Which seats are filled through HP NEET PG counselling?
AMRU fills the 50% state quota MD/MS seats of Himachal’s six government medical colleges, all MD/MS seats of the private MMMC Solan (state, management and NRI quota) and the state’s post-MBBS DNB seats. The other 50% of government college seats are All India Quota seats filled through MCC NEET PG counselling.
| College | Seats in HP counselling |
|---|---|
| Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC), Shimla | 50% state quota MD/MS |
| Dr. Rajendra Prasad Govt. Medical College, Kangra at Tanda | 50% state quota MD/MS; DNB |
| Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri Govt. Medical College, Mandi at Ner Chowk | 50% state quota MD/MS; DNB |
| Dr. Y.S. Parmar Govt. Medical College, Nahan | 50% state quota MD/MS; DNB |
| Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru Govt. Medical College, Chamba | 50% state quota MD/MS |

State quota seats are split 66.67% for in-service GDOs (medical officers of the HP government) and 33.33% for direct candidates, using a 6-point roster in each specialty. DNB seats go only to regular GDOs, not contract GDOs. A 40-point roster reserves 15% for SC, 7.5% for ST, 5% for PwBD and 10% for EWS (EWS does not apply at MMMC), and each government college keeps one seat for a single girl child. This list and the rules are from the 2025-26 prospectus and seat matrix.

Who can apply for HP NEET PG Counselling 2026?
You can apply if you hold an MBBS, are registered with NMC or a State Medical Council and have qualified NEET PG 2026; state quota seats also need a Himachal link. These rules are from the 2025-26 prospectus.
- MBBS degree or provisional MBBS pass certificate recognised by NMC (or the former MCI).
- Compulsory rotating internship completed by the cut-off date set by MCC/NMC for the session.
- Permanent or provisional registration with NMC or a State Medical Council.
- NEET PG qualified at the minimum percentile: 50th for General, 40th for SC/ST/OBC (including PwBD), 45th for General PwBD.
- In-service quota (66.67% of state quota seats): HP government GDOs eligible under the state PG policy, with an incentive certificate/NOC from the Directorate of Health Services. In-service GDOs cannot take management quota seats.
- Direct quota (33.33% of state quota seats): candidates who got their MBBS from a medical college in Himachal Pradesh.
- Management quota at MMMC Solan: open to all Indian nationals meeting the general conditions. NRI quota follows the Supreme Court and HP High Court rulings.
How do counselling rounds work in HP PG medical admission?
AMRU prepares a state merit list from NEET PG scores and allots seats round by round on merit and your choices, following the MCC timetable.
- For in-service GDOs, the merit list adds service incentives certified by the Directorate of Health Services; for 2026-27 the incentive is counted up to the NEET PG 2026 result date. Ties go to the better NEET PG rank.
- For direct candidates, merit is strictly by NEET PG rank.
- Round 1 has a merit list, provisional and final seat allocation and joining. To be considered for upgradation in Round 2, you must complete admission in Round 1.
- Round 1 registrants need not register again for Round 2 or 3, but must fill and lock fresh choices. New candidates can register in later rounds.
- After Round 3, unfilled quota seats are converted (GDO to direct and back, SC to ST and back, then to General; unfilled NRI seats to management quota).
- Candidates admitted on any seat up to Round 3, in MCC or state counselling, cannot take part in the stray vacancy round.
