HPU has not announced the 2027 schedule yet, so the 2027 dates below are expected months based on 2026, when applications ran from 30 April to 30 May 2026 and the tentative merit list came out on 25 June 2026.

How to Apply for HPU B.Tech Entrance Exam 2027
You apply online only, through the link in the UIT admission notice on hpuniv.ac.in. The 2027 form is expected around April 2027. The steps below follow the latest published prospectus (2022); the 2027 notice may change details such as the fee.
Apply Online for HPU B.Tech 2027
Applications for HPU B.Tech 2027 are expected in April 2027.
- Open hpuniv.ac.in and read the UIT B.Tech admission notice and prospectus for the year.
- Register on the HPU online admission portal and note your registration ID and password. You need them later to download the admit card.
- Fill in your name as in the matriculation certificate, date of birth, category, 10+2 board and the state where your school is.
- Choose your exam centre preference and add special claims, such as single girl child, ward of an HPU employee or J&K domicile.
- Upload your scanned signature and any other item the form asks for, pay the application fee and submit the form before the last date.
- Keep a printout of the submitted form.

Who can apply for HPU B.Tech Entrance Exam 2027?
You can apply if you have passed 10+2 with Physics, Mathematics and one more elective subject with at least 50% marks (45% for SC/ST). These rules are from the latest published prospectus.
- Qualification: 10+2 or equivalent from a recognised board, with Physics, Mathematics and any one other elective subject.
- Marks: 50% in these subjects, or 45% for SC and ST candidates.
- Age: not more than 22 years on 1 July of the year of admission.
- Lateral entry to the second year needs a 3-year diploma with 45% (40% reserved) or a B.Sc with Mathematics and Physics with 60%. Lateral entry has its own joint merit list of eligible candidates.
- Foreign students are admitted under HPU’s own rules for foreign nationals.
Which B.Tech branches and seats are offered at UIT HPU?
UIT offered six B.Tech branches in 2026, each with 75 seats plus 19 over-and-above seats, a total of 564 first-year seats.

Under the prospectus rules, 60% of seats go to candidates who passed 10+2 from schools in Himachal Pradesh and 40% are open to all, with separate Himachali and All India merit lists. SC, ST and physically challenged candidates get 15%, 7.5% and 5% of seats.
What is the HPU B.Tech Entrance Exam 2027 pattern?
The latest published pattern is one paper of 100 multiple choice questions for 200 marks in 3 hours, covering Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. HPU has not yet confirmed the 2027 pattern.

- Each question carries 2 marks.
- Half a mark (a quarter of the marks) is deducted for each wrong answer. Unattempted questions get no marks.
- The result shows your marks in each subject and your total.
- Ties are broken by higher Mathematics marks, then Physics marks, then the younger candidate.

How are UIT B.Tech seats allotted after the test?
Seats are allotted from a combined merit list of the entrance test, by rank and the branch preference you give in counselling. In 2026 the steps were:
- HPU published the tentative merit list on 25 June 2026.
- Counselling ran online over Google Meet from 2 July, and candidates sent the online counselling form by 6 July 2026.
- The first eligible list came on 11 July 2026, and selected candidates paid the fee within two days.
- Further merit lists followed, and an open round for vacant seats was held from 1 to 3 August 2026.
