An agriculture entrance exam 2027 is your route into B.Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture, horticulture, forestry, fisheries, agricultural engineering, veterinary science and the M.Sc. and PhD programmes that follow. Some tests are national, run by NTA for ICAR, while most are state or university tests.

Top Agriculture Entrance Exams Explained

ICAR UG Admission Through CUET UG

The Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) no longer holds a separate undergraduate test. It fills its all-India quota seats in B.Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture and allied UG courses at agricultural universities using CUET UG scores, conducted by NTA, followed by ICAR’s own online counselling. If you want a seat outside your home state, take CUET UG with the subject combination ICAR asks for. See ICAR 2027 for the admission process.

ICAR AIEEA UG (No Longer Held)

ICAR AIEEA UG was the national B.Sc. agriculture entrance exam until CUET UG replaced it. The page is kept for reference and its previous year question papers are still useful practice. Do not wait for an AIEEA UG application; register for CUET UG instead.

ICAR AIEEA PG

ICAR AIEEA PG is conducted by NTA for admission to master’s programmes (M.Sc., M.V.Sc., M.Tech. and agri-business) at ICAR institutes and agricultural universities, and for the ICAR PG scholarship. Take it in the final year of your B.Sc. Agriculture or a related four-year degree.

ICAR AICE-JRF/SRF (PhD)

ICAR AICE-JRF/SRF (PhD) is the national PhD entrance exam in agriculture and allied sciences, also conducted by NTA. It decides PhD admission at participating universities and the award of JRF/SRF fellowships. It is meant for students who hold, or are finishing, a relevant master’s degree.

UPCATET

UPCATET is Uttar Pradesh’s combined agriculture and technology entrance test, conducted by the state agricultural universities. It covers B.Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture and related UG courses, and some PG programmes, at UP’s agricultural universities. If you live in UP, this is the main state route alongside CUET UG.

MP PAT

MP PAT (Pre Agriculture Test) is conducted by MPESB for B.Sc. Agriculture, horticulture and related seats at Madhya Pradesh’s agricultural colleges. Students from MP with PCB, PCM or agriculture in Class 12 should check it. The state also runs MP ADDET for agriculture diploma admissions.

Rajasthan JET

Rajasthan JET is the joint entrance test for UG agriculture, horticulture, forestry, dairy and food technology seats at Rajasthan’s state agricultural universities. It is conducted by one of these universities each year. Its PG and PhD counterparts are Rajasthan Pre PG and Rajasthan Pre PhD.

OUAT

OUAT, Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology, Bhubaneswar, runs its own entrance test for UG courses in agriculture, horticulture, forestry, fisheries, agricultural engineering and allied subjects. Odisha students who want a state university seat should apply here as well as through CUET UG.

Which Entrance Exam for Agriculture After 12th?

There is no single B.Sc. Agriculture entrance exam for the whole country. Which test you need depends on the university and quota you are aiming for, so most students take CUET UG plus their home state’s exam.

In short, if you are asking which entrance exam B.Sc. Agriculture needs, the answer is usually CUET UG for national seats and your state’s CET for state seats. Apply to both to keep your options open.

Agriculture Entrance Exams Other Than ICAR

Most agriculture seats in India sit in state agricultural universities, and many states fill them through their own exams. The main state routes we track are:

Andhra Pradesh: AP EAPCET for B.Sc. Agriculture and allied courses, and AGRICET (ANGRAU) for agriculture diploma holders seeking B.Sc. seats.
Telangana: TG EAPCET, and TS AGRICET (PJTAU) for diploma holders.
Bihar and Jharkhand: BCECE and JCECE, which include agriculture courses.
Chhattisgarh: CG PAT PVPT by CG Vyapam, and IGKV CET.
Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh: GBPUAT (Pantnagar) and CSKHPKV (Palampur).
Jammu and Kashmir: SKUAST Jammu CET.
Maharashtra: MHT CET for UG agriculture and MCAER PG CET for M.Sc. admissions.
Kerala: agriculture and allied courses are filled through the CEE Kerala process (see KEAM), which uses NEET UG scores for these courses.
Tamil Nadu: TNAU admission is based on Class 12 marks, not an entrance test.

