Directorate of Teacher Education and SCERT, Odisha, the exam conducting authority conducts the entrance exam for admission into various courses like B.Ed, D.El.Ed courses. Interested candidates can apply for the desired course by filling the online application form from the official website of SCERT Odisha. The admission to the desired course will be granted only if the candidate qualifies the entrance exam and make through the merit list. To apply for SCERT Odisha 2018, aspirants need to register online before proceeding to fill in other required detail in the online application.

To appear for the entrance test, the candidate should download their admit card and bring a hard copy of the admit card at the examination center. The result for the various programs will be published online. A merit list will be prepared on the basis of marks obtained by the candidate in the entrance exam. The expected schedule for admission to B.Ed, M.Ed, D.El.Ed for the academic year 2018 is provided in the table below:

Application Form

  • The application form will be available at scertodishaadmission.in or scertodish.nic.in.
  • Register online by entering the basic information. On completing the registration process candidates will receive a system generated Application Form Number.
  • Fill in the required details in the online application form
  • Make payment for the application fee through Debit Card / Credit Card / Net Banking / Bank Deposit in Axis Bank.

Eligibility Criteria

For B.Ed

  • The aspirant must be a graduate in Arts / Science stream. The aspirant should have obtained at least 50% marks (45% in case of SC, ST, SEBC and PH) in aggregate in the Bachelor’s Degree or in the Master’s Degree in concerned Science / Social Science / Humanity subject.
  • Should have passed Graduation with at least two school subjects of minimum 200 marks each.
    Or
  • Should possess a Bachelor Degree in Engineering or Technology (B.Tech) with specialization in Science and Mathematics (as per AICTE syllabus) with 55% marks (50% in case of SC, ST, SEBC and PH) in aggregate.

The Science graduate candidates should have passed with two school subjects (with not less than 200 marks each) out of Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Botany, Zoology, Computer Science and Geography.

For Arts Graduate Degree:

  • Must have studied two school subjects from the following: English / Odia / Hindi / Sanskrit, History, Geography, Economics, Indian Economy, Political Science, Landmarks in Indian History, Indian Geography, Indian Polity, Mathematics

For D.El.Ed

  • For admission to D.El.Ed program the candidate must have passed 10+2 examination in Arts / Science / Commerce or its equivalent examination from recognized Boards / Councils with a minimum of 50% of marks in aggregate (45% of mark in case of SC, ST, SEBC and PH candidates).
  • The applicant must have passed Odia as MIL up to HSC level or any such equivalent or higher examination (+2) or have passed Odia in single subject Examination conducted by BSE, Odisha of HSC standard or should have passed HSC Examination of BSE, Odisha in Odia medium with MIL other than Odia.
  • The candidates seeking admission in Government ETEI, Urdu, Cuttack must have passed Urdu as MIL up to HSC standard/equivalent examination
  • The candidates seeking admission in Government ETEI, Telugu must have passed Telugu as MIL up to HSC standard/equivalent examination
  • The candidates who are appearing in the last qualifying examination i.e. Higher Secondary and its equivalent are also eligible to apply

For M.Ed

  • Must possess a Bachelor Degree in Education (B.Ed., BA B.Ed., B.Sc. B.Ed.) from any recognized University with minimum 55% marks in aggregate (50% in case of SC, ST, SEBC and PH).

Requirement Qualification in B.Ed, M.Ed, D.El.Ed Admission

Must have passed Odia as MIL up to HSC level or any such equivalent or higher examination. Candidates who have passed HSC Examination of BSE, Odisha without Odia as MIL should produce a certificate to the effect from the Headmaster of the concerned school that the candidate has passed HSC Examination in Odia medium.

Age Limit

The maximum age limit as prescribed for various categories is given in the table below:

Exam Pattern

For B.ED

  • Duration of the Test: 02 hours and 30 minutes
  • Type of Questions: MCQ
  • Negative Marking: For every incorrect answer 0.25 marks will be deducted. Also, more than one response to a question shall be considered incorrect and negative mark will be awarded.
    The test will be conducted in two papers. It is compulsory to appear in both the papers

Selection Process

  • The selection of the candidates for admission to B.Ed, M.Ed, D.El.Ed courses will be on the basis of marks obtained in the respective examination.
