NLU Delhi publishes the AIET syllabus and test pattern with the detailed admission notification, which for AIET 2027 is due in January 2027. The test itself is on 2 May 2027 and lasts two hours. Until the official syllabus is out, prepare from the core subjects of the programme you plan to join.

Is the AIET 2027 syllabus out?
Not yet. NLU Delhi said on 7 August 2026 that the detailed AIET 2027 notification will be issued in January 2027, and the syllabus and pattern are released with it on the admission portal.

What should you study for the AIET 2027 IP Law programme?
For the Joint Masters/LL.M. in IP Law and Management, revise the main IP rights and the laws and treaties behind them, along with English comprehension.
- Patents: the Patents Act, 1970, patentability, infringement and compulsory licensing.
- Trade marks: the Trade Marks Act, 1999, registration, well-known marks, infringement and passing off.
- Copyright: the Copyright Act, 1957, authorship, ownership, fair dealing and remedies.
- Designs, geographical indications, plant varieties and semiconductor layout designs.
- International framework: WIPO, the TRIPS Agreement, and the Paris and Berne Conventions.
- IP management: licensing, valuation and commercialisation of IP, and recent IP news in India.
- English: reading comprehension, vocabulary and grammar.
Law graduates (LL.M. track) should expect deeper legal questions; non-law graduates (M.A. track) should focus on concepts and applied IP.
What should you study for PGIP and the insolvency degrees?
For PGIP and the one-year M.A./LL.M. in Insolvency Law and Restructuring, build a base in insolvency law, finance and reasoning.
- The Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, 2016, and the role of the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Board of India (IBBI).
- Basic company law, contracts and corporate finance.
- Reading financial statements and basic accounting.
- Legal or logical reasoning and English comprehension.
How should you prepare for AIET 2027?
- Read the official notification as soon as it is out in January 2027 and match your plan to its sections.
- Revise the bare Acts for your programme rather than only guides.
- Practise reading comprehension daily; long passages are common in law entrance tests.
- Follow IP and insolvency news from the past year.
- Take timed practice tests of two hours to build speed.
Standard texts students use include V.K. Ahuja’s Law Relating to Intellectual Property Rights and P. Narayanan’s Intellectual Property Law for IP, and Wren and Martin for English grammar. Use the latest editions.
