What is the pattern of a JEE Main sample paper?
A JEE Main sample paper copies the official pattern, so each paper takes 3 hours and carries negative marking for MCQs and numerical questions alike.

Numerical answers must be entered as whole numbers, and no calculator is allowed.
How should I use JEE Main sample papers?
- Finish a full round of the syllabus before you start full-length papers.
- Sit the paper in one go with a 3-hour timer, at 9 am or 3 pm to match the real shifts.
- Do all rough work on paper and avoid a calculator, as in the real exam.
- Mark the paper with +4 for each correct answer and -1 for each wrong one.
- List every mistake by chapter and revise those chapters before the next paper.
- Re-attempt the questions you got wrong a week later.
Sample papers or previous year papers: which should I solve?
Solve both. Sample papers help you practise the pattern and time management, while past papers show the real difficulty and the topics NTA repeats. Once you have done a few sample papers, move on to JEE Main previous year question papers for the last two or three years.
