Preparation Tips and Recommended Books
- Physics: NCERT Class 11 & 12 (mandatory), H.C. Verma (Concepts of Physics), D.C. Pandey (Understanding Physics), Resnick-Halliday-Walker.
- Chemistry: NCERT Class 11 & 12 (mandatory), O.P. Tandon (Inorganic, Organic & Physical Chemistry), P. Bahadur (Numerical Chemistry), M.S. Chouhan (Organic Chemistry).
- Mathematics (PCM): NCERT Class 11 & 12, R.D. Sharma / R.S. Aggarwal, M.L. Khanna (IIT Mathematics), Cengage Mathematics series.
- Biology (PCB): NCERT Class 11 & 12 (most important — cover thoroughly), Trueman’s Elementary Biology (Vol. 1 & 2), Pradeep’s Biology, Dinesh Objective Biology.
- Solve JCECE previous year question papers (2023 and earlier) to understand PCM / PCB question style, difficulty level, and actual subject-wise distribution.
- Practise full-length OMR mock tests under timed conditions (2-hour PCM or 1-hour PCB).
- Use negative marking strategy — attempt only MCQs where you can apply confident reasoning, since wrong answers cost –0.25.
- For PCB candidates targeting B.V.Sc / B.Sc Agriculture, focus heavily on Biology (especially Plant Physiology, Reproduction, Genetics, Ecology) as it is the differentiating subject.

FAQs – JCECE 2026 Syllabus
The JCECE 2026 Syllabus is based on the NCERT Class 11 and Class 12 curriculum prescribed by CBSE and the Jharkhand state board. JCECEB publishes the official syllabus in the information brochure on jceceb.jharkhand.gov.in. It covers Physics, Chemistry, and either Mathematics (PCM group) or Biology (PCB group) depending on the candidate’s stream.
Physics: NCERT Class 11 & 12, H.C. Verma (Concepts of Physics), D.C. Pandey; Chemistry: NCERT, O.P. Tandon, P. Bahadur; Mathematics (PCM): NCERT, R.D. Sharma / R.S. Aggarwal; Biology (PCB): NCERT (most important), Trueman’s Elementary Biology (Vol. 1 & 2), Pradeep’s Biology, Dinesh Objective Biology. Also solve JCECE previous year question papers from aglasem.com to understand the actual MCQ pattern.
Yes. For each correct answer, +1 mark is awarded; for each wrong answer, 0.25 mark (one-fourth) is deducted. Unattempted questions get zero marks. Multiple marks on an OMR question are treated as wrong. PCM candidates write a 2-hour paper (Physics & Chemistry); PCB candidates write a 1-hour paper (Mathematics or Biology). Both groups get the paper in English and Hindi.
Both PCM and PCB groups cover Physics and Chemistry with identical NCERT Class 11 & 12 syllabus. The differentiating third subject is Mathematics for PCM (for B.Tech Dairy Technology / B.Tech Agriculture Engineering admissions) and Biology for PCB (for B.V.Sc & AH / B.Sc Agriculture / B.Sc Forestry / B.Sc Horticulture / B.F.Sc admissions). Candidates can apply for both groups by paying a higher combined application fee.
The official JCECE 2026 syllabus is published in the JCECEB information brochure / prospectus on jceceb.jharkhand.gov.in. The brochure lists the complete syllabus for all four subjects (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Biology) section-wise. Practise with previous year question papers at https://admission.aglasem.com/jcece-question-papers/ to understand the actual exam standard.
