TANCET 2018 is a state level test conducted for the admission in PG programme, in the colleges of Tamil Nadu. The courses offered under Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test are MBA, MCA, M.E, M.Tech, M.Plan, and M.Arch. It is conducted by Anna University, in the month of March 2018. The application form for TANCET will be available from the 4th week of January 2018, on the official website. The GATE qualified candidates are exempted from TANCET 2018, however, the aspirant of GATE XE and XL paper need to appear for the exam. TANCET 2018

On the basis of marks secured by the candidates in the exam, they will be invited for final counseling round. The counseling of TANCET is called as TANCA and is also conducted by the Anna University. Last year, the exam was held on March 25 and 26, 2017. The official dates for TANCET 2018 will be announced soon and we will update it in the table below:

Note – Other state candidates can also appear for TANCET 2018, but according to the eligibility norms of the university.

TANCET 2018 Application Form

Applicants can apply for the test using online mode only.The application process for all the programmes will be same. It is expected that candidates will read all the instructions before applying for the exam. Candidates can access application form directly from the website and they need to provide all the mandatory details in the form while applying along with a photo of maximum size 25kb in jpg/jpeg format only.

Application Fee: Candidates appearing for TANCET 2018 have to pay fees as stated below;

Candidates who wish to apply for more than 1 programme are required to pay INR 500/ INR 250 for each additional programme according to their category.

Eligibility Criteria for TANCET 2018

University has set some eligibility criteria for the candidates who wish to apply for the test. Candidates can read below the criteria according to the programme they are applying for:

Eligibility Criteria for MBA

  • Candidates who are applying for MBA must have bachelors’ degree with aggregate 50% marks.
  • The study pattern for eligible candidates could be 10+2+3 years of degree or it can even be 10+ 3 years of diploma or
  • Candidate must have done B.Tech/ B.Arch/ B.E/ B/Pharm
  • Candidate whose study pattern is 10+2+ AMIE/ 10+3 years Diploma + AMIE is also eligible for MBA

Eligibility Criteria for MCA Lateral Entry

  • Candidate must have a degree in BCA, B.Sc (Computer Science/ IT) with aggregate of 50% in qualifying exam and mathematics in 10+2 or graduate level
  • Study pattern of applying candidate could be like 10+2+3 years of degree

Eligibility Criteria for M.E/ M.Tech/ M.Arch/ M.Plan

  • Candidate must have Bachelor’s Degree with aggregate of 50% marks in qualifying exam
  • Candidate must have done B.E/ B.Tech/ B.Arch Or B.Pharm Or
  • Study pattern of candidate should be 10+2+ AMIE Or 10+2+ 3 years Diploma + AMIE

Category of Candidates applying for M.E./M.Tech./ M.Arch. / M.Plan programmes

Applicants who have applied for TANCET 2018 for full time will be grouped as given below:

TANCET Category: Candidates should appear for TANCET 2018 if they wish to be considered under TANCET category.

  • GATE Category: Candidates who have valid GATE 2016, GATE 2017, GATE 2018 scores for the assistantship in Engineering or Technology are considered under this category. Also, candidates who have valid GATE score of above mentioned years for assistantship in Engineering Science and Life Science are required to appear for TANCET 2018 exam.
  • Sponsored Category: Conducting body only fixed limited seats under this category for the candidates who are sponsored by Government organizations, registered professional architects with minimum 5 years experience and wish to apply for TANCET 2018.

TANCET 2018 Hall Ticket

Hall Ticket will be issued only to those candidates who have successfully filled the Application Form and Paid the Application Fee. TANCET 2018 Hall Ticket will be issued in the month of March 2018 and applicants will be able to download it from Anna University site.

Candidate needs to enter User ID and Password which was generated at the time of form filling to download admit card. Candidate must keep the admit card safe as it is key to enter the examination hall. In case a candidate is unable to present hall ticket during the time of examination he/she will not be able to attend the exam. Candidate can acquire duplicate hall ticket in case original is lost by paying a small fee.

Note – In case the hall ticket is lost by the candidate, a duplicate hall ticket might be available to be obtained on payment of fees.

TANCET 2018 Exam Pattern

The pattern of the exam is as mentioned below:

MBA / MCA – Candidates appearing for MBA/MCA programme have to attempt 100 questions of 1 mark each in 2 hours duration. The exam also has negative marking. For every wrong answer marked deduction of 1/3 mark will be done. Complete details can be understood from the table below:

Part-I, Part-II, and Part-III with 20, 35 and 60 questions respectively. Paper will be of total 100 marks and time duration given to answer the questions is 2 hours.

How to Prepare for TANCET 2018?

Candidates appearing for TANCET 2018 must get themselves prepared for fast approaching examination. They must start taking mock tests and also note down their strong topics and weak ones. Once done with the syllabus completion, they can focus on their weak topics and start preparing for it.

Approaching the lecturers and teaching faculty to clear the doubts will land the candidate in the advantageous position. TANCET 2018 Result

Board is going to announce the result of TANCET 2018 in the month of April after the exam has been conducted. Students who appeared for the exam will be able to download the result from official website of Anna University.

How is Normalisation of Marks done?

TANCET 2018 Question Paper for M.Tech/ M.E/ M.Arch/ M.Plan have 2 common sections namely Part-I which is Engineering Mathematics, Part-II Basic Engg. and Sciences. Part- III is different for various programmes. On calculation, standard deviation (s) of raw marks (r) and the mean marks (m) may vary with every discipline for Part-III. In order to find out the relative ranking of applicants in any discipline general formula is used which is given below:

Normalised marks = 40+ (10/s) (r-m)

Applying for TANCA 2018

All the candidates who have qualified GATE 2018 and TANCET 2018 can apply for TANCA. It is the first step towards counseling process for the admission of M.Tech courses in Tamil Nadu Colleges. Basically, it is an entire admission process for the admission in the engineering colleges. Candidates who satisfy the eligibility criteria of TANCA 2018 will be able to apply for it. Eligibility criteria for GATE and TANCET applicants are different. Applicant needs to check his/ her eligibility before applying for the admission process.

Q. What if my hall ticket or mark sheet is lost?
A. Candidates are required to produce Hall Ticket at the time of exam and also during admission. If the applicant loses TANCET 2018 hall ticket, he/ she can request a duplicate copy in written against a small payment in the form of DD along with Registration Number/ Application Number and Examination Centre Name at the back of DD. Applicants who have lost their Mark Sheet which is also required at the time of admission can place a request for duplicate mark sheet in writing accompanied by DD with the small amount.
