DME Assam has not yet released the Round 1 schedule for session 2026; its notice says the rounds will follow the MCC schedule, under which state Round 1 runs from 21 October to 2 November 2026.

Which seats are filled through Assam NEET PG counselling?
DME Assam fills 50% of the MD, MS and PG Diploma seats in the Government medical colleges of Assam and Dr. B. Borooah Cancer Institute (B.B.C.I.), Guwahati under the Assam State Quota. The other 50% are All India Quota seats, filled through MCC NEET PG counselling, which needs a separate registration.

What is the Assam NEET PG 2026 provisional merit list?
The provisional merit list is the state list of NEET PG 2026 candidates for Assam State Quota seats, prepared from data sent by the National Board of Examinations. DME Assam has published it as a merit list PDF with 3,583 names; only candidates whose name and NEET PG 2026 roll number are on it can join the online counselling.
If you are eligible but your name is missing, apply on plain paper with supporting documents at the DME office (2nd floor, Room No. 5, Sixmile, Khanapara, Guwahati) by hand by 16 October 2026. Applications by post or e-mail are not accepted. Candidates who want to change their category must apply the same way by 12 noon on 16 October 2026.
How do additional marks for remote-area service work?
Doctors who served for at least one continuous year in a notified remote and difficult area under the Health Department, NHM or a Government body get 3% of their NEET PG marks for each year of such service, up to 9% for three years or more, counted up to 31 May of the session.
- Notified areas: the hill districts of North Cachar Hills (Dima Hasao) and Karbi Anglong, Dhemaji district, Sadia sub-division, Majuli district, Dhakuakhana sub-division and South Salmara district, excluding their headquarters.
- Total marks after adding the incentive cannot exceed the total marks of NEET PG.
- Submit the prescribed form with Appendix-II signed by the authority, your appointment letter, service period and NEET-PG 2026 roll number, marks and All India Rank.
- For session 2026, the claim must reach the DME office by hand by 15 October 2026.
How to apply for Assam NEET PG Counselling 2026?
You register online on the DME Assam website dme.assam.gov.in when the link for a round is activated. For session 2026 the registration link has not opened yet, and the round dates will be announced in an educational notice.
Apply Online for Assam NEET PG Counselling 2026
Applications for Assam NEET PG Counselling 2026 are expected in October 2026.
- Check that your name and NEET PG 2026 roll number are on the provisional state merit list.
- Read the round notice on the DME admission notices page when it is released.
- Register online during the registration window. In 2025, candidates who registered for Round 1 did not need to register again for Round 2.
- Fill your choices of college and subject, then lock them in the given window. Choices not locked by you are locked automatically at the end.
- Check the college-wise and subject-wise provisional select list published after seat allotment.
- If selected, report to the Principal of the allotted college on the reporting dates with all original documents and the admission and counselling fees.
DME Assam’s PG notices that we checked do not state the fee amounts, so we have not listed them. Fees are paid at the college at the time of admission.
Who can apply for Assam NEET PG Counselling 2026?
You can take part if you are eligible under the Medical Colleges of Assam (Regulation of Admission into Post Graduate Degree and Diploma Courses) Rules, 2021 (as amended) and meet these conditions:
- You appeared in NEET PG 2026 and scored at or above the cut off declared by NBEMS.
- Your name and NEET PG 2026 roll number are on the DME Assam provisional state merit list.
- You meet the eligibility conditions of the Assam PG admission rules; read the rules before you register.
- In 2025, candidates who had joined a seat up to Round 3 of AIQ or state quota could not take part in the state stray round.
- If you already took an AIQ seat, you must bring the resignation or surrender acceptance letter from that college to take a state quota seat.
How do rounds, admission and the bond work?
Seats are allotted in up to four online rounds on merit and the choices you lock: Round 1, Round 2, Round 3 and a stray round for seats still vacant.
- After each round, DME publishes a college-wise and subject-wise provisional select list with the reporting dates.
- If you do not report to the allotted college on those dates, your allotment is cancelled.
- In later rounds, a candidate can get a fresh allotment or a change of college; re-allotted candidates bring proof of the documents deposited at the earlier college.
- All admissions are provisional until the college checks eligibility and documents.
- After admission, every candidate, including State Health Services Quota candidates, must sign a registered agreement on a Rs 100 non-judicial stamp paper within 2 weeks, as per the PG admission rules.
