Which paper do PVPT candidates take?
PVPT candidates take the Physics, Chemistry and Biology paper of PAT/PVPT. In 2026 the official PVPT merit list was drawn only from the biology-group candidates, 4,801 of them.

Physics covers mechanics, heat, waves, optics, electricity, magnetism and modern physics. The main units in the official syllabus are:
- Units and dimensions, motion in one and two dimensions, Newton’s laws, friction, work, energy and power.
- Rotation, moment of inertia, gravitation and satellites.
- Elasticity, surface tension, kinetic theory, specific heats, thermodynamic processes and heat transfer.
- Oscillations, waves, Doppler effect, interference, reflection, refraction, lenses and optical instruments.
- Photoelectric effect, Bohr model, radioactivity, nuclear fission and semiconductors.
- Electrostatics, capacitors, current electricity, magnetic effects of current, electromagnetic induction and AC circuits.
What topics come in CG PVPT Chemistry?
Chemistry has three parts: General and Physical (20 marks), Inorganic (20 marks) and Organic (10 marks).
- General and Physical: atomic structure, chemical bonding, solutions, solid state, nuclear chemistry, equilibrium, ionic equilibrium, thermodynamics, kinetics, electrochemistry, surface chemistry.
- Inorganic: metallurgy, periodicity, s, p, d and f block elements, families of elements, transition metals, coordination compounds, qualitative analysis.
- Organic: formulae and nomenclature, hydrocarbons, haloalkanes, alcohols, phenols, ethers, aldehydes, ketones, acids, amines, polymers and biomolecules.
What topics come in CG PVPT Biology?
Biology carries 50 marks, split equally between Botany and Zoology.
- Botany: cell structure and division, genetics and Mendel’s laws, DNA replication and gene expression, prokaryotes and viruses, plant kingdoms, plant anatomy, mineral nutrition, photosynthesis and respiration, plant hormones, ecosystems, economic botany and biotechnology.
- Zoology: animal tissues, human organ systems, endocrine glands, reproduction and development, chromosomes and sex determination, blood groups, animal classification, evolution, economic zoology (sericulture, apiculture, poultry, fishery), human diseases, immunity, wildlife conservation and pesticides.

How should I prepare for the CG PVPT syllabus?
Start with NCERT Class 11 and 12 Physics, Chemistry and Biology, because the topic lists follow the same chapters. Give Zoology extra time, since animal systems, reproduction and economic zoology match the diploma courses.
