AMRU has not announced the 2027 schedule yet, so the dates below are expected months. In 2026 the form opened on 16 July and the test was held on 2 August 2026, so 2027 is expected to follow a similar July to August pattern.

How to Apply for HP Post Basic B.Sc Nursing 2027
You apply online on the AMRU website, and the whole process from application to counselling is online. The 2027 form is expected in July 2027. In 2026 the window ran from 16 to 25 July 2026, after one extension, with corrections allowed until noon on 26 July.
Apply Online for HP Post Basic B.Sc Nursing 2027
Applications for HP Post Basic B.Sc Nursing 2027 are expected in July 2027.
- Go to amruhp.ac.in and open Admission > Apply for Admission and counseling > Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing Course.
- Register and fill in your name, father’s name and date of birth exactly as in your matriculation certificate.
- Choose your category and one exam centre. In 2026 the centres were Nagrota, Hamirpur, Mandi, Shimla and Nalagarh.
- Upload a recent photo (JPG, up to 40 KB), your signature (up to 20 KB) and your GNM passing certificate. In-service candidates must also upload the Provisional NOC-cum-Eligibility Certificate.
- Pay the fee online, then click Final Submit. Paying the fee alone does not complete the form.
- Download the PDF of the submitted form and keep a printout for counselling and admission.

These were the 2026 fees; the 2027 prospectus will confirm the new amounts. The fee is not refunded, even if you pay the wrong amount, and no changes are allowed after final submission except by filling a fresh form with a new email ID.
Who can apply for HP Post Basic B.Sc Nursing 2027?
Only female candidates can apply, and they must meet all of these conditions from the 2026 prospectus:
- 10+2 or equivalent with at least 40% aggregate marks (35% for SC, ST and OBC).
- General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) passed with at least 50% marks from a school recognised by the Indian Nursing Council or the HP Nurses Registration Council. Candidates whose GNM result is still awaited cannot sit the test.
- Registration as a Registered Nurse and Registered Midwife (RN/RM) with the HP State Nurses Registration Council by the time of admission. Himachali candidates registered in another state must transfer to the HP council within 2 months of admission.
- No upper age limit, as per the Indian Nursing Council notification of 21 August 2023.
Seats are split into in-service, direct and management quotas. In-service seats are for nursing cadre staff of the HP government, including ad hoc, contract and Rogi Kalyan Samiti staff, with at least 5 years of service on the original last date of the form. They need a Provisional NOC-cum-Eligibility Certificate from DME&R or DHS, cannot take private college seats, and sign a Rs 5 lakh bond for 5 years of service after the course.
Direct quota seats go to bonafide Himachali candidates and children of HP government employees with GNM from anywhere in India, or to candidates who did GNM in Himachal Pradesh. Management quota seats in private colleges have no domicile condition. Category and domicile certificates should be the online, digitally issued versions; offline certificates may not be accepted.
What is the HP Post Basic B.Sc Nursing 2027 exam pattern?
The test is one offline OMR paper of 100 multiple-choice questions in English, with four options each, 1 mark per question, 2 hours and no negative marking. Questions follow the GNM syllabus, 20 from each of five sections:

For government colleges you need at least 40% marks (General) or 30% (SC, ST, OBC and PwD); private colleges have no minimum. Ties are broken by section marks in the order above, then by age, with the older candidate placed first.

Two government colleges and 24 private colleges were listed in the 2026 prospectus. Government seats are split 70:30 between in-service and direct candidates, and private colleges split their seats equally between state quota and management quota.

How are HP Post Basic B.Sc Nursing seats allotted?
Seats are allotted through online counselling on merit and your choices, after the result. AMRU first shows the key answers on its website, and you can send objections with proof by email within two days or the time given in the notice.
Counselling is run by the Common Centralised Counselling Committee headed by the Director of Medical Education and Research, HP. It can have up to four rounds: round 1, round 2, mop-up and stray vacancy. You must fill and lock fresh choices in every round, and you pay Rs 10,000 as advance fee at counselling, adjusted later in the college fee.
