The AP DEECET 2026 syllabus (also referred to as the DIETCET syllabus) is divided into Part A (common subjects, 60 marks) and Part B (one optional subject, 40 marks). Since the AP DEECET 2026 exam is scheduled on 1 July 2026 in online CBT mode, knowing the syllabus helps candidates prepare each section systematically. What does the AP DEECET 2026 syllabus cover?

The syllabus has two parts. Basically, Part A is based on the Class 6-10 AP State Board syllabus, while Part B is at the AP Intermediate level for the chosen optional subject. Therefore, candidates should revise the school-level basics and strengthen their optional subject together.

The 100 marks are distributed across Part A and Part B as shown below, so candidates can prioritise high-weightage areas.

Part A – Common (60 Marks)

  • General Knowledge & Teaching Aptitude (10): current affairs, general awareness, aptitude for teaching
  • Pedagogy / Teaching Methodology (5): learning principles, child development, methods
  • General English (5): grammar, vocabulary, comprehension
  • Regional Language (20): Telugu / Urdu / Tamil / Kannada / Oriya grammar and comprehension
  • Mathematics (10): Class 6-10 arithmetic, algebra, geometry
  • General Science (10): Class 6-10 physics, chemistry, biology

Part B – Optional (40 Marks)

Candidates choose one subject at the time of application, at the AP Intermediate level:

  • Mathematics
  • Physical Science
  • Biological Science
  • Social Studies

  • Mode: Online CBT
  • Duration: 2 hours
  • Total Questions: 100 MCQs
  • Total Marks: 100 (Part A 60 + Part B 40)
  • Marking: +1 for correct; no negative marking

Preparation Tips and Books

  • Revise AP State Board Class 6-10 textbooks for Part A; they cover Maths, General Science, and the regional language.
  • Use AP Intermediate (Class 11-12) textbooks for the chosen Part B optional subject.
  • Prioritise the Regional Language (20 marks) and Optional subject (40 marks), since together they carry 60% of the paper.
  • Practise teaching aptitude and pedagogy from a standard D.El.Ed / DSC reference book.
  • Solve AP DEECET previous year question papers in 2-hour timed CBT mode to build speed and accuracy.

AP DEECET (formerly DIETCET) is the Andhra Pradesh Diploma in Elementary Education Common Entrance Test, conducted for admission to the 2-year D.El.Ed course. After preparing from the syllabus, candidates download the AP DEECET hall ticket, and after the exam they check the answer key and result.
