Now, coming to the most frequently asked question about JEE Mains 2017; How will be the JEE Main score and rank determined? Well, the answer is below.

JEE Main 2017 Score – The calculation of the score will be done as per the marking scheme, i.e. 4 marks will be allocated for the correct answer and 1 mark will be deducted for an incorrect response.

Score = total marks for correct repose – total marks for incorrect response

Another thing which candidates wish to know is what is a good JEE Main score? So, a good JEE score that which guarantee admission in NITs/IITs/SFTIs/CFTIs. It is nothing less than 220-250.

JEE Main 2017 AIR – The rank calculation will be very simply on the basis of score. The higher the score, the higher will be the rank of the candidate. The cases of the tie will definitely arise in this rank calculation methodology, for it the following method will be used.

JEE Mains 2017 Tie Breaking Method – To break the tie, which might occur during JEE Main Result evaluation, following process will be followed:

  • Candidate with higher marks in Maths will get the higher score.
  • If the issue is not solved, one with higher marks in Physics will get the higher rank.
  • For further resolving of the tie, the ratio of correct and incorrect answers will be considered.
  • Highly unlikely, but if the tie still prevails then the same rank will be allotted.
  • One with higher marks in Aptitude Test will be given higher rank.
  • Next, the marks in Drawing Test will be taken into consideration. Higher the mark, the higher rank will be allocated.
  • To resolve the tie, if not resolved yet, the ratio of positive and negative marks will be checked.
  • Lastly, the same rank will be allocated.

The cutoff of JEE Main will be announced with the JEE Mains 2017 Result. It will be announced category-wise and on the basis of it candidates will be delimited. JEE Main Result 2017 – Class 12th Marks Confusion and Percentile vs Percentage

As said above, the rank will only be propounded on the basis of JEE Mains 2017 Score. However, class 12th marks are important to ensure the eligibility. The candidates will only be eligible for JEE Main, if:

  • They score more than 75% marks in class 12th (65% for SC/ST candidate)
  • Or should be among top 20 percentilers.

Note: The percentage and percentile will be considered for best 5 and not for PCM or PCB or PCMB. The top 5 will include Mathematics, Physics, Language, Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology, Technical Vocational Subject and any other subject.
