NCET 2027 is the National Common Entrance Test that NTA conducts for NCTE for admission to the 4-year Integrated Teacher Education Programme (ITEP) at IITs, NITs, NCERT’s Regional Institutes of Education (RIEs), universities and government colleges. Dates are not announced yet. Based on 2026, the form is expected in February 2027 and the exam in April 2027.

NCET 2027 Important Dates
NTA has not released the NCET 2027 schedule yet, so the 2027 dates below are expected months based on the 2026 cycle, when the exam was held on 17 and 18 April 2026.

How to Apply for NCET 2027
You apply for NCET 2027 online at exams.nta.nic.in/ncet once NTA publishes the public notice and information bulletin. The 2026 form was open from 12 February to 10 March 2026, so the 2027 form is expected in February to March 2027. There is no offline form, and you may submit only one application.
Apply Online for NCET 2027
Applications for NCET 2027 are expected in February 2027.
- Go to exams.nta.nic.in/ncet and read the information bulletin, along with the prospectus of the ITEP colleges you want.
- Register with your own or a parent’s mobile number and email ID, and note the application number.
- Log in and fill in your personal and Class 12 details, the universities and ITEP programmes you want, and your test papers (two languages and three domain subjects).
- Choose the question paper medium and up to four exam cities. Cities are offered only in the state of your permanent or present address.
- Upload a live photograph, a scanned photograph and your signature, plus a disability or UDID certificate if it applies.
- Pay the fee online by debit card, credit card, net banking or UPI.
- Download the confirmation page and keep a printout.

Bank processing charges and GST are extra. After the last date, NTA opens a short correction window; in 2026 it ran from 12 to 14 March 2026.
Who can apply for NCET 2027?
You can apply for NCET 2027 if you have passed Class 12 or an equivalent exam, or are appearing in it in 2027. NTA sets no age limit for the test.
- Qualifying exam: Class 12 from a recognised central or state board, a two-year intermediate or pre-university course, NIOS senior secondary with at least five subjects, the HSC vocational exam, or a foreign or other board exam that AIU accepts as equivalent.
- Age: no upper or lower limit for NCET, but a college may apply its own age rule for admission.
- Subjects, minimum marks and reservation are set by each university or institute, so check the ITEP programme you want before you choose your test papers.
- Passing NCET alone does not give you a seat; you must also meet the programme-wise conditions of the college.
What is the NCET 2027 exam pattern?
NCET is a 3-hour computer-based test with 181 multiple-choice questions, of which you attempt 160. Each correct answer gets 4 marks and each wrong answer loses 1 mark, so the maximum is 640. The table shows the 2026 pattern, the latest official one.

The paper is offered in 13 mediums, including English, Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu and Urdu. If the exam runs in several shifts, NTA converts raw marks into NTA scores. You can practise with the NCET previous year question papers.
Which colleges admit students through NCET?
NCET scores are used by every NCTE-recognised institute that offers the 4-year ITEP, a dual-major B.A. B.Ed., B.Sc. B.Ed. or B.Com. B.Ed. degree. For 2026-27 the bulletin listed 223 institutions with about 17,000 seats, and the list may grow.
- Central and state universities, such as Jamia Millia Islamia and Central Sanskrit University campuses.
- IITs and NITs that run ITEP, such as Dr. B.R. Ambedkar NIT Jalandhar.
- NCERT’s Regional Institutes of Education (RIEs) at Ajmer, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Mysuru and Shillong (NERIE). Their 4-year B.A. B.Ed. and B.Sc. B.Ed. seats now run as ITEP and are filled through NCET, not RIE CEE.
- Government colleges and other institutes recognised by NCTE for ITEP.
Each ITEP student specialises in one school stage: Foundational (pre-school to Class 2), Preparatory (Classes 3 to 5), Middle (Classes 6 to 8) or Secondary (Classes 9 to 12).
