National School of Drama(NSD) is a theatre training institute situated at New Delhi, India. It is an autonomous organization under Ministry of Culture, Government of India. It was set up in 1959 by the Sangeet Natak Akademi and became an independent school in 1975. In 2005 it was granted deemed university status, but in 2011 it was revoked on the institute’s request. National School of Drama released a notification regarding admissions in three-year diploma course in dramatic arts. The course will commence from July 16, 2018. The selection process is divided into two phase. The first phase will consist of a preliminary examination and candidates who will clear the preliminary phase will be called for final examination workshop. NSD Admission 2018

The online application forms for National School of Drama in three-year diploma course in dramatic arts have been closed. The course will commence from July 16, 2018, after the completion of both preliminary and the final rounds of selection. The schedule for the preliminary test is given in the table below.

The application form for three-year diploma course in dramatic arts in NSD has been closed now. Candidates can check the application form by entering username and password. The dates of preliminary examination have been released. The candidates who will clear the preliminary examination will be called for final workshop round. How to Apply

The applicants can choose any one option listed below:

  • Application form can be filled up online and submitted to school website http://www.onlineadmission.nsd.gov.in from March 16, 2018. The form, necessary documents may also be submitted online, Fee Rs 50/- is to be paid for filling the form online. The last date to fill up online form is April 16, 2018.
  • Application form can also be downloaded from the school website www.nsd.gov.in from March 16, 2018. The downloaded application form must be sent along with Demand Draft of Rs 150/- in favour of The Director, National School Of Drama, New Delhi in an envelope titled “Application for Admission-2018-21”. Form sent in envelopes without DD/Pay Order
    will not be entertained.
  • Application form & prospectus will also be available from the Book Shop of the National School of Drama from March 16 to April 16, 2018 on cash payment of Rs. 150/- between 10.00 am to 1.00 pm & 2.00 pm to 5.00 pm on working days.
  • To receive the application form and prospectus (in English & Hindi) by post, please write to The Dean, Academic, National School of Drama, Bahawalpur House, Bhagwandas Road, New Delhi – 110001 along with a crossed Demand Draft/Pay Order, payable at Delhi, of Rs. 225/- (Rupees two hundred twenty-five only) including postal charges in favour of The Director, National School of Drama, New Delhi. Request for receiving the application form by post must reach the school by March 28, 2018.

Eligibility criteria

The eligibility criteria for three-year diploma course in dramatic arts in NSD is given below. Candidates are advised to check the eligibility criteria thoroughly before applying for the NSD 2018 Admissions.

Essential Qualifications

  • Graduation in any subject from a recognized University in India or Abroad.
  • Participation in at least 6 theatre productions.
  • Working knowledge of Hindi / English.

Desirable Qualifications

  • 3 recommendations from theatre Experts.
  • Documentary proof of the theatre experience.

Age Limit

Minimum 18 years Maximum 30 years(as on July 01, 2018).The upper age limit is relaxable for reserved category candidates as per GOI rules(5 years for SC / ST).

Selection Procedure

The selection is a two-phase process. The candidate should appear for a preliminary examination and if selected then has to appear for a final examination workshop.

Reservation

Out of 26 seats, 4 seats are reserved for candidates belonging to the scheduled castes; 2 seats are reserved for scheduled tribes; 7 seats are reserved for OBC (Non-Creamy Layer as notified by the Government) and reservation for PWD, as per Govt. of India rules.
