Online registration for 2027-28 is expected between April and June 2027 on the Common Admission Portal.

Is VOCLET 2027 being held?
No. Since the 2024-25 session, admission to the 2nd year of polytechnic diploma courses in West Bengal is made on a merit list prepared from the marks of your qualifying exam, with no written test. The Technical Education, Training & Skill Development (TET&SD) Department’s notification of 12 March 2026 confirmed merit-based admission for 2026-27 through the Common Admission Portal.
The last written VOCLET was held in June 2023. You can still see its paper on the VOCLET previous year papers page, but you do not need to prepare for any entrance test now.

How to Apply for VOCLET 2027 (polytechnic 2nd Year Admission)
You apply online only, on the Common Admission Portal of the TET&SD Department, which handles admission to both polytechnics and ITIs. The same portal is used for registration, fee payment, merit list, choice filling and seat allotment.
Apply Online for VOCLET 2027
Applications for VOCLET 2027 are expected in April 2027.
- Open admission-tetsd.wb.gov.in once the 2027-28 registration starts.
- Register with your basic details and choose admission to the 2nd year of polytechnic (lateral entry).
- Enter your Class 12 (or ITI) marks and upload the documents the portal asks for.
- Pay the application fee online by net banking, debit card, credit card or UPI.
- Submit the form and download a copy of the filled-in application for your records.

These are the 2026-27 fees. The brochure warns that details cannot be changed after submission, and wrong information can cancel your admission at any stage, so check your marks and category before you pay.
Who can apply for VOCLET 2027 lateral entry?
You can apply for the 2nd year if you meet any one of these qualifications in the 2026-27 notification. Candidates appearing in Class 12 may also apply, but the 2025-26 brochure barred candidates still appearing in ITI.
- Higher Secondary (10+2) or equivalent with any one of Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry, Computer Science, Electronics, Information Technology, Biology, Informatics Practices, Biotechnology, a Technical Vocational subject, Agriculture, Engineering Graphics, Business Studies or Entrepreneurship.
- Higher Secondary (Vocational) of WBSCT&VE&SD.
- Class 10 plus a 2-year ITI course done continuously, in the annual or semester system.
There is no age limit for 2nd-year admission. You must be an Indian citizen, and you need a West Bengal domicile certificate in the prescribed form at the time of admission.
How is the VOCLET 2027 merit list prepared?
Your rank comes only from your qualifying exam marks. For Class 12 candidates the 2026-27 rules give equal weight to your overall marks and your science and maths marks.

Seats are filled through online counselling rounds after the VOCLET 2027 merit list. A rank does not guarantee a seat; your eligibility is checked again when you report to the polytechnic.
Which subjects count for the VOCLET 2027 merit list?
For Class 12 candidates, the subjects that matter most are Mathematics, Physics or Biology, and Chemistry.

You need at least one subject from the approved list to be eligible. The list and the other routes (HS Vocational, ITI) are on the VOCLET 2027 main page.
How to Calculate Your VOCLET 2027 Merit Score
Use your Class 12 marksheet and the weightage in the 2026-27 notification. The council has not published an exact formula beyond this, so treat your result as an estimate.
- Work out your total percentage in Class 12.
- Add your marks in Mathematics, Physics (or Biology) and Chemistry and turn them into a percentage of their full marks.
- Take half of the first figure and half of the second, and add them.
- Compare the result with friends applying in the same year; your actual rank appears only in the official merit list.
For example, 70% overall and 80% in the three subjects gives an estimate of 75. If two candidates tie, the one with higher subject marks ranks first, then the one born earlier.
What documents should you carry for VOCLET 2027 admission?
- Seat allotment letter and a copy of your submitted application form
- Class 12, HS (Vocational) or ITI marksheet and pass certificate, plus your Class 10 certificate
- West Bengal domicile certificate in the prescribed form (Proforma A, B or C), in original
- Caste or disability certificate in original from a West Bengal authority, if you claim a reserved seat
- Medical fitness certificate signed by a registered medical practitioner with seal and registration number
- Kanyashree ID card in original, if you claim the fee concession
You must take admission by the date in your allotment letter. If you miss it, the brochure says the seat goes to another candidate.
How to Check the VOCLET 2027 Merit List
- Open admission-tetsd.wb.gov.in after the merit list date is announced.
- Log in with the details you used to register.
- Open the merit list or rank section to see your rank for 2nd-year polytechnic admission.
- Fill your choices of polytechnic and discipline in the choice filling window.
- Check the allotment result and download your allotment letter.
Earlier VOCLET merit lists were published as one consolidated PDF; the council did not send results to candidates individually. Keep checking the portal yourself.
How are VOCLET 2027 seats reserved?
Seats in government and government-sponsored polytechnics are reserved by category, and district and female quotas apply across categories.

Unfilled district quota seats become general seats after the second counselling, and unfilled EWS seats after the third. Women’s Polytechnics in Kolkata and Chandannagar admit only female candidates.
What happens after the VOCLET 2027 merit list?
Seats are filled in online counselling phases. The 2025 schedule had this order:

In 2026, a spot round for leftover seats had its allotment on 30 September 2026, as reported in the news. The 2026-27 notification also lets institutes run mop-up and spot counselling. After admission, you must register with the council by the notified date, or your admission is cancelled.
Which courses can you join through VOCLET lateral entry?
You join the 2nd year of a 3-year Diploma in Engineering & Technology, so the course takes 2 more years. The 2025-26 2nd-year brochure lists 42 disciplines, including Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Computer Science & Technology, Electronics & Telecommunication and Modern Office Practice & Management.
Lateral entry seats are up to 10% of each course’s approved intake, over and above it, plus seats left vacant in the 1st year. There is no management quota for lateral entry.
