JEE Main 2017
JEE Main 2017 Exam Dates – Paper 1 (BE / B.Tech) & Paper 2 (B.Arch / B.Plan) offline pen and paper based exam will be on April 2, 2017. Only Paper 1 (BE / B.Tech) online computer based test will be on April 8, 2017, and April 9, 2017.
JEE Main 2017 application form is available online at jeemain.nic.in from December 1, 2016. Candidates are advised to ensure eligibility before filling the form and submitting fees. Certificates and documents that need to be referred to fill information in application form such as names, date of birth, Aadhar number, class 10 and 12 marks can be kept handy.
New states that have joined JEE Main 2017 system – Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, Uttrakhand, Nagaland, Odisha, and also some other institutions.

Application form of JEE Main 2017 has been released by CBSE. All candidates who are eligible and interested in appearing for Joint Entrance Examination can fill the online application form and submit with fees.
What is new in JEE Main 2017?
- CBSE will calculate All India Rank for JEE Main Result 2017 on the basis of marks obtained by candidate in the entrance exam. (Class 12 board marks were also given weightage for rank until last year).
- Candidates must have at least 75% (or 65% in case of SC / ST) in class 12th exam; or be in top 20 percentile in order to qualify for admission to IITs, NITs, IIITs, CFTIs.

JEE Main 2017 Eligibility Criteria
Date of birth of candidate should fall on or after October 01, 1992. For SC, ST, PwD candidates the date of birth must be on or after October 01, 1987. Candidate must enter same date of birth in application form as given in Secondary Education Board/University certificate.
Year of appearing in class 12 exam
Candidate can have either passed class 12th or equivalent qualifying exam in 2015 or 2016 or will be appearing in 2017. Others including candidates passed class 12th or equivalent qualifying exam 2014 or earlier, or going to appear in 2018 are not eligible. Note that even such candidates who appeared in class 12th / equivalent qualifying examinations in 2014, did not pass in 2014, but passed in 2015 are also not eligible to appear in JEE Main 2017.
Subjects in qualifying exam
Applicant should have taken at least five (5) subjects in class 12th/ qualifying. If you have studied four (4) or less subjects then you are not eligible for the Joint Entrance Examination Main 2017.
Maximum number of attempts for JEE Main
Candidates can appear for JEE Main maximum of three (3) times.
Eligibility for admission in NITs, IIITs, CFTIs, IITs
Central Seat Allocation Board will look after counselling and seat allotment to NITs, IIITs, IITs, CFTIs through JEE Main 2017 All India Rank. To be eligible for JEE Main counselling candidate must have obtained at least 75% marks in the 12th class examination, or be in the top 20 percentile in the 12th class examination conducted by the respective Boards. For SC/ST candidates the qualifying marks would be 65% in the 12th class examination.
JEE Main 2017 Application Form
To apply for JEE Main 2017 candidate must have valid Aadhar Card number / Aadhaar Enrolment Number / Registration number given by facilitation center if Aadhaar enrolment facility is not available at the facilitation centres.

- Refer official documents and certificates to enter all details including name, name of parents, category, date of birth, email ID, mobile number, class 10 and 12 information, school studied from.
- Make sure that if you are selecting a particular category (apart from UR / General) that you have relevant certificates to support the claim.
- Keep in mind that JEE Main application form must be submitted before the last date.

JEE Main 2017 Syllabus
Questions in the exam will be on Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry taught in +2 level. Complete syllabus is given in the official information brochure and also on the website. Study all topics well to score high in the exam.

JEE Main Admit Card 2017 will be available as per schedule. It is made available online at the official website. It is one of the few things that should be carried to the exam center. The significance of admit card can be understood by the fact that any candidate not carrying it will not be allowed to appear for JEE Main 2017 exam.
JEE Main Exam Pattern
JEE (Main) exam pattern has not been mentioned by CBSE in the information brochure. We have given below the exam pattern of last year’s JEE Main.
- JEE Main Paper 1 is for BE / B.Tech.
- JEE Main Paper 2 is for B.Arch . B.Planning.
Paper 1 has objective type with equal weightage to Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics.
Paper 2 has objective type questions for Mathematics (Part I) and Aptitude Test (Part II). Questions to test drawing aptitude are asked for Drawing Test (Part III)

