AIISH Admission 2018

The process of admission to the All India Institute of Speech and Hearing has been commenced and all the aspiring candidates shall take part in the admission process. Application fees

Application fee as given in the table below may be remitted through interbank transfer to the account numbers given below.Those who wish to download the previous years question paper for B.ASLP and MSc entrance exams, may remit an additonal amount of Rs 250/- to the same account, along with the application fee. No hard copy of the question paper will be sent. Only the soft copy of the question paper will be sent as an attachment to the confirmation email which you will receive on final online submission of the completed application form.

Following scanned documents are required and should have the soft copies before filling this application form. Candidate must scan these documents in 72 dpi resolution. Passport size photo must be in .jpg format, others can be in .jpg or .pdf format.

  • 10th Marks card.
  • Caste certificate in case of Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe or OBC.
  • Marks sheet of qualifying examination (If results are declared).
  • Passport size photo.
  • Counterfoil of bank pay in slip/UTR.
  • Documents to claim for eligibility under North Eastern/Diploma/Physically Handicaped(Ortho) category.
  • NOC/Experience/Eligibility certificate for candidates applying to Ph.D. program.

Eligibility Criteria

For Diploma Programmes

  • Diploma in Hearing Aid & Ear Mould Technology (DHA & ET)
    • Admission to Diploma in Hearing Aid and Ear mould Technology is open to candidates who have passed 12th standard / II PUC with Physics background or any Diploma in Electronics/Electrical or ITI Electronics/Electrical or Dental technician course.
    • Candidates should have obtained a minimum of 50% of the aggregate (45% for SC/ST) in the qualifying examination.
    • Candidates who are < 24 years on the 1st July of the year of admission
  • Diploma in Early Childhood Special Education (Hearing Impairment)
    • Admission to DECSE(HI) is open to candidates who have passed 12th standard / II PUC or equivalent education from any recognized board.
    • Candidates should have obtained a minimum of 50% of the aggregate (45% for SC/ST) in the qualifying examination.
    • Candidates should be above 17 years of age.

Preference will be given to (a) graduates, (b) 12th standard / II PUC pass with training in Montessori/ kindergarten / early childhood education (c) parents, siblings and family members of children with hearing impairment who satisfy the prescribed qualification.

  • Diploma in Hearing, Language & Speech (DHLS) through video conference mode
    • Admission to Diploma in Hearing, Language and Speech is open to candidates who have passed 12th standard / II PUC with Physics, Chemistry, Biology & Mathematics.
    • Candidates should have obtained a minimum of 50% of the aggregate (45% for SC/ST) in the qualifying examination.
    • Candidates who are < 21 years on the 1st July of the year of admission.
    • Candidates should have working knowledge in English and proficiency in their regional language.

Preference will be given to candidates from rural areas, sponsored candidates from Government/ nongovernment/voluntary agencies.

For Bachelors Degree Programmes

  • B.ASLP
    • Admission to B.ASLP/BASLP is open to candidates who have passed the 2-year PreUniversity examination conducted by the Pre-University Board of the State of Karnataka or any other examination (10+2) considered as equivalent thereto by the University of Mysore.
    • Candidates who have obtained a minimum of 50% (45% for SC/ST) in the PCMB group or combinations thereof, in their II PUC or qualifying examination are eligible for admission.
    • Only those candidates who have studied at least three subjects from among Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics are eligible for admission.
  • B. Ed. Sp. Ed. (HI)
    • Admission to B.Ed. Spl. Ed. (HI) is open to candidates who have passed any degree examination of the University of Mysore or any other examination recognized as equivalent thereto by the University of Mysore.
    • Candidates should have obtained a minimum of 50% of the aggregate (45% for SC/ST) in the qualifying examination.
    • Only those candidates who have not completed 30 years of age on the 1st of July of the academic year in which admission is sought are eligible for admission. Relaxation of age (up to 10 years) shall be considered for candidates on deputation/in-service.

