GATE COAP 2018 official website is functional now. It is coap.iitm.ac.in. The tentative dates for the round of offers have also been announced. The GATE qualifiers who, have registered with any of the IITs, need to register for Common Offer Acceptance Portal (COAP) as well. Candidates are not to confuse COAP with IIT M.Tech admission registration. That has to be done via the official website of each institute. It is only a common platform for checking which IIT has offered a seat in a course, to the respective candidate. COAP GATE 2018 Eligibility Criteria
It is important for the candidates to fulfill the eligibility criteria of COAP 2018. It is as follows:
- The applicant should be a citizen of India
- Candidate must have a valid GATE 2016 or 2017 or 2018 score.
COAP GATE 2018 Registration
The candidates have to register for COAP 2018 separately. It important to register, so that the offered choice can be accepted or rejected. To register for COAP, the candidates need to click on the “Register Now” button and then follows the steps below:
COAP 2018 Offers – Accept, Retain, Withdraw and Process
Once login, the candidates will be able to access information on offers made from the participating institutes. All the offers will be uploaded online and will be tagged with COAP Registration Number.
- The COAP Registration Number will be the same as GATE Registration Number, without the subject code.
The process for COAP Admission Offers is as follows:
First Step – To start with, candidates will have multiple offers and they need to select the most preferred one. The candidates can either Accept an offer or Retain it or Reject it.
- Accept / Freeze an offer means that you are satisfied with it and would like to take admission in this only.
- Retain and Wait means that you accept the offer but would also like to consider higher choices as well.
- Reject and Wait is also an option and it indicates that you reject all the offers in this round but would like to try your luck in next rounds.
Second Step – If the candidate opts the Accept option, then they need to visit the official website of the institute and finish the admission formalities.
However, if a candidate opts for Retain and Wait option, then they need to wait for the next round of COAP.
Candidates who don’t wish to choose any of the offers are required to select the Reject and Wait option. Then, the candidate needs to visit the COAP 2018 in next round.
- It should be noted that if none of the three options is chosen then the system will automatically consider it as Reject and Wait.

Q. I have applied for IIT. Do I need to apply for COAP again?
A. Yes, every candidate needs to apply separately for COAP.
Q. I have GATE score but I a foreign student. Can I register for COAP?
A. Only the Indian citizens can apply for COAP.
Q. Can I apply for PSU jobs via COAP and which PSUs participate in it?
A. Candidates cannot apply for IIT or PSU via COAP. Only the offered seat or job will be announced via it. If any PSU will participate in COAP GATE 2018 or not, will be announced soon.
Q. I have multiple GATE score in the same subject paper. Through which one should I apply?
A. Apply with the highest score. It should be noted that the GATE score should be of last three years only.
Q. I possess GATE score for multiple subjects. Can I use all the scores?
A. Yes, you may but you do not have to register for it again. Simply choose the “Additional GATE Score” option during registration and submit multiple choices.
