Is there an entrance exam for Uttarakhand ITI admission 2027?

No. VPP fills Government ITI seats on merit. Your rank comes from the percentage of total marks in your qualifying class, worked out to two decimal places, and seats are then allotted online by rank, reservation category and the choices you lock.

There are two state-level merit lists: one for Class 10 based trades and one for Class 8 based trades. A Class 10 pass candidate enters the Class 8 list only if the Class 8 details and marksheet were also uploaded. Candidates who passed Class 10 from the Uttarakhand Board (UBSE, Ramnagar) get 5 extra percentage points as preference marks.

If two candidates have the same percentage, the older one ranks higher. If the date of birth is also the same, Mathematics marks and then Science marks decide, and finally the first letter of the name in English alphabetical order.

ITI courses are skill-training courses in trades such as Electrician, Fitter or COPA. To compare trades before you apply, see our guide to the best ITI trades.

  2. Log in with your registered email ID. In 2026 the password sent by SMS and email was your date of birth in DDMMYYYY format; the portal also offers login by email OTP.
  3. Click Apply Now and answer the three eligibility questions on domicile, qualifying exam from Uttarakhand and parent’s posting in Uttarakhand. You must answer Yes to at least one.
  4. Fill in your personal, reservation category, sub-category and education details (Class 8, and Class 10 with Science and Maths marks if passed), then upload the documents. Each file can be up to 500 KB in JPG, JPEG or PDF format.
  5. Preview the form, tick the declaration and use Pay and Submit to pay the fee by card, UPI or net banking. Print the acknowledgement. The form cannot be changed after final submission, except in a correction window if VPP opens one (22 to 25 July in 2026).

  • Also upload the certificates for your reservation category and sub-category, issued by the competent authority. General category candidates need no category certificate.

The annual training fee is paid at the ITI at the time of admission, as fixed by a state government order of 23 December 2019. The prospectus does not print the amount, so confirm it with the ITI.

How does Uttarakhand ITI counselling and seat allotment work?

VPP allots seats online in two phases, separately for the Class 10 and Class 8 merit lists, and then lets ITIs fill vacant seats on the spot. There are no separate 1st, 2nd and 3rd merit lists as on some other state portals.

  1. Phase 1: in merit order, the portal checks your choices one by one and gives you the first choice for which a seat is free under your rank and category. If no seat is free up to your tenth choice, you get no seat in this phase.
  2. The allotment result goes on the VPP website and the allotment letter reaches you by email and SMS and on your dashboard. Report at the allotted ITI within the given dates (4 to 10 August in 2026), or the allotment is cancelled.
  3. Phase 2 covers the seats left vacant. It is open to candidates who got no seat, candidates who got a seat other than their first choice, and candidates whose forms had errors they can now correct. Candidates allotted their first choice in Phase 1 cannot join.
  4. New candidates can also apply online for Phase 2. The state merit list is then redrawn with fresh ranks, and earlier applicants can revise their choices against the vacant seats.
  5. If seats are still vacant after the two online phases, ITIs hold institute-level on-the-spot admission on a first-come-first-served basis. In 2026 this was held on 7 September 2026 at the nearest Government ITI.

At admission the ITI checks your original documents against the online form. If any detail does not match, you are not admitted. You must also be physically and mentally fit for the trade; PwD candidates bring a certificate of at least 40% disability from the district Chief Medical Officer.

How to Check the Uttarakhand ITI Merit List and Allotment Result

VPP posts the state-level merit lists as PDFs on the counselling portal, one for Class 10 pass and one for Class 8 pass candidates. In 2026 the first list came on 26 July 2026 and the 2nd round lists, redrawn with fresh applicants, were up by 19 August 2026 with 6,174 ranks in the Class 10 list and 628 in the Class 8 list.

  1. Open ukgitivpp.com or vpputtarakhand.in.
  2. Open the merit list PDF for your level: Class 10 based or Class 8 based.
  3. Find your rank by application number (format UKITI/2026/xxxxxx in 2026) or name. The list shows rank, application number, your name, father’s and mother’s names and date of birth.
  4. Log in to your dashboard to see your rank card and, after each phase, your allotment letter with the ITI, trade and reporting details. Both are also sent by email and SMS.