For P G Diploma Programmes

  • PG Diploma in Augmentative and Alternative Communication (PGDAAC)
    • Admission to Post Graduate Diploma in Augmentative and Alternative Communication is open to the candidates who have passed in any of the below mentioned examinations of the University of Mysore or any other recognized University or Institute with a minimum of 50% in the qualifying examination.
      • B.Sc. (Speech & Hearing) / B.ASLP or equivalent from any other recognized University.
      • Bachelor in Special Education (in Hearing Impairment, Autism Spectrum Disorders, Learning Disability, Mental Retardation, Cerebral Palsy, Multiple disabilities) or equivalent from any other recognized University.
    • The proportion of candidates to be admitted with the qualifying examination of B.Sc. (Speech & Hearing) / B.ASLP and B.S.Ed. streams, will be decided by the institution where the programme is initiated.
    • Those with the above qualification, who are sponsored / deputed from any recognized institution, organization would be given an additional weightage of 2%.
    • No upper age limit is applicable.
  • PG Diploma in Clinical Linguistics for Speech-Language Pathology
    • Candidates with a degree in B.Sc. (Speech & Hearing) / BASLP / B.ASLP from an institution that is recognised by RCI and considered as equivalent thereto with an average of not less than 50% of marks are eligible for admission.
  • PG Diploma in Forensic Speech Science & Technology
    • Candidates who have passed in any of the following examinations of any recognized University/institute with a minimum of pass class in the qualifying examination are eligible to apply.
      • B.Sc. with Physics/Mathematics/Electronics /Computer Science/Forensic Science/ Speech and Hearing as a major component at B.Sc. / B.ASLP level.
      • B.E /B.Tech. with Electronics/Computer Science/Communication.
      • M.B.B.S.
    • Employees working in the forensic related field in forensic laboratories would be given preference.
    • No upper age limit is applicable.
  • PG Diploma in Neuro Audiology
    • Admission is open to the candidates who have passed B.Sc. (Sp. & Hg.) / BASLP / B.ASLP or equivalent from any other recognized university.
    • Those with the above qualification, working in the electrophysiological lab or sponsored / deputed from any hospital, medical college or institution would be given an additional weightage of 2%.
    • No upper age limit is applicable.

For Master Degree Programmes

  • M.Sc. (Speech language pathology)
    • Candidates with a B.Sc. (Sp. & Hg.) / B.ASLP degree of the University of Mysore or any other University, considered as equivalent thereto with RCI recognition (except National Institutes of Importance) with an average of not less than 50% of marks are eligible for admission.
  • M.Sc. (Audiology)
    • Candidates with a B.Sc. (Sp. & Hg.) / B.ASLP degree of the University of Mysore or any other University, considered as equivalent thereto with RCI recognition (except National Institutes of Importance) with an average of not less than 50% of marks are eligible for admission.
  • M.Ed. Spl. Ed. (HI)
    • Candidates with a B.S.Ed. (Hearing Impairment) / B.Ed. Spl. Ed. (HI) degree of the University of Mysore or any B.Ed. (HI) recognized by RCI of any other University considered as equivalent thereto with an average of not less than 50% (45% for SC/ST) of marks in the qualifying examination are eligible. At the time of admission, student should produce Degree Certificate as per the University of Mysore guidelines.
    • Only those candidates who have not completed 35 years of age as on 1st July of the academic year in which admission is sought are eligible for admission. Age relaxation of up to 5 years can be considered for candidates on deputation/in-service with the approval of the University of Mysore.

For doctoral Programmes

  • Ph.D. (SLP)-JRF
    • Candidates should have passed M.Sc. (SLP) / M.Sc. (Aud) / M.Sc. (Sp. & Hg.) / MASLP / M.ASLP degree examination of the University of Mysore or any other examination considered equivalent by the University of Mysore with a minimum of 55% (50% in the case of SC/ST) marks.
    • One year work / research experience after M.Sc. (SLP) / M.Sc. (Aud) / M.Sc. (Sp. & Hg.) / MASLP / M.ASLP.
    • Candidates should have passed the entrance examination for Ph.D. conducted by University of Mysore.
  • Ph.D. (Aud) – JRF
    • Candidates should have passed M.Sc. (Aud) / M.Sc. (SLP) / M.Sc. (Sp. & Hg.) / MASLP / M.ASLP degree examination of the University of Mysore or any other examination considered equivalent by the University of Mysore with a minimum of 55% (50% in the case of SC/ST) marks.
    • One year work / research experience after M.Sc. (Aud) / M.Sc. (SLP) / M.Sc. (Sp. & Hg.) / MASLP / M.ASLP.
    • Candidates should have passed the entrance examination for Ph.D. conducted by University of Mysore.
  • Ph.D. (Speech & Hearing)
    • Candidates should have passed M.Sc. (Aud) / M.Sc. (SLP) / M.Sc. (Sp. & Hg.) / MASLP / M.ASLP degree examination of the University of Mysore or any other examination considered equivalent by the University of Mysore with a minimum of 55% (50% in the case of SC/ST/PH) marks.
    • One year work / research experience after M.Sc. (Aud) / M.Sc. (SLP) / M.Sc. (Sp. & Hg.) / MASLP / M.ASLP.
    • Candidates should have passed the entrance examination for Ph.D.in Speech and Hearing conducted by University of Mysore.
  • The Institute also offers Ph.D. programmes to external candidates (including in-service candidates) in the areas related to speech, language and hearing.
    • Candidates must have passed M.Sc. (Audiology) / M.Sc. (Speech-Language Pathology) / M.Sc. (Speech and Hearing) / MASLP / M.ASLP degree examination of the University of Mysore or any other examination considered equivalent thereto by the University of Mysore, with a minimum of 55% (50% in the case of SC/ST and candidates from SAARC countries).
    • One year work / research experience (exempted for in-service candidates) after M.Sc. (Audiology) / M.Sc. (Speech-Language Pathology) / M.Sc. (Speech and Hearing) / MASLP.

