The IGNOU B.Ed 2027 syllabus has two parts. Part A is common to all and covers English comprehension, reasoning, educational and general awareness, and teaching-learning. In Part B you pick one subject: Science, Mathematics, Social Science, English or Hindi. The 100-question test for the January 2027 batch is expected in March 2027.

What are the sections in the IGNOU B.Ed 2027 syllabus?
There are five sections with 100 questions in all, as printed on the cover of the IGNOU B.Ed. test booklet (2017 and 2025 booklets).

What topics come in each section?
IGNOU does not print a topic list in the B.Ed. prospectus. The topics below are the kinds of questions seen in recent IGNOU B.Ed. papers.
- General English Comprehension: a reading passage followed by 10 questions on it.
- Logical and Analytical Reasoning: number and letter analogies, number and letter series, coding, and direction sense.
- Educational and General Awareness: general science and geography, Indian education policies and commissions (NPE 1986, NEP 2020) and facts about education in India.
- Teaching-Learning and the School: NEP 2020 school structure (5+3+3+4), continuous and comprehensive evaluation, learning objectives and domains, and teaching methods.
- Part B Science, Mathematics and Social Science: subject questions in your chosen discipline.
- Part B English: synonyms, antonyms, spelling, fill in the blanks and questions on English literature. Part B Hindi is set in Hindi.
How is the IGNOU B.Ed 2027 paper marked?
Every question carries one mark, so the maximum is 100: 80 from Part A and 20 from your Part B subject.
- Each question has four options numbered 1 to 4; you darken one circle on the OMR sheet with a blue or black ball pen.
- No credit is given if you mark more than one answer for a question.
- Part B questions are numbered by subject: Science 81 to 100, Mathematics 101 to 120, Social Science 121 to 140, English 141 to 160 and Hindi 161 to 180.
How should you prepare for IGNOU B.Ed 2027?
Start with Part A, because it carries 80 of the 100 marks and is the same for everyone.
- Read one English passage a day and answer questions on it in a fixed time.
- Practise analogies, series, coding and direction problems for the reasoning section.
- Revise NEP 2020, older education policies and commissions, and basic general science and geography.
- For Teaching-Learning, revise child development, evaluation, learning objectives and teaching methods from your teacher-training course.
- Pick your Part B subject early and revise it from your degree notes.

IGNOU puts the B.Ed. prospectus and admission announcement on the admission portal. The January 2027 prospectus is not out yet, so the latest files are from the January 2026 session.
