Directorate of Teacher Education and SCERT, Odisha, the exam conducting authority conducts the entrance exam for admission into various courses like B.Ed, M.Ed, D.El.Ed, B.H.Ed, B.P.Ed, M.Phil courses. Interested candidates can apply for the desired course by filling the online application form from the official website of SCERT Odisha. The admission to the desired course will be granted only if the candidate qualifies the entrance exam and make through the merit list. To apply for SCERT Odisha 2018, aspirants need to register online before proceeding to fill in other required detail in the online application.

To appear for the entrance test, the candidate should download their admit card and bring a hard copy of the admit card at the examination center. The result for the various programs will be published online. A merit list will be prepared on the basis of marks obtained by the candidate in the entrance exam. The schedule for admission to B.Ed, M.Ed, D.El.Ed for the academic year 2018 is provided in the table below:

Application Form

The application form is available at official website. Candidates have to register themselves online by entering the basic information. On completing the registration process candidates will receive a system generated OTP. Fill in the required details in the online application form. Make payment for the application fee through available modes that include Debit Card / Credit Card / Net Banking / Cash Deposit in Axis Bank.

Eligibility Criteria

For B.Ed

  • General candidates having 50% marks and reserved category i.e. SC, ST, SEBC, PH having 45% marks, in aggregate, either in Bachelor’s Degree and or in the Master’s Degree are eligible to apply.
  • Untrained in-service teachers who are appointed prior to implementation of NCTE revised regulation, 2014 are eligible to apply without the restriction of eligibility percentage of marks. Preference of Selection to in-service teachers will be given in the following orders: Government Schools, Government aided schools, Block grant schools getting 100 % grant, schools getting partial block grant, other recognized schools.
  • Untrained inservice teachers except PET and Classical Teacher validly appointed on regular basis against the sanctioned yardstick TGT posts in Government / Government Aided / Recognized High Schools and continuing as such are eligible to apply.
  • Teachers validly appointed on regular basis against the sanctioned posts in Government / Government Aided / Recognized Elementary Schools having Graduate qualification and continuing as such are eligible to apply.
  • The untrained qualified teachers who have been appointed by the competent authority as per rule and having NCTE prescribed percentage of marks in their last qualifying examinations (50% / 45% for un reserved / reserved category candidates) are eligible to be enrolled for professional training.

For D.Ed

  • Candidates seeking admission to the M.Ed. Programme should have obtained at least 50% marks for General category and 45% for SC/ST/SEBC/PH category in following programmes :
  1. B.Ed.
  2. B.A., B.Ed. / B.Sc.,B.Ed.
  3. Arts / Science Graduate with D.El.Ed. Degree (with 50% marks in each for General category and 45% in case of SC/ST/SEBC/PH category).
  • The candidates who have passed the qualifications from any universities outside Odisha are required to produce the NCTE recognition and Equivalency Certificate during the time of Counselling and Admission.
  • She / he must have passed Odia as MIL up to HSC level or any such equivalent or higher examination or have passed Odia as a subject in specific examination conducted by BSE, Odisha of HSC standard or should have passed HSC Examination of BSE, Odisha in Odia medium with MIL other than Odia.

For D.El.Ed

  • The candidate must have passed 12th in Arts / Science / Commerce with a minimum of 50% of marks in aggregate (45% of mark in aggregate in case of SC, ST, SEBC and PH candidates) excluding marks secured in extra optional.
  • She / he must have passed Odia as MIL up to HSC level or any such equivalent or higher examination (+2) or have passed Odia in single subject Examination conducted by BSE, Odisha of HSC standard or should have passed HSC Examination of BSE, Odisha in Odia medium with MIL other than Odia.

For B.H.Ed

  • The applicants must have passed
  1. B.A. / B.Sc. / B.Com Examination having Hindi as an elective / pass / Honours subject with 50% marks (45% for SC, ST, SEBC and PH candidates) in aggregate.
    OR
  2. Candidates passing B.A. / B.Sc. / B.Com Examination without Hindi as an elective / pass / Honours subject with the aforesaid percentage of marks in aggregate must have passed Rastra Bhasa Ratna from Rastra Bhasa Prachar Samiti, Wardha / Shastri from Odisha Rastra Bhasa Parishad, Puri / Snatak (up to June, 2005 the date up to which temporary recognition has been granted) to be considered eligible to apply for the course
  • She / he must have offered Odia as MIL up to HSC level or any such equivalent or higher examination or have passed Odia as a subject in single subject examination conducted by BSE, Odisha of HSC standard or should have passed HSC examination of BSE, Odisha in Odia medium with MIL other than Odia.

For B.P.Ed

  • Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline with 50% marks and having at least participation in the Inter College / Inter Zonal / District / School Competition in Sports and Games as recognized by the AIU / IOA / SGFI / Government of India
    Or
  • Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education with 45% marks
    Or
  • Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline with 45% marks and studied Physical Education as Compulsory / Elective subject
    Or
  • Bachelor’s degree with 45% marks and having participated in National / Inter-University / State Competitions or secured 1st , 2 nd or 3rd position in Inter College / Inter Zonal / District / School Competition in Sports and Games as recognized by the AIU / IOA / SGFI / Government of India
    Or
  • Bachelor’s degree with participation in international competitions or secured 1st, 2nd or 3rd position in National / Inter-University Competition in Sports and Games as recognized by respective federations / AIU / IOA / SGFI / Government of India
    Or
  • Graduation with 45% marks and at least three years of teaching experience (for deputed inservice candidates i.e. trained Physical Education Teachers / Coaches)

Age Limit

There is no age limit for B.Ed, M.Ed, M.Phil.

Age limit is aplicable for D.El.Ed., B.H.Ed., B.P.Ed., , as follows. The maximum age limit as prescribed for various categories is given in the table below:

Exam Pattern

For B.ED

  • Duration of the Test: 1 hour and 30 minutes
  • Type of Questions: MCQ
  • Negative Marking: For every incorrect answer 0.25 marks will be deducted. Also, more than one response to a question shall be considered incorrect and negative mark will be awarded.

The test shall be conducted in two papers. Both the papers are compulsory. The subjects and distribution of marks in each paper are given in the following table.
