CMC Vellore PG Nursing Admission 2018

CMC is the home of the South Asian Cochrane Network and Center and is also an internationally recognized Infectious Diseases Training and Research Center. Application Form

Application forms can be accessed only online through the Christian Medical College official website www.admissions.cmcvellore.ac.in or from the above mentioned link on before the prescribed date. Duly filled application forms must be submitted online with the basic administrative fee and registration fee for each specialty for the course applied before the last date as mention above in table.

Eligibility Criteria

M.Sc. Nursing

  1. Passed the qualification of B.Sc. Nursing / B.Sc. (Honors) in Nursing / Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing by The Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University, Chennai or any other University accepted as equivalent there to with minimum of 55 % aggregate marks.
  2. Registered with the State Registration Council for Nursing and Midwifery / alternate course approved by Indian Nursing Council for a similar duration in lieu of Midwifery. Male candidates who do not possess Midwifery registration certificate are not eligible to apply for M.Sc.(N) – Obstetrics and Gynaecological Nursing and Community Health Nursing irrespective of experience in the area.
  3. Minimum one year of experience in a hospital or in a College or in School of Nursing or in Community Health Programme from the date of registration in State Nursing Council after B.Sc. Nursing / B.Sc. (Honors) in Nursing (or) after / prior to Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing.
  4. A certificate of Medical Fitness from an authorized Medical Officer.

Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing

  1. Passed Higher Secondary / Senior Secondary / Intermediate / 10 + 2 / an equivalent examination recognized by the University / 10 + 1 in or before the year 1986.
  2. Passed the qualification of Diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery or alternate course.
  3. Permanent registration certificate with the State Registration Council for Nursing and Midwifery / alternate course approved by Indian Nursing Council
  4. A certificate of Medical Fitness from an authorized Medical Officer.

Post Basic Diploma in Nursing

  1. Passed the qualification of Diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery or alternate course / B.Sc. Nursing / B.Sc. (Honors) in Nursing / Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing
  2. Permanent registration certificate from the State Nursing Council for Nursing and Midwifery or alternate course (applicable to male candidates)
  3. Minimum one year of work experience as on 1st September 2017 in any clinical area in the hospital or in the community.
  4. A certificate of Medical Fitness from an authorized Medical Officer.

Fellowship in Nursing

  1. Passed the qualification of B.Sc. Nursing / B.Sc. (Honors) in Nursing / Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing degree of The Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University, Chennai or any other University accepted as equivalent there to.
  2. Permanent registration certificate from the State Nursing Council for Nursing and Midwifery or alternate course (applicable to male candidates)
  3. Minimum one year of work experience as on 1st September 2017 in any clinical area in the hospital or in the community.
  4. A certificate of Medical Fitness from an authorized Medical Officer.

Admit Card / Hall Ticket

The Hall Ticket is available at the Christian Medical College website admissions.cmcvellore.ac.in. One Hall Ticket will be generated per candidate even if the candidate is registered for more than one course. The hall ticket can be downloaded and printed by using application number as ID and date of birth as password through the direct link provided below.

The hall ticket needs to be checked for accuracy of its details. In case of non- availability of the hall ticket one week prior to the date of Step I of the selection process, the candidate must contact the Registrar, College of Nursing, by e-mail or telephone. Kindly mention the application number in all communications. A duplicate hall ticket will be issued or the hall ticket number and address of the examination center will be intimated.

All provisionally selected candidates who wish to accept the seat offered must give the acceptance in writing within the date and time stipulated. On failing to do so, the seat will be offered to the next candidate in the wait list as per the admission policy.

Selection Procedure

Candidates who have applied for M.Sc. Nursing / Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing / Post Basic Diploma in Nursing / Fellowship in Nursing will appear for Step I Computer Based Test (CBT). The list of candidates short listed for Step II of the Selection process (Medical Checkup and Assessment of Knowledge and Skills / Personal Interviews) will be published in the website on 11th June 2018 and also intimated to individuals by post.

Selection of candidates to any particular programme is based on the performance in the Step I and Step II of the selection process.

Weight age for selection will be given to candidates in the following areas:

  • sponsored by eligible sponsoring bodies of the CMC Vellore Association
  • best outgoing students in the Undergraduate Nursing programmes for Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing and Fellowship in Nursing programmes
  • served in areas of need

All such claims need to be supported by relevant certificates.
