What is the UPCATET UG syllabus for each paper group?
Each UG group is set from the UP Board (UPMSP) Intermediate syllabus of its subjects, plus a General Knowledge section common to all groups. The number of questions from each subject in the 2026 paper is below.

Biology in PCB and Mathematics in PCM carry the most questions, so they decide most ranks. In a tie, marks in question group D (the main subject) count first, then C, B and A.
What is the syllabus for UPCATET Master’s, Ph.D. and MBA papers?
Master’s papers cover the bachelor’s degree syllabus of the subject and Ph.D. papers the master’s degree syllabus. Every Master’s paper has 25 General Knowledge questions; for example, the M.Sc. (Ag.) and M.Sc. (Horticulture) paper (MAG) covers Agronomy, Horticulture, Soil Science, Genetics and Plant Breeding, Entomology, Plant Pathology, Agricultural Economics, Extension, Statistics, Biotechnology and Forestry.
- Ph.D. Statistics section (20 questions): central tendency and dispersion, skewness and kurtosis, probability, normal distribution, t, Z, F and chi-square tests, regression and correlation, sampling for crop estimation surveys.
- Ph.D. Statistics also covers analysis of variance, CRD, RBD, Latin square and factorial designs, split plot design, analysis of covariance and the missing plot technique.
- MBA (Agri-Business Management): 70 General Knowledge questions and 30 questions of General English at High School level.
What is the UPCATET 2027 marking scheme?
Every question carries 4 marks and 1 mark is deducted for each wrong answer. Unanswered questions get no marks.

How should I prepare for UPCATET 2027?
- Study your UP Board Class 11 and 12 textbooks for each subject in your group; the paper follows that syllabus.
- For PCB and PCM, spend the most time on Biology or Mathematics, which carry 80 of the 200 questions.
- Read current affairs and general knowledge for the 20 GK questions, which come in every paper.
- Skip guesses you are unsure of, because each wrong answer costs 1 mark.
Then solve the UPCATET previous year papers under a 3-hour time limit.
