What does each part of AP LAWCET test?
Each part checks a different skill, and Part C carries half the marks.
- Part A, General Knowledge and Mental Ability (30 questions): general awareness and reasoning.
- Part B, Current Affairs (30 questions): recent national and international events.
- Part C, Aptitude for the Study of Law (60 questions): the booklet assumes elementary knowledge of the basic principles of law and the Constitution of India.
- Questions are objective: multiple choice and match the following, each with four options.
- The 5-year LL.B. paper expects Intermediate (10+2) standard and the 3-year LL.B. paper expects degree standard.

How should I prepare for AP LAWCET 2027?
Spend the most time on Part C, since it carries 60 of the 120 marks, and keep current affairs reading going every day for Part B.
- Read the Constitution of India basics: fundamental rights, directive principles, the structure of government and important amendments.
- Learn common legal terms and maxims, and practise applying a given legal principle to a set of facts.
- Follow a daily newspaper and a monthly current affairs summary for the year before the exam.
- Practise reasoning questions such as series, coding-decoding and blood relations for Part A.
- Solve past papers in timed 90-minute sittings. Since there is no negative marking, answer every question.
