AIFD Admission 2027 is the 2027-28 intake of the Army Institute of Fashion & Design, Bengaluru, an AWES institute affiliated to Bengaluru North University. There is no entrance test. Applicants pay a Rs 1,000 registration fee, attend an online interview and are ranked on Class 10 and 12 marks. The merit list is expected around May 2027.

Is there an entrance exam for AIFD admission 2027?
No. AIFD no longer holds a written test such as the old WAT. Every applicant, Defence ward or civilian, pays a Rs 1,000 registration fee and attends an online interview with general knowledge and personal questions. Selection is then based on a weightage of your Class 10 and Class 12 marks.
Because there is no written test, AIFD issues no admit card and no question paper. Older guides that describe a 100-question WAT, a hall ticket or WAT sample papers refer to a process the current prospectus does not include.
Seats are open to all Defence wards and civilians as per AIFD’s seat matrix. The process and the merit list are the same for both; only some fees differ.

AIFD has not announced 2027-28 dates yet. The table below follows its prospectus schedule, which lists online interviews commencing December 2026, Class 12 marksheet upload by mid-May, the merit list at the end of May and classes from July.

How to Apply for AIFD Admission 2027
You apply directly to AIFD. Use the Apply Now link on aifd.edu.in, which opens the AIFD admission portal, or download the 2027-28 application form, fill it by hand and email a scanned copy with your documents to [email protected]. Class 12 students can apply before their board result.
Apply Online for AIFD 2027
The AIFD 2027 application dates have not been announced yet.
- Read the AIFD prospectus and choose your programme: B.Sc Fashion & Apparel Design, BVA or a PG Diploma.
- Fill in the online application on the AIFD admission portal, or fill in the 2027-28 form by hand and scan it.
- Attach your Class 10 certificate, Class 11 progress report, Class 12 marksheet (or mark it as appearing), medical fitness certificate, willingness certificate, declaration and caste certificate if any. Defence wards also attach Certificate 1, 2 or 3.
- Pay the Rs 1,000 registration fee by NEFT/RTGS to the AIFD account shown on the official admissions page, then email the receipt with the transaction ID to [email protected].
- Attend the online interview (general knowledge and personal interview) when AIFD calls you.
- If you get a provisional offer, pay the Rs 15,000 provisional admission fee within 7 days and upload your Class 12 marksheet within 7 days of your board result.

The prospectus says the Rs 15,000 provisional fee is refunded if you do not make the merit list, after the admission process closes. Civilians pay Rs 20,000 a year as campus development fee against Rs 5,000 for Defence wards. These are 2026-27 fees; AIFD may revise them for 2027-28.
Who can apply for AIFD admission 2027?
You can apply if you have passed or are appearing in Class 12 in any stream, with at least 50% aggregate.
- Undergraduate: 10+2 pass or appearing in any stream, or a 3-year diploma equivalent to 10+2, with a minimum of 50% aggregate from a recognised board or institute.
- PG Diplomas: a graduation degree; attach your graduation marks sheet.
- Category: open to all Defence wards and civilians, as per the seat matrix.
- Identity: your name must match on your Class 10 and Class 12 marks cards and your Aadhaar card, which must be linked to your own mobile number for university registration.
Which courses can you join at AIFD Bengaluru?
AIFD offers two undergraduate degrees and three PG Diplomas from the 2026 academic year, all under Bengaluru North University.

The AIFD website still lists a Bachelor of Interior Design & Decoration, but the 2026-27 prospectus names only B.Sc FAD and BVA as undergraduate programmes, with interior design as a PG Diploma. Check with AIFD before you apply for interior design. The website also lists 1-year certificate courses such as Visual Merchandising and Fashion Retail Management.
How does AIFD prepare the merit list?
AIFD ranks candidates by a selection weightage of their Class 10 and Class 12 marks and publishes the list as a PDF on aifd.edu.in. On the 2026 first lists, the last B.Sc FAD candidate had 62.92% and the last BVA candidate 63.92%; see the AIFD merit list and cut off page for details.
Candidates on the list get an offer letter, pay the first instalment and report on the date given in the list. In 2026 the first instalment of Rs 50,000 was due by 5 June and reporting was on 11 June 2026.
What documents do you need when you join AIFD?
You must bring original documents on the day of admission, and they must not be laminated, because Bengaluru North University rejects laminated originals.
- Class 10, Class 11 and Class 12 original marks cards
- DigiLocker copy of the Class 12 marks card and of the migration certificate (mandatory)
- Class 12 transfer certificate, migration certificate and character certificate
- Graduation marks card (PG Diploma only)
- Caste certificate and parent’s income certificate, if applicable
- Certificate 1 for Army wards
AIFD keeps your marks cards until the university approves your admission. If your originals are held by another college, you can join on attested copies but must deposit the originals within 15 days.
