LSAT India 2026

Is LSAT India being conducted in 2026? No. LSAC has officially discontinued the Law School Admission Test – India. The council took the business decision to stop conducting LSAT India, stating that the exam did not meet certain business objectives. Consequently, from the 2025 admission cycle onwards, there are no individual LSAT India tests, and LSAC currently has no plan to introduce any replacement law entrance exam in India. So while older notes and some websites still describe LSAT India as an active exam held in January and May/June windows, that information is now outdated.

Why has LSAT India been discontinued?

LSAC stated that it discontinued LSAT India as a business decision, citing that the exam was not achieving the specific business objectives the council had set for it in India. Because of this, LSAC decided not to conduct the test going forward. The council has clarified that, as of now, it does not have any proposal or plan to launch a new law admission test in India to replace LSAT India.

What should past LSAT India candidates do?

Candidates who appeared in the last LSAT India cycle (LSAT India 2024) should note the following.

  • Save your scorecard: If you took LSAT India 2024, download and keep a copy of your scorecard. It can still be used for admission at colleges that accepted LSAT India scores, and it may not be available to download later.
  • Contact colleges directly: Institutions that earlier accepted LSAT India scores – such as O.P. Jindal Global University, Alliance University (Bengaluru), and UPES Dehradun – now admit students through their own admission processes. Reach out to their admission offices for the current procedure.
  • Plan for alternatives: If you are aiming for law admission in 2026, prepare for other active law entrance exams instead of waiting for LSAT India.

LSAT India Alternatives – Active Law Entrance Exams

Since LSAT India is no longer held, candidates targeting 5-year integrated LLB, 3-year LLB, and LLM programmes can consider these active law entrance exams. Many universities that once accepted LSAT India scores now use their own tests or national exams.

  • CLAT – the Common Law Admission Test conducted by the Consortium of NLUs for admission to National Law Universities.
  • AILET – the All India Law Entrance Test for admission to National Law University, Delhi.
  • ULSAT – the UPES Legal Studies Aptitude Test for law admission at UPES, Dehradun, one of the universities that earlier accepted LSAT India.
  • SLAT, MH CET Law, AP LAWCET / TS LAWCET, DU LLB and CUET (UG) – other university and state-level law entrance tests worth exploring for the 2026 admission cycle.
