The ICAR syllabus 2027 depends on your level. UG seats use the CUET UG subject syllabus at Class 12 level. AIEEA (PG) follows ICAR’s syllabus for 20 major subject groups at Bachelor’s level, and AICE-JRF/SRF (PhD) follows its subject-wise syllabus at Master’s level. What does the ICAR PG syllabus cover?
You choose one major subject group in the application, and all 120 questions come from that group’s syllabus, such as Plant Sciences, Horticulture, Agronomy, Social Sciences or Agricultural Engineering. The full group list and topics are on the ICAR AIEEA PG syllabus page.
What does the ICAR PhD syllabus cover?
The PhD paper has three parts, all from ICAR’s syllabus for your subject.
- Part A (20 questions): general knowledge of agriculture, animal husbandry, dairying, fisheries and allied sciences, common to all subjects.
- Part B (50 questions): the core group that contains your PhD subject.
- Part C (50 questions): your specialised subject at Master’s level.

What is the ICAR 2027 exam pattern and marking?
The PG and PhD papers are 2-hour computer-based tests of 120 MCQs for 480 marks, in English. The table shows the 2026 pattern, the latest official one.

How to Prepare for the ICAR 2027 Exams
- Download the syllabus of your own subject group or subject first; nothing outside it is asked.
- For PG, revise your Bachelor’s degree course notes; for PhD, your Master’s courses and the core group.
- Practise with previous papers, such as the ICAR AIEEA PG question papers.
- Since each wrong answer costs 1 mark, answer only when you can rule out most options.
- Take timed computer-based mock tests to get used to 120 questions in 2 hours.