Private and deemed universities such as SHUATS, SOA (SAAT) and Vignan (V-SAT) run their own tests. Check each exam’s page for courses and domicile rules.

Veterinary Entrance Exams: How BVSc Admission Works

There is no separate national veterinary entrance exam any more. BVSc and AH admission runs on NEET UG scores: the Veterinary Council of India fills the all-India quota through its own counselling, and states fill their quota through state counselling, mostly also on NEET UG. A few states still hold their own veterinary test, such as MP PVFT in Madhya Pradesh. If you want to become a veterinary doctor, prepare for NEET UG with Physics, Chemistry and Biology. For M.V.Sc., the main national route is ICAR AIEEA PG.

Diploma and Polytechnic Agriculture Entrance Exams

If you have finished Class 10, some states offer a two or three year diploma in agriculture, horticulture or agricultural engineering through a separate test. Andhra Pradesh and Telangana run AGRI POLYCET through their agricultural universities, and Madhya Pradesh runs MP ADDET. Diploma holders can later move into B.Sc. Agriculture through tests such as AGRICET and TS AGRICET.

B.Sc Agriculture Admission Without Entrance Exam

You can get into B.Sc. Agriculture without an entrance exam in some places, but the choice is narrower:

Merit-based state admissions: Tamil Nadu Agricultural University and its affiliated colleges admit on Class 12 marks.
Private universities and colleges: many admit on Class 12 marks or a short interview. Check that the course is recognised by ICAR or your state before you pay.
Management quota: some private institutions keep a share of seats for direct admission, usually at higher fees.

Merit or direct admission is never guaranteed. Seats at ICAR institutes, central universities and most state agricultural universities need CUET UG or a state or university test, so register for at least one.

M.Sc Agriculture and PhD Entrance Exams

After B.Sc. Agriculture, the national route to M.Sc. is ICAR AIEEA PG, and to a PhD it is ICAR AICE-JRF/SRF (PhD). Many state universities also run their own PG and PhD tests, such as Rajasthan Pre PG, Rajasthan Pre PhD, MCAER PG CET and SKUAST Jammu CET. Some central universities use CUET PG. Agri-business MBA seats at agricultural universities are usually filled through ICAR AIEEA PG or the university’s own process, so check the institute you want.

Eligibility for Agriculture Entrance Exam 2027

UG (B.Sc. Agriculture and allied): Class 12 with Physics and Chemistry plus Biology, Mathematics or Agriculture. Many universities accept both PCB and PCM, so Maths is not always compulsory.
Agricultural engineering: usually needs PCM.
Veterinary (BVSc and AH): Class 12 with PCB and English, and a valid NEET UG score.
PG: a relevant bachelor’s degree, usually a four-year B.Sc. in agriculture or an allied subject.
PhD: a relevant master’s degree.

How to Prepare for Agriculture Entrance Exams

Most UG agriculture tests are objective, multiple choice papers on Class 11 and 12 Physics, Chemistry and Biology or Maths, and some add an Agriculture section. PG and PhD papers test your chosen discipline, such as agronomy, horticulture or plant breeding.

Read the official syllabus of each exam you will take and list the common topics.
Build your base from NCERT Class 11 and 12 textbooks. The overlap with NEET is large, so NEET aspirants can use the same preparation.
If your state exam has an Agriculture paper, revise the Class 11 and 12 agriculture syllabus of your board.
For PG and PhD, revise your major subject from your B.Sc. or M.Sc. course notes first, then allied subjects.
Solve previous year question papers and take timed mock tests to build speed.
Keep a short revision sheet of scientific names, crop varieties, soil types and key formulae.

Agriculture Entrance Exams 2027 FAQs

Which is the main entrance exam for B.Sc Agriculture after 12th?

For national seats, it is CUET UG. ICAR uses CUET UG scores to fill its all-India quota seats in B.Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture and allied courses. For state seats, take your home state’s exam, such as UPCATET, MP PAT, Rajasthan JET, AP EAPCET or KCET.

Is ICAR AIEEA UG still conducted?

No. ICAR AIEEA UG has been replaced by CUET UG for ICAR’s undergraduate admissions. To get an ICAR quota seat, register for CUET UG and then take part in ICAR counselling.

Which entrance exam is needed for M.Sc Agriculture?
