Is the NEF Law Entrance Test 2027 being held?
No. NEF Law College has not held NLET since the 2025-26 session, and no NLET is planned for 2027. Under Government of Assam notification eCF No. 793666/4 dated 23 April 2026, all admissions to the 5-year integrated and 3-year law programmes are based on the Common Admission Test (CAT) conducted by Gauhati University.
For 2026-27, Gauhati University held CAT-2026 for 5-year integrated law on 13 June 2026 and for the 3-year LL.B. on 25 July 2026. NEF Law College then admitted students on merit after they also registered with the college. No 2027-28 notice is out yet, so the same CAT route is expected unless the state changes the rule.
The same CAT covers law colleges affiliated to universities in Assam, except Dibrugarh University, so one test now serves NEF Law College and most other law colleges in the state.

How to Get Admission to NEF Law College in 2027
You need a Gauhati University CAT score and a registration with NEF Law College. In 2026 the CAT forms were filled online on Gauhati University’s Samarth portals, and the college ran its own online and offline registration alongside.
Apply Online for NLET 2027
Applications for NLET 2027 are expected in May 2027.
- Watch the Gauhati University law admission page and nefcollege.org for the CAT 2027 notice, expected around May 2027.
- Register for CAT on the Samarth portal: the 5-year law CAT portal for BA, BBA or B.Com LL.B., or the 3-year LL.B. CAT portal for the LL.B. (links used in 2026).
- Fill in the form, upload your documents and pay the CAT fee online before the last date.
- Download the CAT admit card and appear in the test on the date given.
- Register with NEF Law College through its online admission portal or offline at the college, and pay the form and prospectus fee.
- Check the merit lists on nefcollege.org and report with your documents and fee if your name appears.

Who can apply for NEF Law College admission in 2027?
For the 5-year integrated law courses, you must have passed Class 12 (10+2) or an equivalent exam from a recognised board with the minimum marks set for GU CAT 2026:

For the 3-year LL.B., you need a bachelor’s degree; check the minimum percentage in the CAT notice for your year. The college’s LL.M. needs an LL.B. or 5-year law degree, and the CAT notice does not cover LL.M. admission, so ask the college about that route.

What documents do you need for NEF Law College admission?
NEF Law College asks for these documents with the application form:
- Birth certificate, or HSLC or equivalent certificate as proof of age
- HSLC and HS (or equivalent) marksheets and pass certificates
- Degree marksheet and pass certificate (for the 3-year LL.B.)
- LL.B. or 5-year law marksheets and pass certificates (for LL.M.)
- Transfer certificate from the last institution
- Caste or tribe certificate from a competent authority, if you claim a reserved category
- Migration certificate, where needed (it can be given after admission)
Where is the NEF Law Entrance Test result now?
There is no NLET result after 2025. The last one, the NLET 2025 merit list for the 5-year BA LL.B. (Hons) for 2025-26, was a PDF listing rank and roll number, without marks. For 2026-27 and later, NEF Law College publishes course-wise merit lists on nefcollege.org based on CAT, and Gauhati University publishes the CAT results on its admission portal.