For Post doctoral programme

  • AIISH Post Doctoral Fellowship
    • Ph.D. from a recognized University in the area of speech, language, and/or hearing.
    • Research experience in any Institution supported by a certificate by the Head of the Institution is desirable.
    • At least two publications as the main author singly/jointly in indexed journals.

For Certificate Programme

  • Certificate Course for Care Givers of Children with Developmental Disabilities
    • SSLC or its equivalent from any recognized board with ability to read and write any native language.
    • Parents or caregivers of children with disabilities will be preferred.

All India Institute of Speech and Hearing (AIISH) will release the Admit Card for Entrance Examination. The direct link to download the same will be provided below for the candidates.

Exam Pattern

B.ASLP / BASLP

  • The syllabus for the entrance examination shall be CBSE (Class XI and XII). The examination will be conducted in four subjects namely, Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics. All the students except those applying under the foreign quota, will have to write the entrance examination in 3 of the 4 subjects, i.e., Physics and Chemistry as compulsory subjects and either Biology or Mathematics, which is based on the CBSE syllabus of 11th and 12th standards. In addition, the candidate who has studied Biology or Mathematics/ Computer Science/ Electronics/ Psychology would be eligible to apply for admissions to B.ASLP programme. Therefore, a candidate will take entrance examination in PCM or PCB and not in any other combinations. The examination is conducted in English.
  • The duration of each paper shall be 50 minutes with an additional 10 minutes for reading instructions and filling-up of personal details in the answer sheet. Students have to answer 50 questions of multiple choice types, each carrying one mark, on a specially designed answer sheet which will be scanned and processed on a computer. Answers are to be marked using BLACK BALL POINT PEN only.

M.Sc. (Speech-Language Pathology), M.Sc. (Audiology)

  • The duration of the examination shall be 90 minutes for M.Sc. (Speech-Language Pathology), M.Sc. (Audiology) with an additional 10 minutes for reading instructions and filling-up of personal particulars of the candidates in the answer sheet. Students appearing for both M.Sc. (Speech-Language Pathology) and M.Sc. (Audiology) shall be given 180 minutes with an additional 20 minutes for reading instructions and filling-up of personal particulars of the candidates in the answer sheet. Students appearing for both M.Sc. (Speech-Language Pathology) and M.Sc. (Audiology) have an option to take either of the exam they wish to write at 9.30 a.m.
  • Students have to answer 100 questions of multiple choice types, each carrying one mark on a OMR sheet which will be scanned and processed on a computer. Answers are to be marked using BLACK BALL POINT PEN ONLY. There is negative marking for wrong answers calculated @ -0.25 marks per wrong answer.

M.Ed. Sp. Ed. (HI)

  • The duration of the examination shall be 50 minutes with an additional 10 minutes for reading instructions and filling-up of personal particulars of the candidates in the answer sheet. 2. Students have to answer 50 questions of multiple choice types, each carrying one mark on a OMR sheet which will be scanned and processed on a computer.
  • Answers are to be marked using BLACK BALL POINT PEN ONLY. English is the medium of examination.

Exam Centres

The entrance examination will be in English. The entrance examination for the B.ASLP programme M.Sc. (Audiology) / M.Sc. (Speech-Language Pathology) will be held at the following cities:

Candidates applying for B.ASLP / BASLP / M.Sc. (Audiology) / M.Sc. (SpeechLanguage Pathology) programmes are required to indicate two examination centres of their choice as FIRST AND SECOND choice. However, in most instances, candidates will be allotted the centre of their first choice. The examination centre once allotted shall not be changed under any circumstances.
