Who can apply for BVP CET 2027?
Eligibility depends on the programme; the rules below are from the 2026 information brochures, and the 2027 brochures may change them.
- B.Tech: Class 12 or equivalent with Physics and Mathematics, plus one of Chemistry, Biotechnology, Biology, Computer Science, Electronics, IT, a technical vocational subject or another listed subject, with at least 45% marks (40% for SC/ST and PwD). Diploma holders with 45% (40% for SC/ST) can also apply.
- BBA, BCA and B.Com: Class 12 or equivalent from a statutory board in India. Students appearing in Class 12 can apply.
- MBA and MCA (BMAT): a bachelor’s degree of at least 3 years with 50% marks (45% for SC/ST). Final-year students can apply.
- Candidates must be Indian nationals for the regular merit seats. 15% of seats are kept for Foreign, NRI, PIO, OCI and Institutional Quota merit candidates, who apply on a separate form.
What is the BVP CET 2027 exam pattern?
The main BVP CET tests are computer-based tests of 200 multiple-choice questions, one mark each, taken at a test centre in the city you chose. The 2026 pattern is shown below.
| Test | Questions and marks | Duration | Sections |
|---|---|---|---|
| BV-BTECH (B.Tech) | 200 MCQs, 200 marks | 3 hours | Mathematics 80, Physics 60, Chemistry 60 |
| BUMAT (BBA/BCA) | 200 MCQs, 200 marks | 150 minutes | Numerical Aptitude 60, Reasoning 60, Verbal Ability 60, Reading Comprehension 20 |
| BMAT (MBA/MCA) | 200 MCQs, 200 marks | 180 minutes | As in the BMAT brochure |
- There is no negative marking, so an unanswered question and a wrong answer both score zero.
- The question paper is in English.
- Each question has four options with one correct answer.
- The university provides a mock test on its website for candidates who have received an admit card.
Programme-wise syllabus PDFs are on the university’s CET syllabus page. For B.Tech the test follows the Class 12 Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics syllabus.
How are BVP CET merit lists and counselling done?
Each test has its own merit list based on marks out of 200, with a separate list for the Foreign, NRI, PIO, OCI and Institutional Quota category. You see your merit number by logging in to the CET portal; there is no individual call letter for everyone. Read more on the BVP CET result page.
For B.Tech, ties are broken by higher Mathematics marks in the test, then Class 12 percentage, then Class 10 Mathematics percentage. In 2026, candidates with B.Tech merit numbers 1 to 3,000 were invited to counselling by email, and others could attend after the vacancy position was announced.
