Marks / Score in JEE Main 2017 Result and All India Rank

Only JEE Main 2017 score is used to calculate rank.

Important note

Until last year, JEE Main All India Rank was calculated by giving weightage to JEE Main Score, and Marks obtained in class 12th qualifying examination. From 2017, this is being discontinued.

JEE Main 2017 Score – The calculation of the score will be done as per the marking scheme, i.e. 4 marks will be allocated for the correct answer and 1 mark will be deducted for an incorrect response.

Score = total marks for correct answer – total marks for incorrect answer.

Another thing which candidates wish to know is what is a good JEE Main score? So, a good JEE score that which guarantee admission in NITs/IITs/SFTIs/CFTIs. It is nothing less than 220-250.

JEE Main 2017 AIR – The rank calculation will be very simply on the basis of score. The higher the score, the higher will be the rank of the candidate. The cases of the tie will definitely arise in this rank calculation methodology, for it the following method will be used.

JEE Mains 2017 Tie Breaking Method – To break the tie, which might occur during JEE Main Result evaluation, following process will be followed:

Tie Breaking for Paper 1

  • Candidate with higher marks in Maths will get the higher score.
  • If the issue is not solved, one with higher marks in Physics will get the higher rank.
  • For further resolving of the tie, the ratio of correct and incorrect answers will be considered.
  • Highly unlikely, but if the tie still prevails then the same rank will be allotted.

Tie Breaking for Paper 2

  • One with higher marks in Aptitude Test will be given higher rank.
  • Next, the marks in Drawing Test will be taken into consideration. Higher the mark, the higher rank will be allocated.
  • To resolve the tie, if not resolved yet, the ratio of positive and negative marks will be checked.
  • Lastly, the same rank will be allocated.

JEE Main 2017 Cut Off

Cut off specifies the minimum marks required to qualify JEE Main. Category wise cut off marks are decided by the exam conducting body. Candidates can check JEE Main 2017 Cut Off in score card. The exact cut off data will be available once result is announced.

Candidates can download JEE Main 2017 Score / Rank Card.

  • Central Board of Secondary Education will not dispatch rank cards to candidates by post. Hence they must download it from official website.
  • Scorecard will be required at the time of admission counselling. Keep it safely till the end of admission process.
  • Details required to download JEE Main 2017 Scorecard are roll number and password.
    Scorecard contains candidate details such as name, roll number, category, marks obtained (all papers), All India Rank, State Rank.

After JEE Main 2017 Result

Candidates who have qualified for JEE Advanced can apply for JEE Advanced 2017.

Candidates can take part in JEE Main Counselling 2017 with a valid score and rank. There are counselling for engineering admission 2017-2018 through JEE Main Result 2017. JoSAA 2017 will be the joint counselling for JEE Main and JEE Advanced 2017. Admission to NITs, IIITs, GFTIs, IIITs will be done through JoSAA.

Admission to NITs, IIITs, GFTIs, through Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) is on basis of JEE Main 2017 All India Rank (AIR) for candidates securing at least 75% (65% for SC/ST) marks in class 12th examination or in top 20 percentile in class 12th examination of respective board.

State and college level engineering admission counselling will also take place. After the declaration of result of JEE Main 2017, candidates must remember to apply for B.Tech Admission 2017-2018 Through JEE Main 2017 for whichever college you wish to get admission in.
