JAM 2021 – IISc Bangalore has released JAM 2021 Answer Keys along with Question Papers. Candidates can download it from the link below. Candidates have a option to challenge this answer keys during March 1-3, 2021 by paying a fee of ₹500 per question through the JOAPS portal. Candidates can use the answer key to calculate score. IIT JAM 2021 was held on February 14, 2021. It was conducted in two sessions, morning and afternoon. JAM is a computer-based test. JAM is held for a duration of 3 hours and 60 questions of 100 marks are asked. 3 types of questions are asked in the exam – Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs), Multiple Select Questions (MSQs), and Numerical Answer Type (NAT) questions. Admission via JAM 2021 – Apart from the IITs and the IISc, the score of JAM 2021 is used for admission to other institutes like IISER and NITs. Admission in them is done via centralised counselling called Centralized Counselling for M.Sc./M.Sc.(Tech) for NITs (CCMN). For admission in the IITs and IISc, centralised counselling and admission in offered via JAM Online Application Processing System (JOAPS).

JAM 2021 Answer Key
The answer key of JAM 2021 has released. The answer key is uploaded in PDF format and there is no login required at JOAPS to download them. The official JAM 2021 answer key is released for all 7 papers separately and has the correct answer to all questions asked in the exam. Using the answer key candidates can get an estimate of their JAM score even before the result is out.
In case a candidates finds a answer to be wrong as per them, they can challenge the answer key by logging into JOAPS. Per challenge a fee is charged, which is refunded if the corresponding challnege is accepted.
Fee for challenge: Rs. 500 per Question.
If the challenges are accepted, a final answer key is published with the freezed answers. This key is used as reference for calculation of JAM 2021 result. Final answer key cannot be challeneged further.
To calculate score using JAM 2021 answer key use the marking scheme below:
If answer is correct
- For 1 marks MCQ – add 1 marks
- For 2 marks MCQ – add 2 marks
- For 1 mark NAT – add 1 marks
- For 2 mark NAT – add 2 marks
If the answer is wrong:
- For 1 mark MCQ – deduct 1/3 marks
- For 2 marks MCQ – deduct 2/3 marks
- There is no negative marking for the NAT. So, no need to deduct marks.
JAM 2021 Result
JAM 2021 result is declared online on JOAPS portal. The following elements of JAM 2021 result is important to know:

JAM Result: The result is declared for all the candidates who appear for the exam. The result is made available under the respective login of the candidates and contains the score of the candidates in the subject paper and the category wise qualifying marks in the respective subject paper.
If a candidate scores more than the qualifying marks in the subject paper in their category, then AIR is assigned to them and the JAM scorecard is issued.
JAM Scorecard: The scorecard is the valid document that is used for admission. The candidates who pass the JAM cutoff marks have to login in JOAPS and download the scorecard. The scorecard shall have the below given details:
- Name of thee candidate
- Registration number
- AIR of JAM in the attempted subject paper
- Marks scored out of 100
- Number of candidates who appeared in the paper
- Category wise qualifying marks in the paper
- Photo and signature of the candidate
- Other instructions
JAM All India Rank (AIR): The candidates are allotted AIR in the subject paper, on the basis of their performance in the exam. The AIR indicates the rank of the candidate in their subject paper and category.
JAM Merit list: For each test paper, an All India Merit list is prepared based on AIR. The number of candidates included in the All India Merit List will depend on the total number of seats available in each category (OBC-NCL, EWS, SC, ST, and PwD) in a given subject. The students who get place in the merit list are eligible for admission in the IITs and IISc.
JAM 2021 Cutoff Marks
Cutoff is the minimum marks needed to be able to pass JAM 2021. JAM 2021 cutoff is declared with the result, thus for reference here is JAM cutoff marks from last year:
JAM 2021 Admission Process
The candidaes whose name appear in JAM 2021 merit list have to follow the below given process next:
Step 1: First, check your name in the JAM merit list.
Step 2: If your name is included in it, then apply online only using the prescribed Admission Form available at JOAPS website, irrespective of IITs where the admission is sought.
Step 3: To access the admission form login at JOAPS, using the login credential received at the time of JAM registration.
Step 4: In the admission form the candidates have to enter all the programmes at IITs, in order of preferences, where the candidate is seeking admission.
Step 5: To submit the form the candidates are then needed to make the payment of the admission fee.
Step 6: Check the admission Lists for each programme under JAM 2021 which are prepared by the Organizing Institute and are announced on the JAM 2021 website.
Step 7: The admission lists are announced until the seats are filled in the respective courses in the IITs. 3 admission lists are released.
Step 8: If a candidate’s name appears in any of the admission lists then the candidate is intimated of the same via an offer letter.
Step 9: The candidates intimated about the allotment have to submit the acceptance form online at JOAPS with online fee payment.
JAM 2021 Admit Card
The candidates can download JAM 2021 admit card from joaps.iisc.ac.in. To download the admit card, the candidates have to enter the details like enrolment number / email id and password. Note that the admit card is not released via post. On the day of the examination, it is important to carry the printed copy of the admit card.
Along with the admit card, the candidates have to carry a valid photo id proof. Details like exam date, session, exam timings, address of the exam centre is mentioned on the admit card. The candidates are required to preserve the admit card until the end of the admission process.

