What is the NCET Entrance Exam?

The NCET stands for National Common Entrance Test. Conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) on behalf of NCTE, it is the National level Education entrance exam for admission to the 4-Year Integrated Teacher Education Programme (ITEP) – an integrated B.A. B.Ed. / B.Sc. B.Ed. / B.Com. B.Ed. degree offered at Central Universities, State Universities, IITs, NITs, Regional Institutes of Education (RIEs), and other Government Colleges for the 2026-27 academic session. In 2026, around 73,608 candidates appeared for NCET to compete for ITEP seats at participating institutions.

NCET 2026 Result and Scorecard

The NCET 2026 result was declared by NTA on 4 June 2026 at exams.nta.ac.in/NCET. NCET 2026 ITEP Admission & Counselling

NTA does not conduct counselling for NCET. Instead, individual participating institutions hold their own ITEP admission rounds based on the NCET score. Key points about the admission process are as follows:

  • Admission to the 4-Year Integrated Teacher Education Programme (ITEP) is based on your NCET 2026 NTA score.
  • Each participating university or institute (Central, State, IITs, NITs, RIEs, Government Colleges) releases its own merit list, cut-off, and admission schedule.
  • Shortlisted candidates must complete document verification and fee payment at the allotted institution within the institution-wise window in June–July 2026.
  • Check the website of your preferred ITEP institution along with exams.nta.ac.in/NCET for admission notices.

NCET Exam Pattern

Understanding the test structure of the National Common Entrance Test helps you interpret your score. The key features of the NCET exam pattern are as follows:

  • Mode: Computer-Based Test (CBT).
  • Duration: The 2026 test was conducted over two days (17 and 18 April 2026).
  • Papers: Candidates attempted subject-specific sections based on their stream (Science, Commerce, Humanities) along with language and general/teaching aptitude sections.
  • Marking: Each correct answer is awarded marks, with negative marking of –1 for every incorrect answer.
