HP NEET Counselling 2026 is the state counselling for MBBS and BDS seats in Himachal Pradesh, run by Atal Medical and Research University (AMRU), Ner Chowk, Mandi, on NEET UG 2026 merit. It fills state quota seats in government colleges and all seats in private colleges. Rounds 1 and 2 are over, and Round 3 allocation is awaited.

HP NEET Counselling 2026 Important Dates
Rounds 1 and 2 are over. Round 3 choice filling closed at 11:00 AM on 8 October 2026 after an extension, and AMRU has not yet announced the revised date of the Round 3 seat allocation or joining. A stray vacancy round will follow if seats remain.

Which seats are filled through HP NEET counselling?
AMRU fills the 85% state quota seats of the government medical and dental colleges and all seats of the private colleges in Himachal Pradesh. The 15% All India Quota seats of government colleges are filled by MCC.

How many MBBS and BDS seats are there in HP counselling?
The 2026-27 prospectus lists 870 MBBS seats in 7 colleges and 295 BDS seats in 4 dental colleges. The seat split is provisional and can change by government order.

How to apply for HP NEET Counselling 2026?
You apply online on the AMRU application portal, pay the fee and submit the form within the round’s window. A form that is paid for but not finally submitted is not counted in the merit list.
Apply Online for HP NEET Counselling 2026
The HP NEET Counselling 2026 application window (13 to 17 August 2026) has closed.
- Open amruhp.ac.in and go to Admission, then Apply for Admission and Counselling, then MBBS/BDS, or open the AMRU application portal directly.
- Register: choose HP Quota or Management Quota and your category, enter your NEET UG 2026 details and your name and father’s name exactly as in NEET, verify your email and mobile number with the OTP, and enter the captcha.
- Log in with the user name and password sent to your email and mobile, and pay the application fee online.
- Fill your personal, address, eligibility, category and qualification details. Upload a photo taken on or after 1 August 2026 (up to 40 KB), your signature (up to 20 KB) and the required certificates.
- Click Final Submit and download the PDF of the form. Keep its printout; you must hand it in at the allotted college.
- After the merit list is out, fill and lock your course, college and quota choices for the round. Fresh choices are needed in every round.

If you opt for more than one type of seat, the highest token amount applies. It is refunded if you get no seat, and forfeited if you get a seat but do not join. Candidates already admitted in Round 1 to a government college or a private dental college do not pay it for Round 2.
How to log in to the HP NEET counselling application portal?
You log in to finish or update your application, lock choices in each round and download your provisional allotment letter.
- Open the official login page (AMRU’s application portal), also linked from the AMRU counselling page.
- Enter your user name, which is the email ID you registered with.
- Enter the password sent to your email and mobile at registration, then select Login.
- On your dashboard, complete the form, open College Preferences to fill and lock choices, or download your allotment letter after each allocation.

Who can apply for HP NEET Counselling 2026?
You must have qualified NEET UG 2026. For state quota seats you also need a Himachal link set out in Section IV of the prospectus.
- Bonafide Himachalis, or children of Bonafide Himachalis, who passed at least two of these exams from recognised schools in Himachal Pradesh: middle, matric, 10+1, 10+2. The Bonafide Himachali certificate must be issued on or after January 2013.
- Children of non-Himachali Central Government employees, staff of central or other state bodies in HP, serving HP High Court judges, or regular HP Government employees, if the parent worked two continuous years in HP within the four years before 1 January of the Class 12 year and the child passed 10+1 and 10+2 in HP. They are treated as unreserved.
- The schooling rule is waived for children of HP Government employees posted outside HP for three years, children of Bonafide Himachalis in Central Government service posted outside HP for three years, and children of Bonafide Himachalis in the defence services, ex-servicemen or paramilitary forces.
- Management quota seats in MMMC Solan and the private dental colleges are open to any NEET UG 2026 qualified Indian national.
- Class 12 qualification and age as set by the National Medical Commission for NEET UG.
Which reserved categories apply in HP MBBS counselling?
Reserved seats are only for Bonafide Himachalis, and you can claim just one reserved category, which cannot be changed after submission.
- SC, ST, OBC and EWS (EWS needs an HP certificate for 2026-27; family income below Rs 4 lakh)
- Backward Area (resident of a notified backward area who passed two exams from schools there)
- Persons with Disability (5% of seats; certificate from the medical board at IGMC Shimla or Dr RPGMC Tanda)
- Wards of Freedom Fighters, Widows/Wards of Ex-servicemen, Wards/Wives of Defence Personnel
- Single Girl Child, Children of J&K Migrants, Children of Tibetan Refugees
- IRDP/BPL (state quota seats at MMMC Solan)
Unfilled reserved seats move to other groups in Round 3: SC and ST seats are exchanged, then go to General, as do vacant PwD, NRI, J&K Migrant and Tibetan Refugee seats.
How do rounds and upgrades work in HP NEET counselling?
AMRU publishes a fresh merit list in each round, and only candidates who lock fresh choices in that round are considered.
- If you are admitted and want a better seat, you must provisionally surrender your seat before filling choices for Round 2 or 3. If you get no upgrade, you keep your earlier seat and category.
- After Round 2, no admitted student may vacate a government college seat. Upgrades are allowed up to Round 3.
- If you get a Round 3 seat and do not join, or surrender a seat after Round 3, you cannot take part in the stray round.
- If your name is on the MCC admitted list on the allocation day, you are left out of Round 3 and the stray round.
- The stray vacancy round is only for candidates not admitted anywhere, with no upgrades. Leftover state quota seats then go to management quota candidates in merit order. There is no institutional mop-up round.
What is the MBBS and BDS fee in Himachal Pradesh colleges?
Government colleges charge far less than MMMC Solan and the private dental colleges. These are the 2026-27 figures from the prospectus.

MBBS tuition is charged for four and a half years. BPL students pay no tuition in government colleges. Private dental fees for 2026-27 carry a 5% rise and are under government review.
What happens after the Round 3 allocation?
Download your provisional allotment letter from your portal login and report to the principal of the allotted college within the time given. The college verifies your documents and medical fitness before you pay the fee and join.
Seats left after Round 3 go to the stray vacancy round, whose schedule AMRU will notify. To see where seats closed in the first two rounds, check the HP NEET cut off 2026.
What documents do you need at the allotted college?
Carry the originals and one set of self-attested photocopies of these documents, as listed in the 2026-27 prospectus.
- Printout of the online application form (confirmation copy) and the allotment letter
- NEET UG 2026 admit card and scorecard
- Class 10 certificate (date of birth proof), Class 12 pass certificate and mark sheet
- Character certificate from the last school, and a recent one from the Tehsildar or SDM
- Bonafide Himachali certificate (Appendix 1) or the employee certificate (Appendix 13) that applies
- Reserved category certificates in the prescribed formats, if claimed
- HPBOSE equivalence certificate if Class 12 is from a board other than HPBOSE, CBSE or ICSE
- Four passport-size colour photographs and the anti-ragging undertakings