Until 2019, Biological Sciences (BL) was one of the subject paper in JAM, but it has been discontinued since 2020.
JAM 2021 Exam Pattern
The exam pattern of JAM is the same for all the 6 subject papers in terms of the following:
- Mode: The exam is an online test (Computer-Based Test)
- Number of questions: The total number of questions asked in the exam is 60
- Time Duration: Candidates are given 3 hours to complete the full test
- Maximum Marks: The total marks in the exam is 100
The distribution of questions in each of the 6 JAM papers are as follows:

The candidates are required to select the answer for MCQ and MSQ type questions using the mouse. The answer for NAT questions can be entered using a virtual numeric keypad (the keyboard of the computer is disabled).
Marking scheme of the exam is:
- There is no negative marking in sections B and C.
- In section A, for attempting the wrong answer of 1 marks, 1/3 marks are deducted and for wrong 2 marks answer 2/3 marks is deducted.

JAM 2021 Application Form Correction
All registered candidates are given a one time opportunity to correct any mistake in the submitted online JAM form. To access the form correction window candidates gave to login using their email id / enrolment number and password at JOAPS.

Fee for correction: A correction fee is applicable for making changes in the details above. The fee for change is to be paid using online modes like net banking / credit / debit card.
What is JOAPS?
JOAPS is a dedicated portal for the aspirants of JAM. It provides an online interface to the candidate to interact with the JAM administration. With this interface, a candidate can:
1. Apply for the examination online.
2. Check the status of the application form
3. Download the admit card
4. View answer key
5. Challenge answer keys
6. Check JAM result and download scorecard
7. Participate in the JAM admission process
JAM 2021 Application Form
The conducting body of JAM releases the application form of JAM in the online mode only. There is no offline facility available to apply for the test. The candidates have to complete the entire application process at JAM Online Application Processing System (JOAPS).
The steps to apply for JAM are:
Step 1: A candidate has to first register on JOAPS website, by providing his/her name, a valid E-mail address, a working mobile number and a password.
Step 2: Upon successful registration, an E-mail containing the candidate’s enrolment ID is sent to the E-mail address provided by the candidate. Use it and the password to login to JOAPS.
Step 3: Fill the application form.
Step 4: Upload all the scanned images needed.
Step 5: Pay the application fee.
Step 6: Print the application form and keep it safe for reference.

JAM 2021 Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible to apply for JAM 2021, the candidates must fulfil the following criteria:
- Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree
- Should posses the minimum qualifying marks in aggregate in UG as given in the table below:
