Who can apply for TG LAWCET 2027?

You can apply if you are an Indian national who meets Telangana’s local or unreserved status rules and has the qualifying marks for your course. These rules are from the 2026 notification and may be revised for 2027.

  • 3-year LL.B.: any graduate degree (10+2+3 pattern) with 45% aggregate, 42% for OBC and 40% for SC and ST. A PG degree or B.Ed with the same percentage also counts if your degree marks are lower.
  • 5-year LL.B.: two-year Intermediate (10+2) or equivalent with 45%, 42% for OBC and 40% for SC and ST. A polytechnic diploma counts as Intermediate.
  • Marks are rounded: 44.5%, 41.5% and 39.5% are treated as 45%, 42% and 40%.
  • Final-year students can apply, but must have passed by counselling.
  • Degrees taken in one sitting without a three-year course, or through an open university without a basic qualification, are not accepted.
  • There is no upper age limit, as per the Bar Council of India.

What is the TG LAWCET 2027 exam pattern?

TG LAWCET is a 90-minute computer-based test of 120 multiple-choice questions for 120 marks, with one mark per question and no negative marking. The paper is in English with Telugu, or English with Urdu.

PartSubjectQuestions and marks
Part AGeneral Knowledge and Mental Ability30
Part BCurrent Affairs30
Part CAptitude for the Study of Law (10 questions on legal passages)60
Total120

The 5-year LL.B. paper is set at Intermediate level and the 3-year paper at degree level. The 3-year test runs in two sessions, so marks are normalised. You need 35% (42 out of 120) to qualify; SC and ST candidates have no minimum. See the TG LAWCET syllabus for what each part covers.

Which seats can you get through TG LAWCET?

TG LAWCET ranks fill convener quota seats in LL.B. courses of state universities and their affiliated law colleges in Telangana, through counselling run separately by TGCHE.

  • 85% of seats in each course are reserved for local candidates of the Osmania University area; the other 15% are unreserved.
  • If you studied up to Intermediate (5-year course) or degree (3-year course) outside Telangana, you are not eligible for convener quota seats, but you can seek National Integration Quota or management quota seats.
  • Your rank is valid only for admissions in that academic year.
