What is in Section I of the Odisha D.El.Ed syllabus?
Section I has 30 one-mark questions on four areas. All areas except English are asked in both Odia and English.

What is asked in the language section (Odia, Telugu, Urdu or Santali)?
The language section has 15 questions in your chosen script: Odia, Telugu, Urdu or Santali (Ol Chiki). Santali quota candidates must take this section in Santali.

- Parts of speech: noun, adjective, verb

- Formation of words using prefixes and suffixes, synonyms and antonyms

Which maths topics are in the Odisha D.El.Ed syllabus?
Mathematics has 15 questions from these topics:
- HCF and LCM
- Square and square root
- Percentage and its uses: profit and loss, simple and compound interest
- Ratio and proportion
- Linear algebraic equations and their solutions
- Sets: elements and operations
- Basic geometrical concepts
- Geometry of triangles, quadrilaterals and circles
What social science and science topics should I study?
Social Science and Science have 15 questions each. Social Science topics:
- Stone age, Vedic age and medieval age
- Stages of the freedom movement in India
- Features of the Indian Constitution
- Governance in India: local self-government, state and central government
- Earth and its structure, latitude and longitude
- Climate and atmosphere
- Conservation of natural resources and protection of the environment
Science topics:
- States of matter and their characteristics
- Chemical reactions
- Force, energy and motion
- Plant cells and animal cells
- Structure and adaptation in plants
- Micro-organisms
How is the Odisha D.El.Ed exam marked?
Each question carries 1 mark and 0.25 mark is cut for every wrong answer. Marking more than one option counts as a wrong answer. The full test is 90 questions for 90 marks in 90 minutes, and candidates with benchmark disabilities get 20 extra minutes per hour.
Merit is based only on these marks, using normalised scores when the test runs in several shifts. Last year’s closing marks are on the Odisha D.El.Ed result page.
Where can I download the official syllabus PDF?
The syllabus is printed in the information brochure on the SAMS D.El.Ed portal. The 2027 brochure is expected in May 2027 with the admission notice.

How should I prepare for the Odisha D.El.Ed entrance?
- Use Class 6 to 10 Odisha board (BSE) and NCERT books for maths, science and social science, since the topics are at school level.
- Practise Odia grammar topics such as sabda, derivation, prefixes, suffixes and idioms.
- Read about education commissions, new initiatives such as NEP 2020, and Odisha news for general awareness.
- For teaching aptitude, focus on classroom management, learner issues and teaching-learning strategies.
- Take timed online mocks to get used to the CBT and avoid guessing, because wrong answers cost 0.25 mark.
