How to Apply for CMC Vellore PG Nursing 2027
You apply online only, under Nursing Postgraduate Courses on the CMC admissions website. The 2027 form is not open yet. One form covers all the PG nursing programmes you choose, and your application number is generated only after you pay the full fee.
Apply Online for CMC Vellore PG Nursing 2027
Applications for CMC Vellore PG Nursing 2027 are expected in February 2027.
- Open the CMC admissions website, click Nursing Postgraduate Courses and read the bulletin when the 2027 edition is released.
- Click Candidate Registration and enter your name, gender, email, mobile number and date of birth. Save the Temporary Login ID that is generated.
- Fill in your academic details, work experience and the courses you want. For M.Sc. Nursing, list up to two specialities in order of preference and choose the type of paper for each.
- Upload your photograph (JPEG, up to 80 KB, 150 x 150 pixels) and signature (JPEG, up to 50 KB, 150 x 50 pixels).
- Pay the fee online by card, net banking or UPI. Your application number is generated after payment.
- Post the printed form, proof of payment and attested copies of the required certificates to the Registrar, College of Nursing, CMC Vellore by the deadline (4 April in 2026).

The diploma specialities include Cardiothoracic, Critical Care, Emergency and Disaster, Neonatal, Neuro Science, Oncology, Operation Room, Psychiatric, Orthopaedic and Rehabilitation, Gerontological, Renal, Burns and Reconstructive Surgery, and Haematology Nursing. All programmes are recognised by the Indian Nursing Council except the Renal Nursing diploma and the fellowships, which are run by the College of Nursing.
Who can apply for CMC Vellore PG Nursing 2027?
You need a nursing qualification, registration with a State Nursing Council with a Nurse Unique Identity Number (NUID), and in most cases one year of experience. These were the 2026 rules:
- M.Sc. Nursing: B.Sc. Nursing, B.Sc. (Hons) Nursing or Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing with at least 55% aggregate, and at least one year of work experience as of 31 May of the admission year in a hospital, nursing college or school, or community health programme.
- Men without a midwifery registration cannot apply for the Obstetrics and Gynaecological or Community Health Nursing specialities.
- Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing: Class 12 (or equivalent) and a Diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) or an approved alternate course.
- Post Basic Diploma: GNM, B.Sc. Nursing or Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing, with one year of clinical experience as a staff nurse as of 31 May.
- Fellowship: B.Sc. Nursing or Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing, with one year of work experience as of 31 May.
- All candidates must be medically fit. Nurses trained abroad must meet Indian Nursing Council and university requirements.
What is the CMC Vellore PG Nursing 2027 exam pattern?
Step I is a computer-based test in English. Each paper has 100 multiple-choice questions with four options, lasts 90 minutes and gives 1 mark per correct answer. This was the 2026 pattern:

There is no negative marking, and the test cannot be submitted before the 90 minutes are over. With one M.Sc. speciality you take either the General paper or that Speciality paper. With two, you take the General paper for both, or the General paper for one and the Speciality paper for the other; you cannot take two Speciality papers. Men who did an alternate course in place of midwifery are not assessed in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in the Post Basic paper.
How does CMC Vellore select PG nursing students?
Selection is on merit across two steps, and anyone who does not meet the eligibility rules is not called for Step II.
- Step I: the computer-based test. The Step II shortlist is put on the website and emailed to candidates.
- Step II at the College of Nursing, Vellore: registration and medical check-up on day one, personal interview on day two. M.Sc. and Post Basic B.Sc. candidates also take practical tests of knowledge and skills.
- Final selection list and programme-wise waitlists, based on Step I and Step II together. Extra weightage goes to candidates who have served in areas of need, with documents.
Under the 2026-27 prospectus, at least 60% of seats in each M.Sc. speciality and at least 75% of Post Basic B.Sc. seats are for Minority Network and CMC Vellore staff candidates, with 10% under Institutional Preference. Minority Network candidates need certification from an eligible church or Christian organisation (due 4 May in 2026) and serve that organisation for at least two years after the course.
