EFLU Admission 2027 is the 2027-28 admission round of The English and Foreign Languages University, Hyderabad, a central university. EFLU no longer holds its own UG or PG test: B.A. seats go by CUET (UG) 2027 scores and M.A., B.Ed. and PG diploma seats by CUET (PG) 2027 scores. Ph.D. uses an EFLU test or NET/JRF plus an interview.

Does EFLU hold its own entrance exam in 2027?
Not for UG and PG courses. EFLU now fills B.A. seats strictly on CUET (UG) scores and M.A., B.Ed. English and PG diploma seats on CUET (PG) scores, so the old EFLU entrance test for these courses is no longer used. Only Ph.D. admission still uses an EFLU entrance test, alongside NET/JRF.

A CUET score alone does not get you a seat. You must also apply to EFLU on its own portal within EFLU’s window and pay its application fee.
EFLU Admission 2027 Important Dates
EFLU has not announced its 2027-28 schedule yet. The table shows the expected CUET 2027 dates and EFLU’s expected application windows, based on the 2026 cycle (PG 1 to 22 June 2026, UG 16 July to 5 August 2026).

How to Apply for EFLU Admission 2027
You apply in two steps: first for CUET (UG) or CUET (PG) 2027 on NTA’s website, then to EFLU on eflucuet.samarth.edu.in once EFLU opens its window. In 2026 the PG window ran from 1 to 22 June and the UG window from 16 July to 5 August.
Apply Online for EFLU 2027
Applications for EFLU 2027 are expected in December 2026.
- Read EFLU’s admission notification and prospectus for your programme, its eligibility and the CUET test paper it accepts.
- Register for CUET (UG) 2027 or CUET (PG) 2027 with NTA and choose the paper EFLU asks for (for example English 101 plus General Aptitude Test 501 for the UG English stream).
- When EFLU’s notification is out, register on the Samarth portal: eflucuet.samarth.edu.in for UG, or its /pg page for PG.
- Fill in your details and CUET scores, upload documents and set your programme preferences carefully. For UG, preferences cannot be changed after you submit.
- Pay the application fee online and keep a copy of the submitted form.
- Check the merit or shortlist on efluniversity.ac.in and pay the fee on the portal within the deadline to block your seat.

Which CUET paper do you need for EFLU 2027?
It depends on the stream or programme. For UG, EFLU groups its B.A. programmes into three streams, and you may choose any two of them. These are the 2026 paper rules; check the 2027 notification for changes.

Who can apply for EFLU admission 2027?
Eligibility depends on the level. These are the rules in EFLU’s 2026-27 notifications and prospectus:
- B.A. (Hons./Research): Class 12 or equivalent with at least 50% marks (45% for SC/ST/PwBD) and English as one of the subjects, plus a CUET (UG) score in the required papers. Class 12 students appearing in the exam can apply.
- Most two-year M.A. programmes: a bachelor’s degree in any discipline with 55% marks for General/OBC (50% for SC/ST/PwBD). For an Hons. degree only Hons. marks count.
- M.A. Computational Linguistics: a bachelor’s in Linguistics, English (with 10 credits in Linguistics), Computer Science or Engineering, Computer Applications, or Mathematics and Physics.
- B.Ed. English: B.A. in English language or literature, or an M.A. in English, Literature, TESL or ELT, with 50% marks (45% for SC/ST/PwBD).
- Final-year students may apply but must pass with the minimum marks before admission.
Seats follow central reservation rules: 15% SC, 7.5% ST, 27% OBC-NCL and 10% EWS, plus supernumerary seats of up to 5% each for PwBD, wards of defence personnel and Kashmiri migrants.
Which programmes and seats does EFLU offer?
EFLU teaches at its Hyderabad campus and its regional campuses at Shillong and Lucknow. For 2026-27 it offered 16 B.A. programmes with 340 seats:

At PG level, most M.A. programmes have 20 seats, with one-year M.A. options of 10 seats in several subjects. M.A. English (Cafeteria) at Hyderabad has 90 seats and B.Ed. English has 50. Shillong and Lucknow also offer M.A. English (Cafeteria), English Literature and Linguistics, plus JMC at Shillong and PGDTE at Lucknow.
How does EFLU prepare its merit lists?
By CUET score. For UG, EFLU ranks candidates on CUET (UG) merit and then applies your order of preference, the reservation policy and seat availability. You get only one programme, and in later rounds you can only move up to a programme you ranked higher.
For PG, EFLU publishes a merit list for each programme based on CUET (PG) scores. In 2026, first-round candidates had two days to pay the fee on the Samarth portal and block the seat; a seat not paid for is forfeited and the candidate is not considered in later rounds. Ties are broken by marks in the qualifying degree, then in the earlier exams.
How do you get EFLU Ph.D. admission?
Through one of two channels, both ending in an interview. NET/JRF holders are called straight to the interview, while other candidates must qualify in EFLU’s Ph.D. entrance test. The entrance test carries 70% and the interview 30% of the final merit, and a NET/JRF candidate’s interview mark out of 30 is scaled to 100.
- You can apply for up to two Ph.D. programmes if you meet the eligibility for both.
- Final-semester students can apply as non-NET candidates if they finish their end-semester exams before the admission date.
- OBC-NCL and EWS certificates must be in the Government of India format and recently issued.
For the 2025-26 round, EFLU issued its NET/JRF notification on 25 June 2025 and a later notification for non-NET candidates. Provisional selection lists came out on 7 August 2026. EFLU has not announced its next Ph.D. notification yet.

Cut-offs differ by programme and campus, so treat these figures as a rough guide only.
Are the old EFLU entrance test patterns still useful?
No. The EFLU entrance test patterns for 2019-20 that were shared for B.A., M.A., B.Ed. and PG diploma courses no longer apply, because those courses now use CUET. Prepare with CUET instead: solve previous papers from our CUET UG and CUET PG pages, and practise on the free CUET mock test.
