What is in CEETA PG 2027 Part I (Engineering Mathematics)?
Part I tests undergraduate engineering mathematics and is compulsory for every candidate.
- Determinants and matrices: linear equations, rank, eigenvalues and eigenvectors, Cayley-Hamilton theorem, quadratic forms.
- Calculus and differential equations: partial derivatives, Jacobians, Taylor’s expansion, maxima and minima, linear ODEs with constant coefficients.
- Vector calculus: gradient, divergence, curl, line, surface and volume integrals, Green’s, Stokes’ and Gauss divergence theorems.
- Functions of complex variables and complex integration: analytic functions, Cauchy-Riemann equations, residues, contour integration.
- Transforms: Laplace, Fourier and Z-transforms.
- Numerical methods: roots of equations, interpolation, numerical integration and numerical solution of ODEs.
- Applied probability: random variables, standard distributions, correlation and regression.
What is in CEETA PG 2027 Part II (Basic Engineering and Sciences)?
Part II is common to all candidates and covers basic engineering and science from the first years of a B.E. or B.Tech.

What is in CEETA PG 2027 Part III?
Part III is the discipline paper you select at registration, and it carries 75 of the 100 marks. If you answer a different section in the exam, Part III will not be evaluated.
Each discipline has its own syllabus PDF on tancet.annauniv.edu, covering core B.E./B.Tech. subjects of that branch. For example, the Mining Engineering syllabus covers exploration and surveying, rock mechanics, and mining methods and machinery.
Common Part III areas include civil, mechanical, electrical and electronics, electronics and communication, computer science and IT, chemical, and architecture and planning. Check the official list before you register.
What is the CEETA PG 2027 exam pattern and marking?
CEETA PG is a 2-hour offline OMR exam with 100 questions for 100 marks. Each correct answer gets 1 mark, each wrong answer loses 1/4 mark, and unanswered questions get zero.

Shading more than one box counts as a wrong answer. Part III marks are normalised so that candidates from different disciplines can be ranked together.

How to Prepare for the CEETA PG 2027 Syllabus
Start with Part I, since the same mathematics topics appear for every candidate. Then revise the Part II basics, and spend most of your time on Part III, which decides 75% of your marks.
- Use a standard engineering mathematics text such as B. S. Grewal’s Higher Engineering Mathematics.
- Revise your own B.E./B.Tech. core subjects for Part III; GATE-level books for your branch also help.
- Practise with CEETA PG previous year question papers on an OMR sheet within 2 hours.
- Attempt only questions you are fairly sure of, because of the 1/4 negative mark.
