The IGKV CET 2027 syllabus is set by IGKV’s Directorate of Instructions and Controller of Examinations. The latest official version, for 2025-26, has four parts based on your bachelor’s degree: B.Sc. (Ag.), B.Sc. (Hort.), B.Sc. Forestry and B.Tech (Agril. Engg.). The 2027 syllabus is not out yet and is expected to follow it.

What topics come in the B.Sc. (Agriculture) stream syllabus?
This part covers the core B.Sc. (Ag.) subjects. The main units are:
- Agronomy: tillage, crop geometry, field crops, weed management, water management, farming systems
- Agricultural Economics: demand and supply, marketing, farm management, agricultural finance and credit
- Agricultural Extension Education: extension methods, rural sociology, communication, entrepreneurship
- Entomology: insect morphology, major crop pests, IPM, insecticides, beneficial insects
- Genetics and Plant Breeding: Mendelian genetics, breeding methods, seed technology, IPR and PPV&FR Act
- Plant Pathology: disease causes, epidemiology, fungi, bacteria, viruses, crop diseases
- Soil Science: soil physics and chemistry, plant nutrients, fertility, problem soils, fertilisers
- Horticulture: vegetables, spices, fruit crops, plantation crops, post-harvest technology
- Also: Molecular Biology and Biotechnology, Agricultural Statistics, Plant Physiology, Microbiology, Agricultural Meteorology
How is the B.Sc. (Horticulture) stream syllabus different?
It keeps the same agriculture units but replaces the single Horticulture unit with three detailed ones:
- Floriculture and Landscape
- Fruit Science
- Vegetable Science
What topics come in the B.Sc. Forestry stream syllabus?
The forestry part is the longest and follows the B.Sc. Forestry course:
- Silviculture principles, silvicultural systems and silviculture of Indian trees
- Forest mensuration, forest management, policy and legislation
- Tree improvement, tree seed technology and nursery management
- Agroforestry systems, plantation forestry, medicinal and aromatic plants
- Forest pathology, forest entomology, wood science, wood anatomy and wood products
- Forest ecology, wildlife, rangeland management, forest engineering and forest economics
- Soils, hydrology, soil and water conservation, statistics and computer application
What topics come in the M.Tech (Agricultural Engineering) stream syllabus?
B.Tech graduates are tested on engineering subjects:
- Farm machinery and equipment, tractor and automotive engines, tractor systems and control
- Mechanics of tillage and traction, human engineering and safety
- Irrigation and drainage, fluid mechanics, ground water hydrology
- Soil erosion, soil conservation structures and soil mechanics
- Renewable energy sources
- Refrigeration, air-conditioning and packaging; engineering properties of biological materials and food quality
- Mathematics
What is the IGKV CET 2027 exam pattern and marking?
Expect 200 objective questions in 2 hours, 1 mark each, with no negative marking, as on past PG papers.

How should I prepare for IGKV CET 2027?
- Start with the units of your own degree stream and your B.Sc. or B.Tech course notes.
- Solve past papers in 2 hours to build speed; there are 200 questions, so aim for about 35 seconds each.
- Revise Chhattisgarh-specific topics, such as irrigation development in the state, which the syllabus names.
- Attempt every question, since wrong answers cost nothing.
