GMCH Chandigarh GCET 2027: Dates, Application, Eligibility, Seats

GMCH GCET 2027 is the Combined Entrance Test of Government Medical College & Hospital, Sector 32, Chandigarh, for B.Sc. Nursing and five allied health degrees: BMLS, BMRIT, BAOTT, B.Optom and BRTT. It has not been announced yet. Going by 2026, the online form is expected in June 2027 and the 100-question test in July 2027.

GMCH GCET 2027 Important Dates

GMCH has not announced the GCET-2027 schedule yet. In 2026 the form was open from 17 to 25 June and the test was held on 5 July, so the 2027 dates below are expected months only.

How to Apply for GMCH GCET 2027

You apply online only, on the GMCH website, in two parts. Part-I is the form for the entrance test and is filled by everyone with the fee. Part-II is filled only by candidates who qualify, after the result, to upload certificates for counselling. The prospectus is published only as a PDF; no printed form is sold.

1. Go to gmch.gov.in, open Admissions and click Candidate Registration. Your registration ID and password come to your email.
2. Log in through Candidate Login and fill in your personal details and pool (UT Chandigarh or General).
3. Enter your qualifications and choose the GCET subject option: 10+2 Physics, Chemistry and Biology, 10+2 with Maths (BAOTT only), or the paper for your diploma or vocational course.
4. Upload your photo, signature and left thumb impression in JPEG under 50 KB, plus the employer’s NOC if you are an in-service candidate.
5. Pay the fee online with Fee Pay and print the payment receipt.
6. Click Final Submission, check the form and submit. You cannot change it after this, so print a copy.

The fee is paid online only and is not refunded. One form covers every course you are eligible for; you pick the course at counselling, by rank. Your category cannot be added or changed after the form is submitted.

Who can apply for GMCH GCET 2027?

You can apply if you are an Indian national, at least 17 years old on 31 December of the admission year, and have passed 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English, each passed individually, with an aggregate of 50% (45% for SC). Students awaiting their Class 12 result can apply, but must show the marks sheet by the first counselling.

• 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry and Maths: eligible for BAOTT only. If you studied both Maths and Biology, you must pick one for the test.
• NIOS 10+2 with the same subjects and marks: eligible for General Pool seats only.
• Diploma or vocational course holders: eligible for the B.Sc. course linked to their diploma, through that course’s paper.
• In-service staff of the UT Health Department or DMER with 5 years’ service: eligible for in-service seats in their own discipline, with an NOC submitted with the form.

Seats are split into two pools. The UT Chandigarh Pool (85%) is for students who passed the qualifying exam as regular students of a school or college in Chandigarh. The General Pool (15%) is for everyone else. In both pools 15% seats are for SC, 5% for PwD (horizontal) and 3% for OBC-NCL; OBC-NCL reservation in the UT Pool is being raised in steps to 27%.

Which courses can you join through GCET, and how many seats are there?

GCET fills 108 seats in six degree courses at GMCH-32. All are 4-year courses except B.Optom, which is 5 years.

B.Sc. Nursing also has 8 supernumerary seats for students from Jammu and Kashmir. These are filled on central government recommendation, so do not apply for them to GMCH. GCET is not used for MBBS or BDS; for those, see Chandigarh NEET Counselling 2027.

What is the GMCH GCET 2027 exam pattern?

GCET is a 2-hour paper of 100 multiple-choice questions, 1 mark each, in English only, with no negative marking. The 10+2 stream paper has five sections of 20 questions at Class 12 level.

Diploma and vocational candidates take a course-specific paper instead. For example, the BMLS paper has Anatomy and Physiology (30), Biology and Chemistry (35) and Lab Techniques (35); the BMRIT and BRTT papers swap in Radiation Physics and Biology and their own techniques section.

How do you get the GCET admit card, and what are the exam-day rules?

The admit card is downloaded from the GMCH website, about four days before the test (from 1 July in 2026). The test venue is printed on it.

• Paste a self-attested photograph on the downloaded admit card.
• Carry one photo ID: Aadhaar, passport, driving licence or voter ID.
• Report by 2:00 PM for a 3:00 PM test; no entry after 2:30 PM.
• Phones, any watch, jewellery, cardboard and even pens or pencils are not allowed, and there is no place to keep them.

When are the GCET answer key and result released?

GMCH posts the question papers and answer keys on its website within 12 hours of the test, and you can email objections to the address given in the prospectus by the deadline in the notice (5 PM the next day in the prospectus). Experts review the objections before the final merit list.

The result is a PDF list on gmch.gov.in, issued three days after the test in 2026 (8 July). It shows the roll number, name and father’s name, stream, category, marks and percentile of each candidate, so you check your roll number in the list. Qualified candidates must then fill Part-II within the given window.

What is the expected GMCH GCET 2027 cut off?

These are the minimum scores to qualify for Part-II and counselling, from the GCET-2026 official result notice; they are not closing ranks.

How does GCET counselling work?

Counselling is offline and in person at GMCH-32. Only candidates whose Part-II documents pass scrutiny are called, and GMCH puts pool-wise and category-wise merit lists on its website first.

• You choose an available course by rank; General seats are filled first, then reserved seats.
• Bring all original certificates, the printed application form and two photographs. Copies and DigiLocker copies are not accepted.
• Ties are broken by 10+2 aggregate in Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Maths and English, then by age (older first).
• No separate call letter is sent and there are no marks for counselling.

A second round fills vacant seats. In 2026 it was held on 7 October for 45 vacant seats. The annual fee in 2026-27 was Rs 9,856 (Rs 9,406 for SC and PwD), subject to revision by Panjab University.
