TOSS or APOSS. Eight trades also accept Class 8 pass candidates. Under the 2026 rules you had to be at least 14 years old on 1 August 2026 (16 for Drone Technician), with no upper age limit.
| Entry qualification | Trades (official trade list) |
|---|---|
| Class 8 pass | Welder, Plumber, Sheet Metal Worker, Wireman, Painter General, Wood Work Technician, Dress Making, Sewing Technology |
| Class 10 pass | All other 39 trades, including Electrician, Fitter, Mechanic Diesel, COPA, Draughtsman (Civil) and the six ATC trades |
You cannot take a fresh admission while you hold an active ITI admission from a previous or the current year until that course is completed and its result declared. Your Aadhaar details must match your SSC memo, or the application can be rejected.

For 2026-27 admissions were notified in 65 ATCs, 63 Government ITIs and 230 private ITIs, offering 47 trades (6 in ATCs and 41 in ITIs). The ATC trades are Industry 4.0 courses introduced in Government ITIs with Tata Technologies. These are the trades with the most seats in 2026.

How many Telangana ITI seats were filled in 2026?
Telangana does not publish closing ranks or marks for ITI admission, so there is no official cut off. The seat sheet uploaded on 23 September 2026, after the 4th phase, shows that Government ITIs and ATCs filled almost all their seats while many private ITI seats stayed vacant.
| Institutes (official Seats Open / Vacant Seats 2026) | Seats opened | Admitted | Vacant |
|---|---|---|---|
| Government ITIs and ATCs (67 institutes) | 19,792 | 18,766 | 1,026 |
| Private ITIs (221 institutes) | 31,548 | 22,185 | 9,363 |
| Total | 51,340 | 40,951 | 10,389 |
Expect Government ITI and ATC seats in popular trades to fill in the early phases in 2027, so apply in phase 1 with many options. Private ITI seats are more likely to remain for the walk-in rounds.
How are Telangana ITI seats reserved?
Seats are first split between local and open candidates and then reserved by category, as per the 2026 prospectus. All candidates compete for the open seats first, then the reserved seats are filled.
| Quota (2026 prospectus) | Share of seats |
|---|---|
| Local candidates / open to all (local and non-local) | 95% / 5% |
| SC (Group I / II / III) | 15% (1% / 9% / 5%) |
| ST | 10% |
| BC-A / BC-B / BC-C / BC-D / BC-E | 7% / 10% / 1% / 7% / 4% |
| EWS | 10% |
| Women (co-education ITIs, within each category) | 33.33% |
| Persons with disabilities / children of ex-servicemen | 3% / 2% |
| IMC quota (certain Government ITIs under the PPP scheme, fee-paying) | 20% |
Children of registered construction workers (BOCW) get a reservation only in the six ATC trades. Some special-category ITIs follow their own quotas, such as ST 90% in four tribal-area Government ITIs and 100% minority seats in Govt. ITI (Minority) Bodhan and seven private minority ITIs.
