TANCET 2018 – Tamilnadu Common Entrance Test by Anna University
On the basis of marks secured by the candidates in the exam, they will be invited for final counselling round. The counselling of TANCET is called as TANCA and is also conducted by the Anna University. The official dates for TANCET 2018 have been announced, check the updates in the table below:

Eligibility Criteria for TANCET 2018
University has set some eligibility criteria for the candidates who wish to apply for the test. Candidates can read below the criteria according to the programme they are applying for:
Eligibility Criteria for MBA
- Candidates who are applying for MBA must have bachelors’ degree with aggregate 50% marks.
- The study pattern for eligible candidates could be 10+2+3/4 years of degree or it can even be 10+ 3 years of diploma or
- Candidate must have done B.Tech/ B.Arch/ B.E/ B/Pharm
- Candidate whose study pattern is 10+2+ AMIE/ 10+3 years Diploma + AMIE is also eligible for MBA
Eligibility Criteria for MCA
- Candidate must have Bachelor’s degree of minimum 3 years duration with mathematics at 10+2 level or at Graduate level and obtained at least 50 % (45 % in the case of candidates belonging
to reserved category) in the qualifying degree examination.
- The study pattern for eligible candidates could be 10+2+3/4 years of degree or it can even be 10+ 3 years of diploma or
- Candidate whose study pattern is 10+2+ AMIE/ 10+3 years Diploma + AMIE is also eligible for MCA
Eligibility Criteria for MCA Lateral Entry
- Candidate must have a degree in BCA, B.Sc (Computer Science/ IT) with an aggregate of 50% in qualifying exam and mathematics in 10+2 or graduate level
- Study pattern of applying candidate could be like 10+2+3 years of degree
Eligibility Criteria for M.E/ M.Tech/ M.Arch/ M.Plan
- Candidate must have Bachelor’s Degree with an aggregate of 50% marks in qualifying exam
- Candidate must have done B.E/ B.Tech/ B.Arch Or B.Pharm Or
- Study pattern of the candidate should be 10+2+ AMIE Or 10+2+ 3 years Diploma + AMI

Category of Candidates applying for M.E./M.Tech./ M.Arch. / M.Plan programmes
Applicants who have applied for TANCET 2018 for full time will be grouped as given below:
TANCET Category: Candidates should appear for TANCET 2018 if they wish to be considered under TANCET category.
- GATE Category: Candidates who have a valid GATE 2016, GATE 2017 and GATE 2018 score with qualifying marks for assistantship in the appropriate discipline of Engineering /Technology and Candidates who have a valid GATE 2016, GATE 2017 and GATE 2018 score with qualifying marks for assistantship in Engineering Science (XE) and Life Science (XL) papers should appear for TANCET 2018 also.
- Sponsored Category: A limited number of seats (full time only) is made available for the candidates employed and sponsored by the Government organisations, Government aided educational institutions and registered professional architects with a minimum of 5 years professional experience, under sponsored category. All such candidates who intend to apply under sponsored category have to appear for TANCET 2018.
TANCET 2018 Application Form
The application form is released for TANCET 2018. Applicants can apply for the test using online mode only. The application process for all the programmes will be same. It is expected that candidates will read all the instructions before applying for the exam. Candidates can access application form directly from the website and they need to provide all the mandatory details in the form while applying for the same.
Application Fee: Candidates appearing for TANCET 2018 have to pay fees as stated below;
Candidates who wish to apply for more than 1 programme are required to pay INR 500/ INR 250 for each additional programme according to their category.
TANCET 2018 Hall Ticket
Hall Ticket will be issued only to those candidates who will successfully filled the Application Form and Paid the Application Fee. TANCET 2018 Hall Ticket will be issued in the month of May 2018 and applicants will be able to download it from Anna University site.
The Registration Number assigned in the Hall Ticket should be entered at the appropriate place in the admission application form to be filed with the respective admitting authority later.
Note – In case the hall ticket is lost by the candidate, a duplicate hall ticket might be available to be obtained on payment of fees of Rs 100/- in the form of a Demand Draft, with a written request to The Secretary, TANCET, Anna University, Chennai – 600 025, indicating the Registration No. / Application No. and the name of the Examination Centre.
TANCET 2018 Exam Pattern
The pattern of the exam is as mentioned below:
MBA / MCA – Candidates appearing for MBA/MCA programme have to attempt 100 questions of 1 mark each in 2 hours duration. The exam also has negative marking. For every wrong answer marked deduction of 1/3 mark will be done. Complete details can be understood from the table below:

How to Prepare for TANCET 2018?
Candidates appearing for TANCET 2018 must get themselves prepared for fast approaching examination. They must start taking mock tests and also note down their strong topics and weak ones. Once done with the syllabus completion, they can focus on their weak topics and start preparing for it.

Q. What if my hall ticket or mark sheet is lost?
A. Candidates are required to produce Hall Ticket at the time of exam and also during admission. If the applicant loses TANCET 2018 hall ticket, he/ she can request a duplicate copy in written against a small payment in the form of DD along with Registration Number/ Application Number and Examination Centre Name at the back of DD. Applicants who have lost their Mark Sheet which is also required at the time of admission can place a request for duplicate mark sheet in writing accompanied by DD with the small amount.
