Session 1 registration has not opened yet; it is expected in late October or November 2026, for an exam tentatively between 22 and 30 January 2027. When does JEE Main 2027 registration start?
NTA has not opened JEE Main 2027 registration yet: as of 13 October 2026 there is no 2027 bulletin or form on jeemain.nta.nic.in. NTA’s exam calendar puts Session 1 tentatively on 22 to 24 and 28 to 30 January 2027. In 2026 the Session 1 form ran from 31 October to 27 November 2025, so the 2027 form is expected in late October or November 2026. Dates marked expected in the table below are based on the 2026 schedule.

What documents do you need before JEE Main 2027 registration?
Keep these ready before you open the form. The list follows the latest (2026) information bulletin and NTA advisories; the 2027 bulletin may add to it.
- Aadhaar card updated with your correct name, date of birth (as in your Class 10 certificate), latest photograph, address and father’s name. NTA pulls your name, date of birth, gender, photo and address from UIDAI when you verify with Aadhaar.
- If you do not verify through Aadhaar or DigiLocker: another identity proof, scanned as JPG (10 to 200 KB).
- APAAR ID, if you have one (the 2026 form had an APAAR ID page).
- Class 10 or equivalent certificate or marksheet, scanned as PDF (50 to 300 KB).
- Class 12 details: board, school, year of passing or appearing, and roll number if you have it.
- A valid category certificate (EWS, SC, ST or OBC-NCL), if you claim a category.
- UDID card or disability certificate (PDF, 50 to 300 KB), if you are a PwD/PwBD candidate.
- A recent colour passport photo and your signature, scanned as JPG, plus a working webcam or phone for the live photo.
- Your own working mobile number and email ID, and a net banking, card or UPI account for the fee.
How to Register for JEE Main 2027: Step by Step
Registration is online only and has three steps: create your registration, fill the application form, then pay the fee. One application number covers both sessions, so you register only once for the year.
Apply Online for JEE Main 2027
Applications for JEE Main 2027 are expected in October 2026.
- Step 1, registration: open jeemain.nta.nic.in and click the Session 1 registration link once it is live. Read the instructions and enter your basic personal details.
- Create a password and choose a security question with its answer. The password must be 8 to 13 characters, with at least one capital letter, one small letter, one number and one special character (!@#$%^&*-).
- Submit to get your system-generated application number. Write it down with your password; you need both for every later login.
- Step 2, application form: log in with your application number and password. Verify your identity (Aadhaar e-KYC, DigiLocker or another ID), then fill the personal, parent and address details.
- Choose your paper (Paper 1 B.E./B.Tech, Paper 2A B.Arch, Paper 2B B.Planning, or a combination), the question paper medium and up to four exam cities.
- Fill your Class 10 and Class 12 details and the additional and emergency contact details.
- Capture your live photo with the webcam (or scan the QR code with a phone), then upload your photo, signature, Class 10 certificate and any other required certificate.
- Review the preview page carefully and submit. Step 3: pay the fee online, then download and print the confirmation page.
What are the JEE Main photo and signature size rules?
Every upload must be clear, legible and your own. These sizes are from the 2026 bulletin and are likely to stay the same for 2027:

NTA does not allow you to change your photo later. Uploading someone else’s photo, signature or certificate is treated as unfair means.
How much is the JEE Main 2027 application fee?
The fee is paid per session, online by net banking, debit card, credit card or UPI. The table shows the latest (2026) fee; NTA will confirm the 2027 fee in the new bulletin. Bank processing charges and GST are extra.

Your form is complete only when the confirmation page is generated. If money is deducted but no confirmation page appears, the transaction counts as cancelled: contact your bank, and pay again to complete the form. NTA refunds duplicate payments after the final result.
How to log in or reset your JEE Main password?
You log in to the JEE Main candidate portal with your application number and password to finish the form, pay the fee, make corrections, apply for Session 2 and later download the city slip, admit card and scorecard. The 2027 login link will open with registration; until then use the official website.
- Open jeemain.nta.nic.in and click the candidate login (sign in) link for the current session.
- Enter your application number and password, and the security code shown on the page if asked.
- After login you can continue the pending steps of your form, such as uploads or fee payment.
- Log out at the end of every session, especially on a shared computer.
Forgot your password? Reset it through your security question and answer, through a code sent by SMS to your registered mobile, or through a reset link sent to your registered email ID.
Can you correct the JEE Main 2027 application form?
Yes, but only once, in a short correction window that NTA opens after registration closes. In 2026 the Session 1 window was 1 to 2 December 2025. NTA does not accept corrections by email, post or WhatsApp. These were the 2026 rules:

If a change raises your fee, you pay the difference online; NTA does not refund fee if it goes down. After you submit the corrections, the form is frozen.
How do you apply for JEE Main 2027 Session 2?
If you registered for Session 1, you do not fill a new form for Session 2. Log in with the same application number when the Session 2 window opens (in 2026 it ran from 1 to 25 February 2026), and pay the Session 2 fee. If you want to take only Session 2, you can register fresh when that window opens. Session 2 is expected in April 2027.
What are the common mistakes in the JEE Main application form?
- Filling more than one form. NTA cancels such candidates and treats it as unfair means, even at a later stage.
- Applying with an out-of-date Aadhaar or an expired category certificate. NTA asks you to update both before applying to avoid discrepancies or rejection later.
- Giving a mobile number or email ID you will not have access to later. Neither can be changed in the correction window.
- Uploading a photo with a mask, a dark background or ears hidden, or a photo that does not match your ID. The photo cannot be changed later.
- Choosing exam cities outside the states of your permanent or present address. Only those states are allowed.
- Picking the wrong medium. You must answer in the medium you chose in the form.
- Entering the wrong category or PwD status. NTA passes the same category to JEE Advanced and does not change it after the result.
- Closing the payment page before the confirmation page appears, and not saving the confirmation page as a PDF and a printout.
What happens after you register for JEE Main 2027?
After registration, NTA releases the exam city intimation slip in early January (8 January in 2026) and the admit card 3 to 4 days before your exam date. Exam dates, pattern, eligibility for admission and results are covered on the JEE Main 2027 page.
The top 2,50,000 Paper 1 candidates qualify for JEE Advanced. NIT, IIIT and IIT seats are then filled through joint counselling.
