West Bengal ITI Admission 2027 is the online, merit-based admission to trades in West Bengal ITIs, run by the West Bengal State Council for Vocational Training (WBSCVT) on the Common Admission Portal. There is no entrance exam: ranks come from Class 8 (E Group) or Class 10 (M Group) marks. Applications are expected between April and June 2027.

Is there an entrance exam for WB ITI admission 2027?
No. Seats in West Bengal ITIs are filled on merit, using the marks of your qualifying exam. The TET&SD Department’s notification of 12 March 2026 says admission to ITIs and polytechnics is based on marks obtained in the qualifying examination, with registration only on the Common Admission Portal.
There are two groups with separate merit lists. E Group trades take Class 8 pass candidates, and M Group trades take Madhyamik or Class 10 pass candidates. Each list gives a General rank, a caste rank and, where it applies, a physically challenged rank.

WB ITI Admission 2027 Important Dates
The 2027-28 schedule is not announced yet. In 2026 the guidelines came out on 12 March and the merit list on 25 July 2026, so the 2027 application is expected between April and June 2027.

How to Apply for WB ITI Admission 2027
You apply online only, on the Common Admission Portal of the TET&SD Department. The same portal handles ITI and polytechnic admission, and you use it for the form, the fee, your merit rank, choice filling and the allotment letter.
Apply Online for WB ITI 2027
Applications for WB ITI 2027 are expected in April 2027.
- Open the Common Admission Portal (admission-tetsd.wb.gov.in) once the 2027-28 application starts.
- Register with your mobile number. The portal logs you in with your registered mobile number and an OTP.
- Choose the ITI E Group application (Class 8 based) or the ITI M Group application (Class 10 based), and fill in your personal, category and qualifying-exam details.
- Enter your marks carefully, including Mathematics and Physical Science if you passed Class 10. They decide your rank.
- Pay the application fee online and submit the form. Keep a copy of the submitted application.

All fees are collected online only; there is no cash payment. In 2026 OBC candidates could correct their category on the portal until 30 June 2026, because OBC non-creamy layer status is checked at final admission.
Who can apply for WB ITI admission 2027?
You can apply if you have passed, or are appearing in, Class 8 (for E Group) or Madhyamik or Class 10 (for M Group) from a school situated in West Bengal. These are the rules in the 2026-27 notification.

If you do not have Mathematics and Physical Science, you are eligible only for non-engineering trades. The 2027-28 notice will give the new age cut-off date.
How is the WB ITI 2027 merit list prepared?
Your rank comes from your qualifying-exam marks in percentage. For admissions where Class 10 is the minimum qualification, the 2026-27 rules give equal weight to your overall marks and your subject marks.

The merit list does not guarantee a seat. Your seat depends on your rank, your category and the ITIs and trades you choose at the choice-filling stage.
How to Check the WB ITI Merit List and Seat Allotment
West Bengal publishes one merit list for E Group and one for M Group on the Common Admission Portal, followed by online choice filling and seat allotment. The 2026 list came out on 25 July 2026, as reported in the news.
- Open the Common Admission Portal and log in with your registered mobile number and OTP.
- Open the merit list or rank section and note your General rank and your caste or physically challenged rank, if any.
- Fill and lock your choices of ITI and trade in order of preference during the choice-filling window.
- Check the allotment result and download your allotment letter. It names your group, ITI, trade and the last date to report.
- Report at the allotted ITI with your original documents before the deadline on the letter, or the seat is treated as vacant.
OBC ranks are provisional. If you cannot show a valid OBC certificate at admission, you are treated as General category.
How do WB ITI counselling and spot rounds work?
After the main online rounds, vacant seats are filled through spot rounds. The 2026-27 notification says mop-up and spot counselling are decentralised to the institutes, with a separate notice for each.
- In 2026 the portal published provisional spot merit lists, and spot-round candidates reported to their allotted ITI from 30 September to 1 October 2026, till 5:30 PM.
- Management quota and IMC (Institute Management Committee) quota admission opens from the date of admission through the portal.
- A helpdesk and verification desk works at every ITI from the start of admission until it closes.
How are WB ITI seats reserved?
Half the seats go to a district quota, and category and special quotas apply across the state, as set out in the 2026-27 notification.

Reserved-category certificates must be in your own name and issued by a competent authority of the Government of West Bengal.
Which ITIs and trades are available in West Bengal?
WBSCVT lists 53 Government ITIs, 115 Government ITIs run under PPP and 150 private ITIs. The official list of 2-year trades puts all of them in M Group, so they need Class 10; E Group trades take Class 8 pass candidates.

What fees and documents do you need at a WB Government ITI?
On a Government quota seat in a Government ITI or a Government ITI run under PTP, you pay Rs 410 at admission. Private ITI and IMC seats cost much more.

- Allotment letter and proof of age (for M Group, the Madhyamik admit card)
- Class 8 marksheet and pass certificate (E Group) or Madhyamik / Class 10 marksheet and certificate (M Group), original and self-attested copy
- EWS, SC, ST, OBC or PH certificate issued by the Government of West Bengal, if you claim a reserved seat
- Original Aadhaar card and two recent colour passport-size photographs
- Vocational or PBSSD pass certificate, if applicable
- Medical certificate in the prescribed format
Your seat is provisional until the ITI verifies these documents. Any discrepancy found at any stage cancels the candidature.
