AP PGLCET 2026 Syllabus

The AP PGLCET 2026 Syllabus tests candidates’ understanding of core law subjects covered in the 3-year and 5-year LLB programmes. The AP PGLCET 2026 Syllabus splits 120 MCQs equally across two parts: Part A covers Jurisprudence and Constitutional Law (60 questions / 60 marks); Part B covers Public International Law, Mercantile Law, Labour Law, Crimes & Torts, and Intellectual Property Rights (60 questions / 60 marks). AP PGLCET 2026 Syllabus – Part A (Jurisprudence and Constitutional Law)

Part A of the AP PGLCET 2026 Syllabus covers two major subjects with 60 questions:

  • Jurisprudence: Schools of jurisprudence (Analytical / Historical / Sociological / Realist), Nature and definition of law, Sources of law, Legal rights and duties, Legal personality, Ownership and possession, Liability and responsibility, Concept of justice, Theories of punishment.
  • Constitutional Law of India: Constitution-making and preamble, Fundamental rights and duties, Directive Principles of State Policy, Union and State executive (President, Prime Minister, Governor, CM), Parliament and State Legislatures, Judiciary (Supreme Court, High Courts), Centre-State relations, Emergency provisions, Amendment of Constitution (Article 368), Writs and judicial review, Special provisions for SC/ST/OBC/Women.

AP PGLCET 2026 Syllabus – Part B (Other Law Subjects)

Part B of the AP PGLCET 2026 Syllabus covers five subjects with 60 questions distributed across:

  • Public International Law: Nature and sources of international law, Subjects of international law, Recognition of states and governments, State responsibility, Diplomatic and consular relations, Law of treaties, Law of the sea, UN Charter and organs, Pacific settlement of disputes, International humanitarian law.
  • Mercantile Law: Indian Contract Act 1872 (formation, performance, breach, remedies), Sale of Goods Act 1930, Indian Partnership Act 1932, Negotiable Instruments Act 1881, Consumer Protection Act, Company Law fundamentals.
  • Labour Law: Industrial Disputes Act 1947, Factories Act 1948, Workmen’s Compensation / Employees’ Compensation Act, Employees’ State Insurance Act, Trade Unions Act 1926, Minimum Wages Act, Payment of Wages Act, Industrial Employment (Standing Orders) Act, Labour Codes (Code on Wages, Industrial Relations Code, Social Security Code, OSH Code).
  • Crimes and Torts: Indian Penal Code 1860 (general principles, offences against state, public tranquility, human body, property, marriage), Code of Criminal Procedure 1973, Indian Evidence Act 1872. Law of Torts (general principles, vicarious liability, negligence, strict and absolute liability, nuisance, defamation, malicious prosecution, remedies).
  • Intellectual Property Rights (IPR): Patents Act 1970, Copyright Act 1957, Trade Marks Act 1999, Designs Act 2000, Geographical Indications of Goods Act 1999, Information Technology Act 2000, TRIPS agreement.

Preparation Strategy for AP PGLCET 2026 Syllabus