Question Paper of JEE Main 2017
View or download JEE Main question papers of past years to prepare for the Joint Entrance Examination Main. CBSE will also release officially the JEE Main question paper 2017 after conducting exam. The purpose of this activity is twofold
- Candidates who have appeared in exam can know all the questions asked and match them with answer keys.
- Students who will appear for JEE Main in the future will have easy access to preparation material in the form of question papers.
JEE Main 2017 Question Paper 2nd April 2017 – Usually CBSE issues four sets of question papers for pen and paper based exam. Note that the questions in all sets are the same, only in jumbled up manner.
JEE Main 2017 Question Paper 8th April 2017 – Questions will appear on the computer screen. Test takers will select most appropriate answer by ticking the option they think is correct. When CBSE releases question paper of 8 April 2017, note that the order of questions will be different for each test taker, but essentially they will all be the same questions for the same session.
JEE Main 2017 Question Paper 9th April 2017 – This will be the second day of computer based test. Questions will be different for each session. The overall difficulty level of question papers on all the dates are at par.
JEE Main 2017 Answer Key
There will be a separate answer key of JEE Main 2017 exam for each date and session. CBSE is the sole body that is in charge of releasing official answer keys. Answer key of JEE Main 2017 published by CBSE will be considered final and binding and marks of candidates will be calculated on basis of that. At the same time, several coaching centers and individual education experts also publish JEE Main answer keys a few hours after exam only. Unofficial answer keys published by bodies other than CBSE are also taken for reference purpose in the duration that CBSE takes to release official keys. Here are few points of significance on JEE Main answer key 2017.
- They contain correct answers to all questions asked in the Joint Entrance Examination Main.
- Answer key differs for each question paper set. While checking answers, candidate must ensure they are referring to same question paper set they got at the time of exam.
- Candidates can get in touch with CBSE regarding issues with the official keys, if any, as per schedule.
JEE Main 2017 Result
CBSE will announce JEE Main 2017 result on the decided date and time. Whereas notification regarding announcement of result is put up at jeemain.nic.in, result is hosted and made available for checking at cbseresults.nic.in. All test takers can log in and check JEE Main Result which indicates marks obtained and rank. Usually what happens is that first CBSE displays score and announces which candidates are eligible for JEE Advanced, and then after a few days displays ranks. As this time rank will only depend on marks of JEE Main 2017 and not on class 12 board marks, hence it is possible that JEE Main 2017 Score Display, and All India Rank announcement be done at the same time.

JEE Main 2017 Cut Off
When students say JEE Main Cut Off, they usually mean the minimum marks or rank required in JEE Main 2017 exam in order to get admission in one the colleges. By this token, the cut off of JEE Main 2017 will be known after exam is conducted, result announced, and counselling concludes.
In the meantime candidates can check out last year’s JEE Main Cut Offs.
Note that JEE Main cut off can also be referred to as the opening and closing ranks. The highest and lowest All India Rank of candidates who get admission in certain college’s specific branch are referred to as the opening and closing ranks.
Another definition of JEE Main Cut Off is the minimum marks or rank required in JEE Main 2017 to be eligible for JEE Advanced 2017.
JEE Main 2017 Cut Off To Be Eligible for JEE Advanced 2017
Candidates must be in top 2,20,000 including all categories as per JEE Main 2017 result scores and also have obtained positive marks in Paper 1 of JEE Main 2017 so as to be eligible for JEE Advanced 2017. Number of top candidates for each category will be as indicated in below table.

CSAB – Central Seat Allocation Board / JoSAA – Joint Seat Allocation Authority
Admission to NITs, IIITs, CFTIs, IITs is done by the Central Seat Allocation Board / Joint Seat Allocation Authority. JEE Main Counselling 2017 and JEE Advanced Counselling 2017 both will be combined as CSAB 2017 / JoSAA 2017. Candidates who have appeared either only in JEE Main 2017 or both JEE Main 2017 and JEE Advanced 2017 can participatein counselling to get admission through counselling and seat allotment process.
- JoSAA / CSAB will be for admission to Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), National Institute of Technology (NIT), Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT), Government Funded Technical Institute (GFTI).
- Candidates can register for JoSAA 2017 / CSAB 2017 as per schedule and select preferences for colleges and branches.
- Seat allotment will be on the basis of All India Rank, preferences of seats, and seat availability.
- On getting a seat allotted, candidate can either chose to confirm it or try next available option. There will be a limited rounds of seat allotment for the colleges.
B.Tech Admission on the basis of JEE Main 2017
Candidates may please note that JOSAA 2017 will be the centralized counselling for NITs, IIITs, GFTIs, IITs. However there are a large number of colleges in every state that are also offering engineering admission on the basis of JEE Main 2017 All India Rank.
